Hello I live in a rural region, though its not THAT rural. I want Broadband internet.I currently have dial-up with at&t. I pay 30 bucks for an Additional phone line and 20 bucks for dial up. Options that are eliminated: DSL-A road less than 150 yards has it but I cannot and probably never will. Cable- Cable does not run up this road at all. Satellite always on the internet and I like to play online games cant deal with a daily FAP CAP.Cant afford it anyway.plus commitments. Data connect-Terms of use would eliminate the best things about the internet on a PC. 60 bucks a month if you want tethering. No 3G here. I did some scouting with my laptop and I've come down to trying to access the peoples open wireless internet that live less than 1/2 a mile from me.I've built a cantenna, purchased one of the most powerful network adapters you can get (500mw) and tried to mount it to a dish but there are too many trees.Im going to try a bi-quad feed into the dish next, then a 24dbi gird parabolic and if that dosent work im going to go insane. There was one I picked up close by with just the cantenna but it was secured with WEP. I'm so desperate, im thinking of just cracking it. All i want is the crappiest DSL and i would be happy....sheesh. Any tips, or suggestions would please??Nah they wont run the line a meer 300ft so that i can get it. 2 junctions, one 300ft away, the other, less than 1/8 of a mile from me have a DSL line.I've been calling every once in a while for about 2 years now.On at&t's website they wont even let you send in the form to let me know when i can get it.There is no send button once you fill out the info. I'll never get it because they'd rather you get wildblue.ITs criminal.I have to pay a outrageous installation fee, sign a contract, and pay 60 bucks a month for something better and cheaper that practically my neighbors are getting. moreResolved Question: Can I get my mail forwarded to a new email account?

we are testing out a wireless router we got from a friend. they said it worked at their house, which makes me think the problem isnt the router. we have dish network's wildblue internet service and the router is a linksys 2.4 GHz Broadband router. the laptop im trying to connect with is a hp compaq with the windows vista operating system. the router does seem to send out a signal, because ive been able to connect to it, but it doesnt send out the internet. i know the internet connection is going through it because i have my laptop hooked up to it currently and the internet is working properly, but when i disconnect the cable and try to connect through wireless, it will connect but there is no internet access. i do not think there is a problem with the brand of router because we had one before and it was the same model. we returned it, because it worked for a long time, but then just stopped. could there be a problem with my laptop? i wouldnt think so, because anywhere else, my laptop will connect to any wireless connection. any solutions? please help.ok...someone just answered this question a second ago, but i ran hp network assistant and it said the router was not supported by my computer and that i should run network assistant from the beginning and check for updates. i tried restarting network assistant, but it just told me the same thing all over. any suggestions on how to get updates so that my computer will support the router?ok...someone just answered this question a second ago, but i ran hp network assistant and it said the router was not supported and that i should run network assistant from the beginning and check for updates. i tried restarting network assistant, but it just told me the same thing all over. any suggestions on how to get updates so that my computer will support the router? i dont know that it means the router is not supported by my computer though. i think it might just mean the router is not supported by hp network assistant. moreResolved Question: Will you answer a question for a wireless network illiterate?

