The first problem is that in Romania are much Hungarian people in our zone, (Transilvania) my target is also the Hungarian and Romanian people too. During a recent malware infection, firefox, IE, and chrome all got redirected to ad sites whenever I tried to visit any of several common sites (google.com, microsoft.com, etc.). I've seen this happen on many other computers as well. How the heck do they do this? I checked the etc/hosts file, as well as the routing table (with route print), but couldn't find anything for those sites in either place. Is there some hidden registry key that stores static domain - IP mappings, or something? I've long since cleaned up the infection, so I'm just curious now, but the how's of this have been bugging me for a while. more
