hello , i am trying to web host at home with my ibm x345 server . i have a block of 8 static ip's and 1 of them is assigned at the modem router,1 on my server thru tcp-ip and another static ip assigned thru tcp-ip as default gateway and primary dns. i installed iis6 and created the default web site.. now i install the DNS server role so my pc became ns1 with his static ip resolving dns i create a forward zone and reverse with the name of my site 123.com so that gives me ns1.123.com using my servers static ip I also create a hostA record ns1 with my server's static IP now i go to my domain registrant page to change the nameservers to ns1.123.com with IP my server's static ip... when i do nslookup the response i get is dsldevicelan.com with my server's primary dns adress and not his static ip .... ? do i also have to do something to link DNS SERVER ROLE WITH IIS ? i know i am doing something wrong and i need your help - a good example on how to make this work i appreciate all your answers , THANK YOU more

There is something that I do. It's kind of odd. On all of my dollar bills, I write "Xeena Was Here". Xeena is an online pseudonym I use. Hello, I have built and XHTML page with some CSS attached to it. I would like to have it on the internet. I would also like to attach a www.website.com/forums directory to it where I could have some phpBB forums or something like that. I went to GoDaddy to try and purchase a domain, which is what I thought I needed. Going through the process I noticed an option for "Website and Hosting" for about $5 a month. Do I need to get this, or is it just some kind of "Website Builder" for people who want templates and that kind of stuff? I have an FTP program and I'm familiar with uploading things to an already-created site, but I've never really gone through the set-up. Also, I don't want to spend like $60/year unless I have to. I want the clients to be able to have their own domain name in my website. i.e. if for example my websites has a domain name, myweb.com, then a client can choose the http://www.mywebclient.com for example for his/her profile, instead of me giving him/her a URL like http://www.myweb.com/mywebclient or a subdomain http://mywebclient.myweb.com Say I have an explicit server computer for my website. then that would be easy if I could have unlimited number of domain names for my server IP. I could check the HTTP request header and see by which domain name am I being called, then respond accordingly. I know it is possible but in the web hosting style, you have to upload your pages for each domain name in it's own dedicated space in the server. Is it possible to avoid this last part and just have, say, hundreds of domain names for one IP handled by one webApp? Is there another way? more

I'm running Windows XP Professional. I'm pretty new when it comes to setting up and configuring servers. I'm setting up ACT by Sage Premium for Web for my boss, which is a customer database program. When everything is said and done, its supposed to allow you to type in an IP or domain and access the program and information database from a computer acting as a web server. I've opened port 80 on both my router and windows firewall, installed and somewhat configured IIS, SQL and ASP.net, made 3 impersonation accounts etc. I forgot to mention that my IP is not static (I'll be using DynDNS). Anyway, I made a small html file to test access to the host computer web server and put it the webroot. When I type in my public IP (http://99.35.144.###) it doesn't connect to my server or the html page like I thought it should. What am I doing wrong here? Thanks!When I run http://localhost it says my page is now running and gives me the default welcome screen.it was named mytestfile.html I renamed it both home.htm and default.htm and nothing happened.UPPDATE: Figured it out! I was trying to access the server from inside the router. Once I used an outside computer it worked fine. more

Okay, so I recently bought a domain on xisto.com. Now, I want my domain( Without a subdomain, e.g. 'whatever.weebly.com') to show up wherever the person goes on the website. So I set up an account on zymic.com. Now, first I created an index.html page (a small one, pretty basic).I decided I wanted a homepage, and a forum. Now, the homepage shows up as mywebsite.com. But when I go to the forum directory (located in /forums/), my website shows up as mywebsite.zxq.net/forums/index.php. I want it to show up as mywebsite.com/forums/index.php. It's the subdomain. I REALLY want to get rid of that. It looks so utterly unprofessional. Does zymic have an option for this, or do I have to switch to another web host to change this? hi. i'm 16. yesterday i bought MobileMe, and I set up a website - and now it's put it onto an address at http://web.me.com/(my mobileme username). but, if i wanted to buy a domain (.com) name for it, would i know i'd need to buy the domain name i want for about £9.99/yr, but, would i have to buy "web hosting" as well for £2.99/month if I want to upload my iWeb stuff to a .com url? or, do you just buy the domain name, and then somehow set it so you upload iWeb to the domain name? i'm a bit confused lol - and... sorry if i sound a bit confusing. thanks in advance, and i will choose a best answer :D more

Hi, I am trying to set up a webpage under my domain. I have purchased a domain I have set up an index page I think I have set up a DNS server (With Windows Web Server 2003) When I use network tools to trace DNS server on my website, it returns with: Retrieving DNS records for Domain.com... DNS servers n1.Domain.com [Server IP] n2.Domain.com [Server IP] ns1.Domain.com [Server IP] ns2.Domain.com [Server IP] Answer records Domain.comNSgwp.dns3600s Domain.comSOA server:gwp.dns email:hostmaster@dns serial:2 refresh:900 retry:600 expire:86400 minimum ttl:3600 360 Problem is, when I try to open the website, it doesn't connect When I try using anonymouse, it returns an either Error Timeout, or Unable to determine IP address from host name The DNS server returned: Server Failure: The name server was unable to process this query. Any ideas? Thanks! P.S. I can't manage to get the Active Directory working due to the fact that Web Server edition's lack in DCPROMO Oh, the name of the jargon that describes the address to forward would be most helpful, there are just sooo many I.P. Alright, so I've been given the task to create the new church website at the church I go to. I have little experience with this, and don't know a whole lot, but I figured I'd give it a shot. We've got hosting with GoDaddy, and I have FrontPage, so I thought it would be pretty easy. However, GoDaddy is not letting me use FrontPage to upload it directly (something to do with having web hosting instead of just the domain; not completely sure, but it won't work). So, I need to know if there is an easy way to save the page in FrontPage where it is an HTML file that I can upload. What I have tried to do is copy and paste the source code into NotePad, but all of the images won't work once it's uploaded (I know why this is, basically at least). If you've got any suggestions, all will be appreciated. Thanks more
