A friend of mine lives in the middle of nowhere in KY. She currently has internet access using a dial-up connection, but is it possible for her to get faster internet out there? I'm not sure, but I think they live too far out for Broadband or DSL. Other stuff I know about their situation is as follows; they currently use AOL for the internet; their computer is brand new and pretty awesome as computers go (it even has wireless capabilities); their cell phone provider, Cingular, is pretty much the only major provider in that area and their reception is spectacular. I was thinking there might be a way for them to get faster internet via one of those USB doohickeys offered by some cell-phone providers that can find internet almost anywhere. If that wouldn't work, then is there a faster dial-up service than AOL that they could try? All suggestions are welcomed and appreciated! moreResolved Question: Help with internet connection sharing?

Cingular’s “EDGE” network is notoriously slow, but we get good, reliable coverage….do you know who out there has a better data network as far as speed? If so, how's their coverage? We're in Florida, if that matters. Cost per month for Cingular/AT&T is $60/month for comparison; we're willing to pay a few bucks a month more for this one if need be. moreResolved Question: I'm wanting to get a laptop but I have questions...Help!?

Honestly, which one is faster? Thanks, Cheers! moreResolved Question: Is everyone as tired of big business treating us like this as I am?
Several years ago Verizon advertised "unlimited" broadband. What wasn't known, and not in their TOS, was a hidden 5 Gb cap. If you went over this cap, you received a letter saying that if you did it again, your service would be terminated. Now, Sprint (who has the lowest customer service ratings in the business), has said that they were going to cancel the contracts of 1000 customers because they complained too much. Those customers have 30 days to find another service provider. Is everyone as tired of being treated this way as I am? I'd say boycott Sprint/Nextel and go with Cingular or anyone else, see how they like us cancelling THEIR contract? moreResolved Question: broadband?

If so, do you sign up for it through Cingular or Microsoft or BOTH? How much is it?? Finally, is there anything you are not happy with the Blackjack? Thanks much!!!!! moreResolved Question: Wireless Broadband for both a Pocket PC and a Laptop: How to compare providers in my area?
I am planning on getting both a PDA (Pocket PC) and a Laptop. My understanding is that a big part of this choice has to do w the Wireless Broadband Provider - Sprint, Verizon, Cingular, etc. I have been told that each provider has its own 'hardware' - towers, etc. So, signal strength varies from one carrier to another. That is a big deal. How do I determine which providers are better and which are worse in my area ? (North Metro Atlanta - 30076). I don't travel very often, and if I do, it's to other larger cities in the US. 99% of my connection time will be in/around Atlanta. I have also been told that I should / have to get both of these from the same provider (the PDA service and the Wireless Broadband service for my laptop). The PDA will be my cell phone, also. Please enlighten me. moreResolved Question: Wireless Broadband for both a Pocket PC and a Laptop: How to compare providers in my area?

I'm moving to Pittsburgh soon, which means leaving the company-perk wireless broadband and digital satellite behind... So, what should I expect to pay for broadband and cable/satellite in Pittsburgh WITHOUT getting a landline phone? And what are the best companies to deal with OTHER than AT&T/SBC/Cingular (with whom I've had MAJOR customer service problems in the past) ? moreResolved Question: Can I use the Cingular mobile broadband card for everyday web browsing?
If so, can I use it at my house? Or do I have to be in a "hot-spot"? moreResolved Question: Do those "cell phone" cards from Cingular and Verizon for your laptop provide good, stable ISP service
I live in a rural area where I can't get broadband service from a cable provider, but I have excellent cell phone coverage. I also don't want to have to pay for a landline phone when the only thing I would use it for would be to get either a dail-up ISP or DSL. moreResolved Question: What company makes the best broadband card?
sprint? cingular? verizon? any others? moreResolved Question: how do you break a monoploy?
Att/cingular, verizon, and sprint are all selling the mobile broadband at the same price and same guidelines. Where is the competition? moreResolved Question: Should I get a Sprint Broadband card or stick with Cingular and wait until HSPDA is available where I live?
I will not go with Verizon because they are $20 more expensive than Sprint, so please don't send me any answers telling me to do Verizon. Sprint and Cingular. Where I live, Sprint has EV-DO service (no Rev. A, but still, high-speed is high-speed). However, Cingular has no HSPDA (high-speed internet) where I live. Now, having been with Cingular for over a year, I must say that I am pretty much fed up. We have four phones on our plan, and all of them needed replacement, do the reliabiltity of the equipment may be a factor. Not only that, but they were pretty rough on us during the ATT and Cingular transition (and I don't know what to expect from The New ATT). I do hear, however, that sprint has unreliable service (all their towers here were down once), and that they have really cruddy customer service. But they are cheaper than Verizon and Cingular, so that is what is drawing me in. Now, having layed down the ground rules for answering, I need some help deciding. COMMENCE HELPING! moreResolved Question: Anyone using the Sprint Mobile Broadband Card (PX-500)?

Basically, I just purchased the Blackberry 8700c off Amazon with a new service plan from Cingular. As far as I can tell, the voice options are basically like every other phone. Am I still able to get the email access and broadband with the voice plans? That was something that I could not figure out. What does a data plan give to your service that would be important? I need access to corporate emails and files. The corporate emails are included with the voice plan and extended plan with unlimited email capability and 1000 text, video, sound messages. The capability of keeping files is the data plan?? moreResolved Question: Can I use a notebook wireless broadband card with a desk top PC with some sort of adapter?
