Vodafone 'toys with Tiscali buy'
Speculation is growing that Vodafone is preparing to buy one of the UK's fixed-line telecommunications operators. The Sunday Telegraph reported that Vodafone has identified Tiscali as a possible takeover target, as part of a push to expand its product offering. Bulldog, Cable & Wireless's broadband ISP, is said to be another option, despite its track-record of poor customer service. Vodafone described the reports as "speculation". Vodafone currently just offers mobile services - unlike rivals such as Orange, which is aggressively pushing a strategy where it offers both fixed-line and mobile services. With convergence such a hot issue in today's telecoms market, Vodafone is under growing pressure to become more than just a mobile player. Last month, some analysts argued that the company should even consider bidding for BT.
DDoS Attacks for the Common Man
You might ask why you, who monopolized your industry or sued customers for using someone else's product, should be the target of a DDoS attack? You might as well ask why there's random street crime. The answer is that the Internet is a rough neighborhood, and even little guys have disgruntled former employees and customers who feel cheated, not to mention ex-spouses and competitors. Trust me, it really could happen. .

Removing Spybot requires more than just deleting
Q: Dean, I am at my wits' end. I run AT&T Yahoo DSL and am trying to upgrade my security to a new package. I have had Spybot Search & Destroy and Spyware Blaster on my machine, a Dell Dimension 4300. I have gone to Control Panel and removed both, but when I try to install the downloads for a new security package, Spybot SD keeps coming up with a window of "access denied." It keeps telling me An Active X is trying to change the registry, and won't let the machine further install. I have even gone back to control panel to add/remove and it tells me no files are found. I just want to get all components of these two spywares off. I know I will have to get into the registry, but I don't know how to get rid of all these files. I need help fast, as I am putting myself at risk now, not having any kind of anti-virus, firewall, nor anti-spy loaded on my machine.
