Resolved Question: How to recover data in damaged HDD?

I have new HDD. Only 4 months ago when I bought Seagate Barracuda 7200.11. Suddenly it can't boot up. It says "Disk read error". Before it happens, the HDD made squeaky noise, not often, but unusual, and took unusually longer time to read/write or access than normally it does. Then I used SeaTools software to check it for errors. It returned "write cache failed to write file X to disk". I suspect that the motor doesn't run. If it indeed doesn't rotate, is it possible to recover the data? Is there any cheap data recovery services in South East Asia area?Is it possible to make it back to spin? Because, spending thousands of dollars is not that worth it. more

Resolved Question: Where can I find a relatively "cheap" data recovery service in the Minneapolis area?

My HP Pavilion dv2000 laptop stopped working a few months ago. The screen is just blank but the power cord indicator light still works when it's plugged in. I did everything that the HP site said to do in an attempt to fix it, but it didn't work. I think the computer is just a lost cause now, but I still need to get all my data from it, because I didn't have any backup files made. I need a relatively cheap data recovery service (but still a good, reliable one.) and I live in the Minneapolis area, so located in this area would even be better. Thanks! holy crap, i am so angry, my 500gb seagate was running fine, then it started humming very loudly, made a large clunk, and does not work. seagate wants 1,400$ (!!!) to recover my 120GB of lost data. is there a cheaper data recovery service anyone knows of? Or is there anyway to make a broken (it rattles loudly if you shake it, its fried.) hard drive usable to recover data? Thanks for the help! more

Hello, I have a Hp Pavilion tx1320us notebook. On a hot garage sale morning, I left my laptop on the front seat of my moms car and it overheated which caused the hard drive to crash. Now I am on hunt for a data recovery service that is cheap or maybe even a USB or something I could use. Please Help Me!! I have been told to buy the wrong products that don't recieve information a dead hard drive. The hard drive can still be detected, but when you restart the laptop it only brings you to the background color of my desktop and it stays there. If you know anything, please let me know!! I have an Acer laptop that won't do more then show the "user page" not allowing me to sign in, because of what the tech guy called an apparent drop to the floor. Either way, the point is that i cannot, to my knowledge, get data off the computer through the obvious methods if i cant even log in. i am wondering what you have found to be the cheapest way to retrieve my files from the still-fine internal hard drive. the tech guys were trying to charge me outrageous money to probably use an enclosure or "housing"? I got a 320 GIG Simpletech External USB Hard Drive about 6 months ago, and it's been working great, until about 2 weeks ago. One day, the hard disk stopped spinning. I panicked, but about 3 hrs later it started again. Then it kept going on and off every time somebody bumped the table it was on. Finally it stopped working and hasn't started since. The electronics work fine, and my PC sees it but doesn't recognize it. The disk obviously has stopped spinning. This all happened while i'm editing a video project for school, that's about 50-60 Gigs. Figures. Anyway, I'm freaking out, and I'm wondering if there's some way to back up the info on the drive. I really need that video footage, because i've put a lot of work into it. Can I do it myself? I know there are services out there that can do data recovery; What's the best/cheapest way to get my data back? Is it possible? PS-My Hard Drive is under warranty, so i'm getting a new one, but i still need my video!! more