I have a vodaphone 3Gig stick which plugs into usb port, it runs on gprs network. I'm looking for someone who will be able to answer as many detailed questions about an American Expat moving to and living in Kuwait. Are there any currently “Homeschooled” American kids living in Kuwait? Do people in Kuwait play XBOX 360 Live? Can we bring our two dogs (Rottweilers) with us if we live in an apartment in Salmyia or Salwa? Does Kuwait have activities for the teens such as BMX racing? Swimming? Ice Skating? Ballet? Dance instruction of any kind? Piano lessons? Drum lessons? Etc I understand that most Kuwaiti’s have what I call “household assistants” (ie; maid, cook, nanny, etc.) Is this common for Expats as well? What could you expect to pay for such a service? Internet (Broadband) Service in Kuwait? Plans & Prices? Household electrical plugs? Will I need some type of converter to use my own appliances as well as the kids Nintendo and XBOX gaming units brought from the United States? Ours are all set up for 110volt here in the United States… How much do you pay for cellular phone service? What are their plans like? Can you direct me to a website with plans/prices? What is the cost of purchasing a large SUV to drive while living there? Is there a subscription satellite television service there? (ie; Dish Network, etc.) Can you answer what you know for me? Alright, now I realize that Playstation Network is all broadband/highspeed internet access, right? O.o Anyways, from what everyone says, it's all DSL and Cable and whatever is higher than that, correct? Well, I have Satellite internet through Dish Network. It's high speed, probably a bit faster than Cable, really...but the point is, I can't play Socom online with it because it has a slight, maybe one-two second delay. Will the Playstation Network let me connect with a connection like this? Or am I doomed to a lack of online play for the next...eh, 14-15 months while the contract wears off?I have a monthly limit of 13 gigs, so it's not -that- bad...but uhh... I realize what you guys are saying, though I'd kind of like to see if anyone will give me a straight out answer. ^__^ Thanks.Well, I mean...monthly download limit of 13 gigs...and I think upload of...6-9 gigs? I forget. moreResolved Question: Would I be better off with a Tivo or with a Dish Network DVR?
I'm thinking about getting my husband a DVR for Christmas but I don't know what kind to get. We currently have a package deal that includes broadband services and dish network. I'm wondering whether we would be better off with one of Dish Network's DVRs or a Tivo. We would probably use it mostly for recording and watching back shows but it might be nice if we could somehow connect it with our laptop DVD burner at times. Any opinions from those of you who have had either or both of these? Is Tivo really worth the extra cost? moreVoting Question: Is there a way to have Vonage go thru Dish Network reciever without a broadband connection?
moreResolved Question: what internet service should I use?
I am getting ready to move to a smaller suburb of KC Mo than I live in now. I use cable now, but will be switching to dish network bc it is cheaper than the cable offered where I am moving. However, the internet through dish is a bit more than I want to pay. What are my other options? DSL? Broadband? And do I have to get a home phone in order to use one of those options?? I would prefer not to, I have a cell and prefer to use it... Thanks! moreResolved Question: Is broadband internet offered with Direct Tv or Dish network?
I currently have high speed internet as part of a package with cable TV but the internet speed is affected by how many people are surfing at the same time, which is usually the same time I surf. Also I hear that some cities have fiber optic internet, which works truly at blazing speed. Does anyone know if Houston has it? moreResolved Question: Dish Network/ Verizon online vs. Comcast digital cable/ Broadband internet?
We currently have Dish Network for our tv services and Verizon Online for our internet services, but thinking of switching over. Our dish and internet seem to go out when the slightest cloud appears in the sky. Do you experience the same probs? Would you recommend switching to Comcast? Or if possible, any other recommendations for the NW Indiana area? As always, thanks in advance.Oh- and we've had the repair guy here for the internet probs countless times, by the way. moreResolved Question: Time Warner Cable or Verizon Fios or Dish Network or Direct TV for HDTV and broadband Internet in So. Cali?
I want to have HDTV programming with local channels in HD and at least ESPN and TNT in HD. I also want broadband internet without getting DSL since I don't want to get a phone line just for DSL. A non-subscription DVR would be nice too. I don't care about all those digital music channels. Which provider is the cheapest and the best with what I'm looking for? I'm in Southern California/Ventura County. moreResolved Question: Is there anyway to watch live AFL (Aussie footy) in the USA?

Anyone know how to get the NBA League pass without a provider? Any way to get it Broadband style without a provider? I just bought a house that is in the 1% of the USA that can't get satellite due to trees and I have a shake roof. Direct TV won't install on a shake roof. Not a fan of Dish Network. My local cable company doesn't offer NBA League Pass. moreResolved Question: The TV to PC offer of 3,000 +Stations for $50.00 scares me: Is it too good to be true or not?
I love all the variety of TV and have become a surfer on satellite, but neither Dish nor Disk Networks know anything about this great reading offer. I can't afford to throw away $50.00. So please let me know if it is for real or not. I've heard that MS has web TV built in and that if you stay with current systems and don't upgrade maybe it's ok? But MS doesn't answer my inquiry about Vista having web T.V. Is the broadband of the web capable of carrying so much computing power as all that vidio, audio plus everybody['s chat and photo share. I read from Apple that Mpeg 1 was the basis of all mp3s and made possible vidio Disk players. in 1994 the release of Mpeg 2 made possible CD-R/W and is the bais for all HDTV and DVDs today. The next gen. is a long way away, but they are working on it. So how can even Mpeg-2 carry so much t.v? A lot of people are likely to get hurt badly if it ain't for real, for real! My goal is to network my home computer to my laptop via a Linksys SpeedBooster 802.11g Wireless Broadband Router. I am wondering, in order to maximize my Media Center usuage, If I can use that same router or do I need to find something completely different to hook up my TV, in order to view shows I recorded on my computer on my Television?I'm not so much looking from my laptop to my TV, more so I'm looking to play recorded TV on my Media Center PC on my TV in my living room moreResolved Question: Access to the internet: Is it a right or a privilege?
Broadband providers want more control of the internet. opponents say a tool of democracy is in peril Imagine your internet were like cable tv or dish network and you had to pay so much to have access to so much, would you?
