Resolved Question: Is there an all-in-one web hosting, ecommerce, email marketing w/ metrics plus CMS solution?
Must meet ALL criteria, built-in. Need WYSISYG editor and/or user-friendly, non-coding content development and management. It's for small business so price is a consideration. Also to not be restricted to template use is a huge plus. moreResolved Question: What do you think of my ecommerce website?
http://www.doublehappinessrecords.co.uk/ It's very basic... Hopefully all the basic information is there though. I'm not very skilled on web design to be honest. For the technically minded I am using FrontPage 2002. I am still trying to work out how to get images into OSCommerce from an external host so there are no product images yet... NB No offers of paid assistance or links to your web design company please, thank you!I won't be paying anyone else to work on the site, I don't have the budget, can't justify the expense, I am 100% independent in my business dealings and intend to stay that way. It's no good for me to spend 2 years getting an ecommerce business going and then turn responsibilty over to someone else - not an option! moreResolved Question: Can i use the same webhosting server?
OK now my boss has a unlimited sized web hosting server and has 1 registered domain name. If i was to share the server with him.. could i install a completly different website on it aswell? Okay every hosting site I go to seem to say I need an eCommerce in order to build an online shop. I have already designed my website, and have the products ready to be listed, but do I really need an eCommerce to have an online shop? I want to have order forms for people to order from, and I want them to be able to use paypal, and money order. I manage an art cooperative & we want to get a web site. what I know is; e-commerce/paypal, the option to carry multiple websites (for members). what I don't know is: what is the most economical way to build, publish, host, get noticed & sell. moreResolved Question: How to install Oscommerce solution onto my server/website?
My website is blank at the moment. I was looking for a ecommerce solution and came across Oscommerce. It is a free software and at first looked pretty simple to install. Here is the problem...my hosting tells me to "Upload your web files into the " public_html " directory" - now Oscommerce tells me to "Extract this archive into your document root" - the bad part about it is I have no idea. This is my first website and I am really trying to learn without messing everything up. Ok, I have uploaded and extracted the file to my public html like my server said. Nothing happens - just whole bunch of other files. It says to change the permissions to 755 instead of 644 which from my assumptions I take it that this makes the files executable? So, I did this. Now it says type in your domain name/install in the browser bar and it will walk you through installing. Well nothing happens when I do that just a 404 message. Someone please help me install oscommerce!!! moreResolved Question: best shopping cart for ecommerce!?

what is the best solution for webhosting/ecommerce when it comes to starting an online business. right now i have an account with host-gator. I tried the whole yahoo stores/ebay stores {prostores} and hate the generic templates along with the monthly fee for using them. I just want to install my own shopping cart, from my knowledge i gained so far i like zencart and oscommerce, maybe cubecart. but if someone has a guide for webhosting it would be great or a checklist, heres what i need to know, plus any additional information you would like to give. best site for web hosting/ecommerce, using "host gator" right now. best merchant solutions along with best shopping cart. anything else i need to know? moreResolved Question: What is the best site for hosting an Ecommerce site?
I am in the process of owning my own online retail business. I've asked on yahoo answers about 3 times and keep getting treated as if I don't have a brain. That being said, what hosting site is the most reliable and offers the most services? I want to offer multiple ways for a customer to pay, such as paypal AND credit cards (some people don't know what paypal is... so please don't try convincing me to only use paypal). I also would like my customers to log in (so that they don't have to type in their information every time they buy an item). I would love a hosting site that offers templates because I like to create, but am not good at designing a web page without guidance. If you have any advice for my online store, I'd be happy to hear it. & if you don't know of any good hosting sites, I'd like information about sites you would recommend not using. (oh, and if you would like to put a link to your site, that'd be great. That way I can see an example of a template from the hosting site, and you can get some free marketing:) Thank you! moreResolved Question: About Hosting/Cpanel!?
