Netzero Broadband Questions asked
Resolved Question: Are there any good broadband ISPs that don't cost $30-50 a month?
I've been stuck with dial-up ever since I first got a computer back in 2003 (I live out in the middle of nowhere). Used to use MSN as an ISP, they started dropping my connection too much so I swtiched to Netzero. They were pretty good until they introduced a half-assed proprietary dialer that you absolutely HAVE to use to get onto the internet.
I'm sick of dial-up, but I can't afford $30-50 per month for an internet connection...please help me out here. There's got to be cheaper alternatives that this.
moreResolved Question: how can i safely bypass craigslist anti spam policy so i can post ads for various types of business posting..?
im not interested in becoming a mass spammer, but craigslist will block you for spam if you post in 2 different cities which is ridiculous but thats what have too work around etc... does anyone have any suggestions? i currently use cricket broadband and im wondering if i should goo too a dial up service too keep the IP address fresh and block my number when logging in etc... im told that using a dial up is the best way too keep changing the IP addresses? i just want too get around craigslist and be able too post things in another city and do so without tweakin their spam filter and then having the headache of being blocked if that happens... im guessing that the IP addresses are static and dynamic, with a dial up things are dynamic? and a dial up would offer me more flexibility with changing IPs any opinions?
not intereste?d in spamming, just getting a post in 2 cities... thanks
oh and if a dial up is good, then do you have a recommendation on what dial up service too use? netzero? aol? where do purchase a dial up service? or any info on rotating IP addresses and emails?
moreVoting Question: CRAIGSLIST QUESTION.. somehow my passwords are stolen/changed on my criaglist accounts! how?
somehow all of my passwords stopped working on my craiglist accounts! how could this be? then i set up a new account or 2 and then after using the accounts for a few days the password does not work! its as if someone is literally following my movements on craiglist and whatever i set up they are gone! I have talked with a person in another city with the same symptoms and they were hijacked via a 3rd party hacker. ( evidence of 3rd party IP address using his accounts) naturally I emailed over 24x and on the 25th they replied that they believe my account is hijacked and they are investigating lol.. now, i know im screwed on being able too use craigslist free of hassle, so in order too re establish some new accounts with a new IP address do i just change my wireless broadband service? in other words my IP address and possibly my identity has been compromised along with my passwords and who knows maby me financial data as well. so, I currently have CRICKET BROADBAND, in order too change my whole IP and tech data should i just go too cricket and ask for new modem too plug in or do i need too change laptops or both? or should i change too another new internet model such as netzero or go through my local high speed cable service for a new modem etc... how do i change how im identified online? i need a new IP address, can i do so by trading in my modem for an new account under an identity theft clause? or just dump cricket completely? hell i ll go with netzero dial up etc..
any ideas? how do you change all of this too end being scammed and having my passwords stolen etc..
im wondering how the hell my passwords are figured out and are stolen rendering my accounts inaccessible and useless.... im single and no one uses my laptop but me... what would you do?

