Resolved Question: I bought a domain name and am kind of lost on hosting. I would really like to find free redirection?
I have a domain name registered with Google (gdomains through godaddy). I really love having everything handled through Google. I love the email, I'm used to the platform for my DNS settings, I like their file hosting, I have advertising credit, the registration price is perfect and includes 50 usernames and 90 CNAMES. The only thing is I really really don't like the Google Sites hosting platform. I know this isn't ideal but I'm really not ready to do a full transfer to a new host. Basically I just want something that will allow me to redirect my already registered domain name to a basic webpage that I can create through the host site. I have my own layout coded and everything and had my site up on Blogger, which was pretty close to how I want it in terms of features but it wasn't giving me the freedom I wanted to add extra pages and things like that. To water it down my site is basically a "blog" but I need 5 separately archived pages so you can see how that would be a problem with something like Blogger. Especially with my CNAMES because blog sites don't allow naked URLs. I use Webs for free hosting on smaller projects but I'm not sure if I trust them with my domain, plus I can't afford a premium package right now. I don't need the extra storage space or any of the other perks of a package deal right away, I know if I start getting traffic I will need to upgrade but I already have more than enough assets through Google to get started. If anyone has any suggestions or tips or even just hosting sites they would recommend that would be really helpful.@ledfrog.com- Yeah, that's pretty much exactly what I want to do, I just need to find a host that lets me do that. I think my biggest issue right now is just the fact that most of the host sites I'm finding make me pay monthly for so many things that I'm already getting through Google for only $10 a year (like a domain name, subdomains, POP/IMAP email, image hosting, etc) and I don't want to pay for all of it. I just want a place I can get my html up and start posting. moreResolved Question: where can i find a free domain dame registration site that deals with .com?

how much did u pay? i paid 6 for a year http://labradesign.com tell me if it looks pro moreVoting Question: Are there any websites that offer domain name registration price comparison information?
There are so many companies doing domain name registration it can take a while to look around and find a good deal. Are there any websites that make this process easier by, for example, a price comparison of domain name registration companies? moreResolved Question: Why did Yahoo take a dollar from me?
About two days ago I was shopping for a hosting provider for my domain. I have been with Yahoo! Small Business in the past and had nearly completed checkout when I was informed of a better deal. I went elsewhere. I don't recall any credit card information being entered, but my memory is fuzzy and it's plausible I may have. In any case, I did not continue with either the registration of a domain or the hosting package as a whole. I simply exited the browser and began a new session to buy my plan from another provider. I checked my bank statement today and the card with which I would have payed Yahoo had been debited exactly $1. Does anyone know what's up? moreResolved Question: Shouldn't there be some sort of regulation over domain name resellers?
I get so sick of dealing with this stuff. How can these people have the nerve to ask $100+ for something that cost them $8-$15 to register. It just kills me that i get clients that have certain domain names in mind, i search for the domains and find they have been registered, but the site is just some generic page with a big "This domain is for sale." When i tell the client how much it costs, it might seem like i am trying to jack the price up on them. I had one client that was dead set on the domain name, so i purchased it for $100 and then had to renew the registration 3 months after the purchase. I am very reasonable on my pricing when it comes to design, i dont pump the price of the registration or hosting up. How do i tell clients that the site name they want, which should cost $8-$15 to register for a year, costs 10-20x's more. I know i could appeal to the ICANN to try to get the domain, but the process would take too long.mike, that is true to an extent, but if thats acceptable behavior, then why would ICANN take domains away from people so it can be used for a legitimate business? They may have registered it and held the registration for some time, but they do not own anything. The government owns it. We are basically leasing it moreResolved Question: Is this a new type of internet fraud( identity theft)?

Right now I have godaddy.com but I would like to register with a company that hides my registration information. It's an extra $7 if I want to do that with godaddy which makes the total about $14/year. Can you suggest any better deals? Please don't suggest 1and1.com because I have had horrible experiences with them. Thanks! moreResolved Question: How can I get a disabled account re-activated?
Updated... I had an account that I opened for correspondence with godaddy.com for domain name registrations. I got an extended, multi-year deal with them, so I haven't logged into the yahoo account in a while, and it got disabled. Of course, this is the address that godaddy is expecting, so setting up a new yahoo account with a different ID isn't going to work. What are my options? Can this yahoo ID be un-disabled? I've gotten two responses so far telling me WHY my account got disabled, which I already know, and wasn't my question. I don't care about recovering lost/deleted email or anything - I just need to be able to be that ID so godaddy knows I'm me. Registering again from scratch with that same ID would be ideal, but yahoo isn't allowing me to do that, either. In other words, I don't need the account un-deleted, I need it un-disabled. Thanks. moreResolved Question: How can I get a disabled account re-activated?

moreResolved Question: Which hosting option works best for a fledgling website developer?
I had someone ask me to develop a website for his business (he wants to do it cheap). I tried to talk him out of it, because I'm inexperienced at doing business websites. It's a learning experience for me, so I agreed to do it for FREE! Here's the thing: I've developed websites before, but for organizations and churches, and personal use. Never for a business: different audience and set of requirements, and goals. What's the best hosting/domain-name solution for a commercial site? My preference is to do everything with one outfit: hosting, registration, and site building, like GoDaddy. But is that the best way? Is there any justification for using separate companies to handle the hosting, and registration, then I would create the site from scratch using NetObjects or FrontPage (which would require a great deal more design/build time). What's your advice? (aside from comments like "just hire a professional," etc.) moreResolved Question: best domain name registration place?
I want to register a domain name without the hassle of a package deal and all the hoopla. Which is a good place to trust?GoDaddy it is...Thanks! moreResolved Question: If I earn one of those free domain name registrations, what do I do next?
How do I use it for email? How do I use my current (free) website with it? I really don't understand why I need one anyway? What's the big deal about using a sub domain? So what if I give my host a little advertising - big deal - if it weren't for ads, there would only be half as much to read on the Internet anyway! I'll probably use Google Ad Words, so I accept that ads are an inevitable part of it all. Of course, it would be a lot easier to list only one URL on my business cards, instead of one for each website! But, I am going to need the Domains for Dummies version of an answer to this question! Uh - Duh! :-( moreResolved Question: anyone else been the victim of godaddy?