Not sure how to goes about! I have just sign up a hosting website. I have my own domain from blog. Am looking a ecommerce setup! I currently have a website which uses a template from FreeSiteDesigner, but is hosted through my choice of Internet Service Provider. It is very easy and I want to stay with this ISP. As my site is a business site, the major drawback is I have many customers asking if they can purchase off my site, currently they cannot. As my business does not have the finances to stretch to getting a professional to do my site for me, I have the daunting task of doing it all myself. Today when out shopping, I spotted Serif's web designer WebPlus X2, at first glance it looked fantastic. Has anyone had any experience with WebPlus X2? I would like to look at using their program for my website and then upload my finished website to the company's site I use currently for hosting my site. I do not want to have a free webpage through WebPlus X2. Does anyone know whether this is possible please? Any other comments about WebPlus X2 would also be greatly appreciated. I really need eCommerce on my new webpages. Any advise also would be greatly appreciated. moreResolved Question: How do I start a drop shipping web site?
I want to start a home-based business and I've been wondering if drop shipping would be a good choice. I'd rather have my own ecommerce site using drop shippers than sell on eBay, since lots of other sellers there would be using the same suppliers as me. So what I need to know is: If I purchase only a drop shipping list of resources, how do I build the web site myself with all the shopping cart buttons and all? What web hosting features would I need? How do I promote a drop shipping web site? How profitable is a New Age niche? How reliable are drop shippers and how do I do deal with product inquiries, reeturns, etc.? Do I need any type of licensing or permit? How do I get it? What about taxes? Please don't try to promote any drop shipper in your replies. moreResolved Question: Is it legal for a web design company to start charging hosting fees before providing a viable website?
I hired a web design company several months ago to develop and host my website. There are several issues that need to be fixed before I can reasonably approve it. It is an ecommerce site, and too many obvious issues could dissuade potential customers. They seem to be fixing the appearance for individual items rather than fixing the programming issues. This means that as I add on more items, I am likely to have the same problems, again likely to dissuade potential customers. They are already charging me for the hosting.I sent an email to a product entry person who had been playing around fixing the appearance of several dozen items that were displaying in ways they should not have been rather than getting the programming issues fixed. My concern was that it would allow the same problems to continue as I add on more merchandise. Some items were listed twice, had the product code as the manufacturer, not just in display but also for a search by manufacturer function, or have extra copies of the same or other images. The response I got back was that I had to address any programming issues with my project manager. How can anyone justify playing around with the appearance to hide the fact that the programming is flawed instead of reporting the problems to someone who can fix it? I am not a programmer either, but when I see something that is obviously a programming issue, I take screenshots & describe it so that it can be dealt with. moreResolved Question: Should I pay $50/month for web hosting?
Hi, I am running an eCommerce business that requires a regular web server with PHP and databases. I know most of the popular hosts out there charge $4/month for stuff like this. But this particular company (not going to mention the name or else Yahoo might think this is an advertisement), says that they have more than 500,000 websites hosted, is specialized in business web hosting, guarantees 100% uptime, has 24/7 customer support, and basically says that they are "premium business hosting" and their pitch is that for $50/month you get the best quality hosting for your business (compared to $4-8/month). This is NOT dedicated server hosting. Just regular web hosting, but they have everything. Is this worth it? Would you do it for your business? moreVoting Question: which web hosting has the best ecommerce?
I am looking at Yahoo small business and web hosting pad. I don't want a shopping cart, i just want my customers to be able to use their credit card to purchase, kind of like Paypal. I would want the least expensive ecommerce plan for the shortest period of time. And it all has to be easy to set up because I know nothing about web design. NOTHING! moreResolved Question: I'm working on my own web-page, how do I do this though?
If your current internet provider is Earthlink, AOL, SBC Global and others which provide a homepage; you can easily FTP your own webpage designs as a new homepage created by DreamWeaver, FrontPage or even Netscape Composer. And using a redirection service such as mydomain.com or the forwarding of a parked domain name at godaddy.com, you can easily "mask" the homepage URL with a proper domain name. So in a sense, you have a working ecommerce website disguised as a homepage while still paying your normal monthly Internet provider's access and hosting fee of the homepage. moreResolved Question: how to create a classified ads website for free?