moreResolved Question: Something is wrong with my internet connection, I need some help?
I'm hooked on with MSN dial-up, and it normally should be getting about 40kbps. But for some reason it's way down in the 15-20 range, and if I'm lucky in the 30s. I thought it was my modem so I bought a new one, thank god I didn't spend much on it because it didn't help at all. I switched the phone line wire, no change. And I get the "Cannot find server, page cannot be displayed" error just about every page I visit. It's been losing the connection a lot more often now as well. It can't be a virus or malware, I've scanned with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, Avira Anti-Virus, and Super Anti-spyware Free Ed. All with updated definitions and everything, it's clean.
So I've got it narrowed down to this. It's either something screwy going on with MSN, or maybe it's my hard drive needing reformatted. I have a habit of system restoring every month or so and it messes up my updates and .NET frameworks and stuff like that. But the reason I don't just reformat is because I have an OEM version of WindowsXP, thus I don't have an install disk to bring it back to life. But on the other hand, I have another hard drive with Puppy Linux installed and it drops the connection as well, just not as much. So it's gotta be MSN. I just wanted to see if there's anyhting I can do before I call them up.
As a side question, how is Netzero? MSN has been charging $23 a month, which is outrageous compared to Netzero's $9.95 a month. I've been thinking really hard about switching. I'd go with something faster like broadband but it's a bit too expensive for me at the moment. And DSL isn't even available in my area..
moreResolved Question: What is the difference between netzero and broadband service?
I am looking to save money and need to find a way to cut the bills. I saw a commercial for net zero internet service and it says service is $9.95 and I went online and then it says, it is dial up service I have no idea what that is or what equipment you would need to have it. Do you get a modem or do you need to purchase one is it connected only to land line phone service, or do you buy new phone service? I use broadband triple play now for years and it costs almost $200 a month. I need to downgrade.
moreVoting Question: Is it possible to hook my cell phone up to my pc for use as a modem with netzero free dial up?
I have an LG cf360 AT&T cell phone with the USB cable. I was wondering if I can use it as a dial up modem without using bluetooth. I also don't want broadband since I don't have a data plan. I simply want to hook my cell phone up to my computer and use the AT&T voice network to establish a good old fashioned dial up connection. The ISP I intend to use is Net zero. I intend to use their free 10 hour a month plan. Would it be possible to do this with my USB cable and phone? Also, if it is possible, do you know where I can find the driver for my cf360? My computer will recognize it in mass storage or music sync mode, but for data service, my computer doesn't know what a cf360 is. I need help establishing an internet connection. My area is getting more wired by the day. I can't even check my school grades without going online. The days of using the library connection are over because of budget cuts. They're open crazy hours. I need my own connection without spending a fortune. Please help me out. Thanks!

moreResolved Question: internet on my 'dell mini' please help?
i recently got a dell inspiron 1545 laptop, my question is how do i get internet on it? when i was at my friends house it worked compeltly fine with his wireless connection, but at my house i dont have a wireless router, i only have a ethernet cable (well a networking cable, but the people at walmart said it was the same thing) when i plug it into the ethernet hole in my cpu it says there is an unidentified network.(sometimes it says that plus, 'there was no dial up modem found) Than another thing is when i click on the two little computer icon things, and hit connect to a network, it says windows cannot find any networks. So, i hit Set up a connection or network & choose connect to the internet 'set up a wireless, broadband, or dial up connect to the internet' it only says i can connect with a wireless or broadband connection. The box i can check off that says 'show connection options that this computer is not set up to use' is when the dial up option comes up. my internet on my computer is netzero. so i would have to use that one. So apparently, i cannot use dial up connection so i guess my real question is if i buy a wireless router, will it even work? And what kind do i need? And since my computer already says a modem is installed, do i still need to buy a seprate modem? Or does anyone know a way to make the ethernet/networking cable work? Someone please help, this is so confusing! :(
moreResolved Question: $50 a month too much for broadband?
The only company that reaches my area charges $50 a month for their cheapest DSL service. I mainly want it to play my ps3 online, but my income is quite limited. I have looked everywhere, but I can't find any other options for service. Netzero wears a body down, after a while.

moreResolved Question: How does a NetGear router work? I need help.?
I'm gonna try to not rattle on with a long story so I'll try and make it short.
I bought a 54Mbps NetGear Wireless Router.
I have a 2Wire modem that Netzero gave me for free to get a DSL connection.
And I have NetZero Broadband DSL
Here's my problem, I did as everything said on the instructions and I couldn't get a connection.
When I connected the NetGear router ONLY, it gave me a window that said to try to make a connection but it said i needed the router and modem connected, fine. I did that and i got a blank page and no connection.
I wanna know, how can I get my router and modem running so i can get a connection? I want Wifi for my sisters laptop, yet be connected with my PC but it doesn't seem to be working out.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

