Orange suspends old Freeserve accounts

ICONIC FREESERVE was a market leader in the early days of the UK Internet scene. But the ISP has been sold on and become part of Orange/Wanadoo. So your email account might get suspended.

The INQ was alerted to this problem when a reader's email address suddenly stopped working. Well, suddenly is a bit of an exaggeration. He hadn't used it for something like 17 days.
The upshot was that downloading and sending emails via Microsoft Outlook stopped working even though the facility had worked for years.

The reason is simple. Our reader had grown tired of the service offered by Freeserve/Wanadoo/Orange and migrated to Talk Talk.
So, in effect, he wasn't paying a sausage to Orange. Naturally the company take umbrage at such outrageous behaviour and cuts off access to your Freeserve email account.

Man stabs four at Harford plant

A man stormed into a Harford County manufacturing plant yesterday in search of his estranged wife, chased her down and stabbed her along with three other people, the county sheriff's office said.

The man, described as a former employee of the Harford Duracool facility on the outskirts of Aberdeen, fled the business after the stabbings, police said. Having crashed the truck he was driving, police said, the suspect commandeered another vehicle before being arrested a short time later.

Nine people were hurt in the incident, authorities said.

10 DNS Errors That Will Kill Your Network

Well over 70 percent of all support calls that come to Microsoft support services that start out as Active Directory or Exchange calls end up being DNS calls. Yet, as youll see in this article, most of these issues dont require extensive diagnostic work or sophisticated tools to isolate and resolve. I liken it to the days when automobiles had carburetors; a mechanic could fix most engine performance problems by fiddling with the chokespritz a little WD-40 into the throttle body, charge $50 and retire in the suburbs after a few years. Nowadays, the same is true for DNS. Check the TCP/IP settings, run a few utilities to verify the zone records, charge $350 (correcting for inflation) and retire to Arizona.

Youll learn to identify the most common domain name system issues that cause problems for AD and Exchange and how to avoid them in the first place or isolate and resolve them if they occur in production.

When you've got Nixon, make Nixonade: John Ellis argues Hillary can't base her campaign on being likeable (she's not) and basing her campaign on being 'inevitable,' which she's done, is highly risky-e.g., if she loses the first two primaries.

Net user base shrinks as Indians go mobile

NEW DELHI: The year 2007 belongs to broadband, but for the first time in recent memory, the number of internet connections in the country has fallen. The total internet connections in the country declined to 9.22 million in April-June from 9.27 million in the previous quarter, according to telecom regulator TRAI's performance indicator report for the quarter. India is possibly the only country in the world where internet connections are falling.

Analysts said the fall in internet connections was on account of the country's largest internet service provider (ISP), BSNL, witnessing a 2.93 per cent decline in its subscriber base to 2.42 million. Its sister PSU, MTNL, which is the second-largest ISP, also registered a 0.5 per cent decrease in its subscriber base during this quarter.
