Okay, so long story as short as possible. My computer got a ridiculous virus and after getting the virus removed, nothing was working correctly, so I decided to start from scratch (It runs XP). K i thought i may have solved this cuz i noticed my cable modem i got from the cable company will allow hosting a web server behind it if its the only computer hooked into it, i got a broadband router next ran the lan network of it instead of the router/modem thinking this may fool this piece of garbage modem, but nope still stalls for some reason on port 80 when a second computer is introduced else where even when the wifis disabled on the modem and all the computer have to connect thro the router not to the modem to make it the single connection that it seems picky on, all the ports are pointing correctly, I'm so frigging fustrated with this and trying to get a simple html site up heres wat i have. smc8014w-g cable modem with wifi (wifi is disabled, only the router and cable for inet are running into it, ports forwarded to the router below) Linksys wireless g 2.4 ghz broadband router. I have done everything to get a simple signal thru from a computer running apache to run a simple html script and it absolutely refuses to send it thro, ftp works fine, few other ports look good, just http wont go thru. I excluded the port in xps firewall as well. Basically the only other option i see is another modem or line but i cant see why not, cuz a single machine hooked up to it is fine, hence why 1 router instead of all the comps connecting to the modem/router, but as soon as that second comp connects either wifi or hardline no http will go thru. Anyone got an answer? moreResolved Question: My internate Broadband show me unused MB which i didnt use...?

Please give me solution quickly... moreOpen Question: Why can't I connect to the internet anymore?
This is a little embarrassing because I am an I.T. Professional (software developer for both the Mac and the PC). Anyway, my daughter's computer got hit by a virus tonight, so bad the Task Manager was at full tilt and I literally had to pull the plug. No dice on the reboot, it was a registry level infection, so the only option was to use ERD Commander to wipe the disk, then reinstall the Operating System (Windows XP, 32 bit, on an older machine). Anyway, I can see plain as day the "1394 Connection" by going through: Control Panel -> Network and Internet -> Network Connections and it says "Connected, Firewalled" and the window shows the speed at 400.0 Mbps but nothing is being "transferred", so this rate is no doubt optimistically high. Even as I write this on the machine next to it, it shows "Connected 00:07:24" so it looks like it is working. Just to drive myself to madness, I unplugged the ethernet cable and plugged it into my ANCIENT Macintosh G4 I bought in 1999, and it was able to launch the fossil known as Mozilla and connect to the internet with no problem! So, I know it's not the port on my router, it's not the Broadband service provider, and it is not my "machine" since the thing was working fine before the virus knocked us out. The only thing left is the software, but it was the XP version (service pack 3) that came with the box. Is there anyway to resolve this perplexing issue? Why won't this machine connect to the internet?Ah ha, now we are getting somewhere. Yes, under "Other Devices" the "Ethernet Controller" has a yellow question mark. moreOpen Question: my laptop can't connect to our wireless router. Why? Please help!?

Hey guys, I'm a current subscriber to pldt (3mbps) and it sucks. For real, I keep on having to restart my modem after 30 minutes of use or something. I'm getting really fed up and the technicians are pretty lousy. I like the speed when I actually have a chance to use it (ie. when Im not restarting it) but the constant disconnections really piss me off. I was planning to switch to Globe Broadband (10 mpbs) and it seems pretty good. Plus, the download speed is much higher than pldt (well duh, 10 mbps). I'm not sure if they're stable but the prices they offer are good (P3,000 for pldt 3mbps plan while globe offers P3,995 for 10mbps plan). So what do you think guys? Should I switch? Btw, I live in the Makati (rockwell) area, so I hear the connections are supposed to be strong. I have a Linksys WRT300N Wireless N Broadband Router (sorry tried to link to the support page on their website here, but if you click it it just redirects to a "Page not found" page), it has been having an intermittent issue for the fast few months, where generally when I'm doing something on the computer and/or playing a game online on the XBOX/PS3, and/or streaming music to one of the game systems from the computer, I will suddenly loose my internet connection. When I look at the modem (cable), it says that it is connected to the internet. I have to reset both the router and modem to get it to start working again. I have tried connecting my computer directly to the modem, and still no internet, even though it displays on the modem that there is, but I am still not sure if it is the modem, router, or possibly the connection itself-hence my question, is it even possible to overload the router, and would these symptoms be characteristic of such an issue? It only really seems to happen whenever there is a lot going on through the wireless connection. Thanks! Also, the 360 and PS3 are not connected wirelessly, but they are connected to the router, if that makes any difference, everything else is wireless though. moreResolved Question: Can anyone explain to a computer ignoramus how broadband connection for laptops works?