moreResolved Question: Why won't Wifi MAX for DS and Wii not connect through my Dial-up?
Sorry this is so long...
Hello. I bought a WIFIMAX from Datel a little while ago. I have spent days upon days trying to get this little booger to work...... Here is a list of my problems:
1. Wii will detect network adapter, but wont connect through internet (error code 52030: Cannot connect to the internet).
2. In the Zydas control hub, under 'more setting...', there is no option for my Dial-up modem in the Bridge Adapter drop-down box.
Ok. In regards to number 1, the Wii has 2 out of 3 bars signal strength, so that's not the issue. In addition, it works fine until it does the 'connection test'. That is when it tells me the adapter couldn't connect the console to the internet.
In regards to number 2, I read someone else's answer to this. They said to uninstall the Zydas drivers, make sure I am connected to the net, and reinstall to make the modem option under Bridge Adapter appear. It didnt work. Now, it just has a blank box for Bridge Adapter.
--------------------------------------------------------
PLEASE NOTE that I DO IN FACT have my modem set to share the network, so don't give me that crap...I've already gotten far too much of that. The Firewall is also totally shut off.
The Zydas hub is also set correctly to Access Point mode. In addition, I have tried many different channels for the hotspot, too... I'm assuming my problem is with that Bridge Adapter thingy.
I have used the WifiMAX software to configure it, and It says it should work fine....
I am running:
ISP: Netzero HISpeed 3G
OS: Windows XP Service Pack 2
Modem: AC97 SoftV92 Data Fax Modem with SmartCP
Another factor might be that I am running Norton Antivirus, and I cant figure out how to shut it off without uninstalling it, so.....would that affect it? I'm just so fed up with this thing...
Before you go on a rant about Dial-up being suckily, I must say that broadband cable isn't available out here in the sticks, and my parents are too cheap to get sattellite.
I have read posts from plenty of WifiMAX users saying that they use it with Dialup, so I know it works, somehow...
I really want wireless....really bad.....please help!!!
-A sad and confused nerdREPLY TO USER: "u love meeee"
Routers won't work with dial-up, will they?MAJOR UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:
I found an FAQ for setting the WifiMAX up and Datel says that it is NOT compatible with ANY dial up connection because it wont show up in the bridge adapter box...
My question is, how did other users use dialup with it?!?!?
-__- I am just so sick of this thing...
The box said, "Turn ANY internet enabled computer into a Wifi Hotspot!".
Screw Datel's false advertising.....

moreVoting Question: is it possible to get dial up internet without having a landline phone connection? If not then...10 points!?
I just got into a mobile home with my father and it looks like there is only one place to connect a phone or a modem, and I am not even sure if it is working right because it looks loose and messed up. I don't even know if there is a way I could test it. We do not have a landline phone because we can't afford it, instead relying on my prepaid cell phone. I also can't afford broadband internet, so I tried to install netzero, which is dial up, from a cd I had. The cd told me to make sure the computer was plugged into a phone jack by a modem, so I plugged the modem into that phone jack. But it nkept saying it did not detect that it was connected. So does this mean that the phone jack is not working, or does it mean I can't get dial up without having a landline phone connection? How can I even know if the phone jack is working? Because if I plug a phone into it, I may not get a dial tone since I do not have landline service.

moreResolved Question: If I switch from dial-up to broadband, won't I lose my primary email address?
The company which currently provides my internet connection (netzero) doesn't offer broadband service in my community. If I were to use a local internet company to provide broadband service on my computer, wouldn't I lose my netzero email address? Is there any means of keeping that address once I have switched to broadband?
I would not be willing to lose all my contacts in order to make the switch (and I do not keep an "address book" as I choose to type email addresses in individually each time I correspond).

moreResolved Question: Cheap Broadband Provider?
I need a cheap Broadband Internet provider. Not Dial up (slow as hell! I pity anyone that is on it), DSL(an upgrade but still not as fast), but Broadband(HEAVEN!) We have had broadband for about 3/2 years now. My family and I love it. However, we get it through the only cable provider in our town, Cable One. My mom didn't want to sign the $29.99 year contract with them because she wasn't planning on staying with them that long so she decided to pay the 50.00 a month no contract. However things didn't go her way and we ended up staying on for 3 years and counting. Now she is stuck paying $50.00 a month for a originally $29.99 service. They told her she can switch to the $29.99 one but for strange and moronic reason the internet would have to be cut off for 3 months before she can. Since my sisters and I are in college she can do that, but my sisters who go to college closer to our town come home every Friday and they are ,lol ,somewhat addicted to the internet so they don't want her to cut it off. Three months without the net would kill them especially since it's boring as hell in our town. So what would be a cheap broadband provider? I was thinking of going with NetZero or People's PC.
Ps. I don’t know if there are different versions of broadband available, but the one we have uses this.http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=3327595 Exactly what you see in the pic is the one we have(except ours isn’t wireless). No stupid phone etc. Just this hooked to the back of our PC.

