It doesn't matter what browser I use. When I am surfing the web, my computer will occasionally (Ever hour or two) freeze up completely. When froze, the task tanager will not come up, the windows button will not respond, and pressing F5 five times fast does nothing. All I can do is turn my computer off by Hard-Resetting it. I have scanned my computer for infections with Malwarebytes and SUPERAnti-Spyware. I cleared all infections. MBAM didn't detect anything. I have used CCleaner and Registry Easy to clean up my Registry. So if it's not a virus and it's not my Registry... then wtf is it?! The other day someone suggested that my bandwidth may be limited or that my Router/Adapter is bad. If my bandwidth is limited, how do I fix that? If my router/adapter is bad, how can I know, and does that mean I have to buy a new one? I just don't see how a bad router/adapter or limited bandwidth can freeze my computer up. I can understand if it freezes my internet but I should still be able to get my computer to respond. My PC is a Dell Optiplex GX270 with XP Home Edition My internet network uses Linsys Wireless Adapter and Linksys Wireless-G Router. We have Clearwire wireless broadband with Vonage running through it for phone service.Ahhhh ... I mean Shift! not F5 LOLLL When you hit shift 5 times fast you can use your keyboard to shut down your computer and other things. But I guess that is only useful if your mouse stops working.@Johnny K. That would make sense, however, it is ONLY an internet issue. I'd like to see user reviews of pretty much any ISP. Wireless, Broadband, anything except dial-up. I need to upgrade to something pretty fast and not too insanely costly. I also would like to know just how much they know about what you download. If you've ever received a letter about Copyright infringement or excessive data usage, feel free to add that detail to your vote. I hate any ISP that pokes around your stuff or wants money for unlimited usage and doesn't actually give you unlimited. Thanks. FYI, I'm with Qwest right now. It's so-so. I have a sprint mobile broadband for internet access and it would always disconnects out of nowhere all the time and I have to reconnect constantly. Plus the connection speed is slow. Sprint gave me a replacement card, but I am having the SAME problem. When I go to internet cafes, their wireless internet is fast and my computer is fine. But when I use my sprint card, I always have issues. Does anyone know what could possibly be wrong? It's not my usb port because I tested other usb's and they work fine. What else could be wrong and what should I do? moreResolved Question: Is it possible to overload a router? If so, what would happen?
I have a Linksys WRT300N Wireless N Broadband Router (sorry tried to link to the support page on their website here, but if you click it it just redirects to a "Page not found" page), it has been having an intermittent issue for the fast few months, where generally when I'm doing something on the computer and/or playing a game online on the XBOX/PS3, and/or streaming music to one of the game systems from the computer, I will suddenly loose my internet connection. When I look at the modem (cable), it says that it is connected to the internet. I have to reset both the router and modem to get it to start working again. I have tried connecting my computer directly to the modem, and still no internet, even though it displays on the modem that there is, but I am still not sure if it is the modem, router, or possibly the connection itself-hence my question, is it even possible to overload the router, and would these symptoms be characteristic of such an issue? It only really seems to happen whenever there is a lot going on through the wireless connection. Thanks! Also, the 360 and PS3 are not connected wirelessly, but they are connected to the router, if that makes any difference, everything else is wireless though. moreResolved Question: What is the fastest Wireless Broadband In the PHIL? I have Virgin Media broadband (2MB) I had a free upgrade to 10MB around 5 months ago. My download speed is quite fast, faster than it used to be with 2MB. So when I got to check my speed (speedtest.net) the download speed first of all stays at around 2.60MB per second, but then it just suddenly shoots up to 47MB???? And thats what I get as my final result? I'm not sure this is true though... So whats my real internet speed? moreVoting Question: What Allows for Fast DSL Speeds When Far From C/O?
We're looking at office space for a very small company (currently 2 employees; looking to grow to 8-10 over next 2 years). As we're an online intensive business, affordable broadband is a VERY important deciding factor in selecting office space. We know if we get this wrong, it's like the difference between $1,200/year vs. $5,000+/year in overhead. In looking for offices, we've run into 2 nearly identical situations, in towns about 20 miles apart, where AT&T and/or other DSL providers (MegaPath, NewEdge, SpeakEasy, Nuvox, etc.) are promising VASTLY different available DSL speeds. In both of these situations, the offices are pretty far from the C/O (in one case about 2 miles, in another case about 3-1/2 miles). What is the technology that allows AT&T and certain DSL providers to deliver DSL at distances pretty far from C/O? And how can we confirm whether or not the DSL provider or AT&T will actually be able to deliver BEFORE getting on the hook for an office lease and moving in? What would YOU ask for from the DSL provider, BEFORE signing the office lease? moreResolved Question: WHICH BROADBAND IS FASTER AND WIDER COVERAGE? DIGI OR CELCOM?

