Voting Question: Why does my wifi connection cut out?

To be more specific so that I can receive the best answer... the wifi connection works perfectly fine during the day. At about 6 - 7pm, the connection will lag(web pages stop loading, hulu videos, ect.) every 2 - 5 minutes and then starts working again. As anyone can imagine, this issue is freaking annoying the heck out of me. Feels like it's the year 2000 and I have my dial-up connection all over again. I am unclear whether or not it is the broadband connection or the wifi connection. I have tried switching the channel on which the router broadcasts and restarting the router, but the problem still persists. Here is some more relevant information. The broadband connection is through ATT(I believe it is DSL @ about 6mbps down/700kbps up) and it is a 2wire 802.11g router. Help me out!!to elaborate on my question, What can I do to fix this issue. more

Resolved Question: The difference between DSL and Broadband T1?

I have DSL but get slow download speeds when getting updates. ie; microsoft will have a menu arrow for what type of connection. T1 indicates fastest and there are always 2 other DSL choices. i just assume i can use the T1. So what should i use. this question should probably be answered by ATT or YAHOO OR Microsoft - Techs and/or equivalent. But hey give it your best shot. more

My computer had a virus and I sent it to Computer "Experts". They cleaned the computer thoroughly, and wanted me to use Firefox. When I refused because I found Outlook Express impossible to use with Firefox, they reinserted Internet Explorer and said they gave me back Outlook Express. It is in the computer, but the icon is gone, and when I tried to set it up I can no longer use it. I get the following error messages that indicates to me it is unavailable. Resolved Question: Laptop Internet Problem, please HELP!!?

I've had ATT broadband connection for about two years now but now I've got a new laptop and tried to use it at home. When I connected the cable I was able to use the internet fine but the connection dropped suddenly and when I restarted the laptop it said I was connected to the internet but I wasn't able to browse anything. Some of the times I also got the "limited connectivity message". I changed the cable back to my home computer and I'm able to use the Internet in this one, but I'd rather use the laptop because is way faster. Does anybody know what could be the problem. I have an ATT wireless broadband usb. After I plug the usb into my computer, I can connect the internet normally. i hate Cricket and their false "3G Wireless Broadband". the crap is supposed to be fast, but why does it take an hour to download a 10MB file/song at only 4 kilobits a second? thats 50 kilobits slower than f***ing dial up!!! anyway, back to the question. i've been seeing these AT&T commericals all over the net, as well as TV saying you can get high speed internet (DSL i suppose) for only $20 a month, and no home phone required. i live an apartment, it was set up for home phone service when we moved here in 2003, the line jack in the dining room is ready, where this computer is. not sure about the bedrooms, but i wouldn't need the bedroom jacks anyway. now, my main asking here is, what all do i need? i have an ethernet card installed, several USB ports, Windows XP, a Pentium 4 processor at 1.3 GHz, 512MB RAM (its an old 2001 Compaq) i have several 4 pin phone lines, ethernet cables, a couple DSL modems from my collection (or will ATT supply one?). next, when i sign up for the service online, how long does it take for them to come out and hook up the phone lines at the phone pole outside the building, and does the setup/installation cost anything? also, if i decide to move, can i just have them move my service to my new residence? i've never done this before, never even had a land line phone, so any pointers/tips would be helpful, also, if you have this service, (AT&T), what do you think of it speed wise? thanks guys/gals more

Voting Question: On the 10th of this month I purchased the Cricket Broadband service, its not bad but its not good enough?

I like to watch movies on youtube and Megavideo. and cricket is too slow. I love the idea of it being mobile though. So here's my question I have 3 days to return the modem, does it matter how much time I've used or what I downloaded. for the price I know I can get ATT for the same price and a way faster speed. The lady said I can bring it back but I heard if used over 3 hours it cant be returned. So wanted to confirm that before I waste time going way out there to the main store. Ok so i just set up a broadband internet connection after my ATT going out for a few days due to some error they were having.. i had to re set that up and now my wireless linkseys router does not work right. My computer and wireless devices[ipods, etc] pick up the router signal but all say there is no internet and can not connect to it. iv tried reinstalling the router and the same thing happens What do i do? and please be Specific i do not know much about this sort of thing.EDIT: i already called ATT thats how i got my actual internet connection working. they told me the router was not there problem.Also i have used a wired cable with the router and there is still no wireless internet connection. I use the wireless only for game systems and ipods.The router is in perfect working condition. i just need to know what to do to get the computer to connect it to the internet. i have reset it with the button on the back of the router and the lights are green. more