moreResolved Question: My internet is not working, can anyone help me?
Basically my problem is that for some reason both my web browsers (IE and firefox) are not registering my broadband connection, and I have ravaged the control panel to find a way to fix it. First of all, it is a windstream broadband modem, and all the necessary lights are on. There should be no problem there. I am sure it is connected to the computer, too, because it registers a 10 mbps connection on the LAN 2 connection, in the appropriate section of the control panel. Every time I open Firefox, it asks me to connect to either alltel or netzero, both of which are dial-up. I am using Windows XP service pack 2, and this all happened very suddenly. Please help.

moreResolved Question: Switching 2Wire DSL to another ISP?
I've been using AT&T DSL for about 3 years and last Monday my internet service was shut off. It's been a whole to-do to turn it back on it and it's not worth it, AT&T is being less then helpful so I decided to cancel the service and switch to NetZero.
Right now I'm connected through NetZero's Hi-Speed Dial-Up. I was wondering, is it possible for me to use my 2Wire HomePortal Modem (that I used through AT&T) and get a faster connection through broadband? How would I do this?
moreResolved Question: Whose dial-up internet is faster?
I need the cheapest dial-up connection. But at the same time I don't want to settle down for the slowest one! IS there such a thing as a fast dial-up (not talking about DSL or broadband because it's not available in my area). Which company provides the fastes dial-up? ATT, Netzero, PeoplePC, AOL, etc...Please advise!
moreResolved Question: Does Cable/DSL providers have a built in "Web Browser" so that you can browse the web from their main page?
Or do you have to click on "Internet explorer" or some other browser to search the web? I know some dial up providers such as Netzero and AOL and Peoplepc have their own web browsers that the user can use to search the web without having to use other popular browsers such as "Firefox" or "Opera".
So do the Broadband internet providers (Cable and DSL) do they have built in web browsers or do you have to just use your "Internet explorer" or "Firefox" browser (or whatever browser you have on your pc).
moreResolved Question: Does it hurt/slow down my comp to have Earthlink, AOL, and NetZero installed at the same time??
I am paying for AOL dial-up service but it was too slow so i got Earthlink DSL... (when i look at my Network Connection now though i see under LAN/High Speed Internet: Cisco Systems VPN Adapter,Cisco Systems VPN Adapter, under Dial-Up: NetZero, Earthlink, Earthlink123, and under Broadband it lists Earthlink again as an option...? )
So now my internet is way slow.... is having all these programs on my computer the reason my internet is slow? Why do i have so many catagories ?? Which ones should i get rid of ?? I don't want to be paying for all of these, and i can't see having so many connections as a good thing (right?)-So could anyone reccomend one over the others ??? :- / I've tried calling customer service but they each only reccomend their own product...and i'd like an unbiased opinion.... the Earthlink Smart Installer always promts me to install its software each time i reboot my computer... is that normal ?? (cuz its really annoying and i don't know why it asks me to install it all over again !)

moreResolved Question: what is the least expensive/best..1) phone service 2) car insurance 3) broadband internet service?
what is the least expensive/best...
1) phone service? I keep hearing commercials for vonage saying it is only $24.99/month for unlimited nationwide calls, but is that really the best/cheapest? Anyone know of any that are cheaper?
2) car insurance? I keep hearing that geico is the best/cheapest overall. Anyone know if this is true?
3) broadband internet service? I keep hearing commercials for netzero, which is only $9.99/month. But is that for broadband, or just dial up? Is it the cheapest?
Also, one more question
4) if my father has an outstanding balance on his credit report with Verizon, will he still be able to get phone service with another company?
I need to know the above because my father and I may be getting into a mobile home, and if we do I should like to have the least expensive services so we can save money. Also, I am 21 and still can't drive, but I would like to have the least expensive insurance in the event I learn to drive.