I know broadband speeds and download limits are increasing all the time, but who feels the level of content on some web pages is slowly getting out of control? That extra bandwidth should be spared for streaming Video, IP phone etc., and the PC's resources spared for other applications, processes & services running. I take the point that revenue needs to be generated from these advertisements, and that the companies paying for the ads want something eye catching, but some designers are taking "snazzy" too far... - Too many large advertisements - Flash/Java animations everywhere - Too many interactive banners that catch users out if clicked or hovered over with mouse accidently - Sneaky advertisements with large white padding around the border - Badly designed mouse-over events for drop down menus Web page designers are in too much of a rush to show off all the cool things they can do with their code. (Even the wizards at Yahoo! are a little guilty here). What they should be focusing on is ease of use and faster load times. Do we need to go back to a simpler way of presenting the information? Sometimes the most basic solution is the best.... I'd hate to be a 50 year old learning to use the web today (No offence 50 year olds out there!) moreResolved Question: Internet Verizon Vs. Comcast Delimma?
Ok so i am currently on Comcast. Not to happy with the service as it seems to go down on me almost every other night. I have replaced the router and the modem numerous times so i have already ruled that out as a possibility. My friend was telling me that broadband is faster than cable. I don't know whether or not that is true so maybe you guys can shed some light on the situation. Do you think i should get an upgrade with comcast as i am currently on their 20mbps plan or go to verizon and take a drop in speed to 3mbps which is all that is offered in my area at the moment. Which is better ? My area currently doesn't have access to Verizon FiOs so that is ruled out as a possibility. Just wondering what you guys thought was better having a Verizon 3mbps connection or a comcast "Supposedly" 20mbps connection that seems to always go down and up. btw i have called comcast on this speed problem and all they do is reset the connection and tell me to try it again. They are never any help when it comes to that.Basically i'm just looking for reliability. If that means i have to take a speed drop then so be it. Thanks for all the answers so far.Oh, i forgot to add. If anyone suggests AT&T it is currently not available in my area and it probably never will be. Asked the AT&T rep and i was told that i live in Verizon country so pretty much out of luck there. moreResolved Question: Best and Cheapest mobile broadband service?

My dad and I share the internet threw a "Linksys EtherFast 10/100 Broadband Router." His computer is the main computer, my computer is in the second port, and netflix is connected in the third port, all using ethernet cables. So when my dad is on the internet,I'm on the internet, and netflix is taking info from my dads internet (the main internet Computer) and being sent threw the third port on the router to our tv, it seems much slower when all 3 ports actively using the internet connection. This therefore, I think, makes my computer slow down?? So... 1. Is there a way to get this to be faster, like a devise you can buy, or something we can do? 2. Are we taking our one internet connection and splitting it three ways, like when my dads comps on the internet, im on the internet, and netflix is getting its connection from my dads internet too?! It seems to me that the more things you plug into (split threw) the router the weaker the connection?? This is all a tiny bit confusing as could could probably gather. I'm having a hard time trying to explain it, sorry. Well any answers would be appreciated greatly, thanks!!Ok I called my ISP, there is one step up from the highspeed internet we get now, its called highspeed gamer. what we have now is 7.0 Mbps x 512 Kbps highspeed. Any suggestions?I have peer guardian so I am really not worried about them getitng any of my info, even my IP address. So I do not think that is it. When I go to my friend house, who has about 3-5 mb/s, I can download lightning fast, like 200 kb/s using his wireless. moreResolved Question: How can i make my computer run faster when i only have a 1.1 usb port?
My computer is quite old,its a dell latitude C640,im not very clued up on computers and i never used it much so i got rid of my broadband and just bought a usb dongle. It works ok but a message appears saying this device works faster with a hi speed usb 2.0 port, the problem is my computer only has one usb port and im sure it is only 1.1 When i go onto facebook i cant play the games because of this, does anyone know how i can make my computer run faster or is it just too old now.Emails and other things run not too badly but i want to be able to play games. Thanks in advance for any advice. moreTop Fast Broadband Links