I am planning on buying a desktop and a laptop soon. I want Wireless internet. What I need some help finding is which provider I should go with. I want a speed that's pretty fast but it doesn't have to be the fastest. I guess that would be broadband? I live in Colorado. The ones I know of are Qwest, Verizon, Comcast, Cricket, and ATT. Any personal experience out there? Like I said, I want something pretty fast with OK customer service. If you could recommend anything, it'd be great. I'm gonna buy a securitycamera so that I can see what happens in my flat when I'm not there. I wanna be able to watch the video Image from the web. I have a wireless network/broadband connection and the system I'm thinkin of bying has a receiver that can be connected to a TV/VCR/DVR or even GPS. I have a Linksys Wireless-B 2.4 Ghz 802.11b Broadband Router, I use to run on Comcast Broadband internet, It was pretty Much as Easy as Plug and Play and, I had Wireless Internet in my home, Money Got Tight and i had to downgrade to ATT DSL.... i know DSL can be used with a Linksys Router, I have seen it done before, but it is not as easy as Plug n Play, I have Called ATT, They want to charge me 70 bucks to have some one come down here and set it up, or Charge me 50 to tell me how to do it over the phone, which i can do it my self NP i just need instructions....i just think it is stupid that they would charge me >.<, ATT said something about how Linksys is not Compatible with there DSL as a Plug and Play, that i have to configure the router to read it. I have verizon broadband right now and even though I can use it everywhere..it is slow! I have att for my cell phone. How or where can I find other ISPs other than the local cable and telecom monopolies? Back in the days of dialup thelist.internet.com was great for this, and still is, but now lists the same national listings no matter how much you narrow it down; even if you click Wireless, all the same ISPs show up. Barring that, are there any low priced broadband ISPs in the 504 area code (new orleans) that are better or cheaper or faster other than cox and bellsouth/att besides satellite? ok 2 months ago att just started this b.s if making you pay 60 dollars month for broadband air card for your laptops which is no longer unlimited , you can only use 5 gigabytes and if you go over it charges you overage. i dont know who in their right mind would pay for internet that is 60 dollars a month that is no longer unlimted, alot of business people travel and use it. i would ask if yall report att to the better business bureau for doing this terrible thing. now i dont wish for att to get shut down. but if enough complain they may make them offer a unlinted plan. i would be so grateful if yall do it. i wish i could give yall all 10 points for ut more

Resolved Question: Getting DSL in my area HELP!. Dslam (Dsl Box) ?

Hello everyone hopefully someone can answer this best answer gets 10 points.. here goes.. Awhile back AT&T installed new equipment next to the main telephone box (where all the neighborhood lines meet) and this occured last oct of 07. I saw an ATT guy working on the box next to it. I asked him.. because my family wanted dsl.. he said this box "can be used for dsl and ATT will more than likely implement Their U-verse. Television internet and voice over the phone line. He said.. it will be deployed sometime in late mar-apri of 08. Its not oct of 08.. Still no DSL and when I call customer service they say we cant get it. Right now im using sprint's wireless broadband but the latency is horrible for gaming. Who do I need to get in contact with?.. Customer service isnt working.. And there are countless people i can name who would love to have the service. Its kinda out in the country, but he told me this box will run off of a main line thats only 8 miles away off a fiber line. Any suggestions or comments would be helpful. I will go all the way to the top with ATT to get this service started. Sad thing is you would think ATT would like to make money.. apparently not because the dslam box just sits there. The ATT guy opened it up for me.. There is stuff running.. just fans and what not, but nothing is plugged in. Cards that go inside are missing. And the instruction manual was still sitting inside the door.Cable is not an option either. And let me correct one thing the fiber line.. Is coming to that box.. the other end goes to the central office. more