I am a student who is interested in selling downloadable files, such as fonts, brushes, etc. and am looking for something that is affordable off the bat. I need hosting, a domain, and the ability to have ecommerce as well. If there are no options cheap enough for the shop, can I use software through an FTP client to create and run my own? I know a little about web design and so on, it's just the whole online store thing that I'm not terribly familiar with. I am hoping for suggestions from people who have experience in this field, not from people who are affiliated with websites offering hosting.I am *NOT* looking for a job, and I am definitely not interested in Deviantart. I have heard people have lost traffic on their website (and hence business) when they changed their web hosting company from a better one to a cheaper one. My question is, apart from the the bandwidth which is usually enough for a text based website or the uptime of the server, is there any other reason I can loose traffic if I move my site to another cheaper server? Does the web hosting company affects the traffic at all if yes in what sense. Please help. Why shouldn't I move to a cheaper server which has myql? Every Top 10 Hosting Plans list I see is different. So those don't offer much help. Bluehost I've never heard of but keeps emerging as one of the best. I'm currently using godaddy which I REALLY DISLIKE. It's tortuous. Everytime you buy a domain, you're blasted with screens of more options to buy crap. I dislike godaddy hosting. I have about 8 domains and a hosting package currently on godaddy so if I switched I'd need to be able to transfer those. I REALLY like yahoo's search engine and answers! area, etc. But I am not sure about there webhosting. I'm starting a niche natural/eco-friendly ecommerce business and would like to use a green hosting company. I orginally was looking at using Yahoo's Small Business ecommerce solution simply because it's easy and everything is right "out of the box" plus it seems like a great way to get started with an ecommerce biz fairly easily. The only problem is their hosting isn't ecofriendly or "green". I would love to have a "green" web host since this goes along with my business and plus I don't want to be wasting energy. So my question is really two fold, 1) CAN I use a green" hosting service while at the same time using Yahoo's ecommerce solution 2) Which green hosting service is best? moreResolved Question: Suggestions on the best ecommerce web host(s) with quality templates and great hosting plans?
I'm having trouble selecting an ecommerce web-host. The templates most offer are just blah and I'm having a hard time finding one that offers all that I need. I am willing to pay up to about $60/mo. for a good host that includes: CC processing, SSL, allows unlimited products or at least 750-1000, shipping options, tax calculator & search engine on site. As far as template go, I could buy one for about $50 dollars, which is about all I have left in my budget to do so, but I wouldn't know how to install it & don't have Adobe PhotoShop either, which seems to be needed for most templates. I do have GIMP, can I use that instead? Any suggestions? Thanks. moreResolved Question: Hi, i want to host a website, ecommerce, and a forum. along with "unlimited domains" if possible...what...?

My ecommerce website was launced last year and my site designer has advised I am now due for the annual hosting fee £160. This is very expensive so I shopped around and have found a company who will host my site £47 for 2 years. Upon asking my site designer to change the codes etc... he wont release my website, advising this: "I cannot transfer the web site which is copywrited to my company. The reason is that all the files in the web site will then become available for anybody to view which will then make them available to anybody to copy and use on their site. Therefore, transfering the web site is not an option." Is this right, or good practice? Surely the website is my property as I have paid full price for it. Surely I cannot be tied to one host for the life of my website? Where do I stand on this matter? Any advice would be greatly appreciated... Thank you for your time.NB: I have never signed or seen a contract or have seen any terms or conditions relating to my website. moreResolved Question: Why is it expensive to setup a small scale website?
I'm reading a book on setting up a business from home, which said that even a small website will cost 1000s of dollars up front, but why? I have estimated that the total cost of my website is about $200 since I have bought a web site template with a shopping cart that I have customised myself, and I'm going to go with inmotion hosting which costs about $8 per month to host an ecommerce site. So the total cost is approximately $500. A merchant ID will take a small fee from every product I sell online and I will probably try and increase my market exposure through Amazon and Ebay. For my first year of trading I have set the goal of selling a 1000 units. So why is it going to be so expensive? At first try do choose a reliable business web hosting provider which is uptime. Hosting uptime refers to the percentage of time the host is accessible via the internet. It is very important your service be uptime (functioning and available for use). It means you can access your account whenever you want to update your web pages, and users can enter your website whenever they refer to your site address. I know zero about web hosting. Should I take a course to get me up to speed on some of the terminology used? I'm looking at a course syllabus and I'm not sure which class to take that would actually help me. From the following three, which would be the better class? *Computer Information Systems Introduction to internet and web publishing *Computer Information Systems Introduction to eCommerce *Computer Information Systems Introduction to web programming concepts or none of the above. I really need the structure of a classroom with someone teaching me. I don't have the discipline to research web hosting myself, and I would bug the **** out of the tech support department of any web hosting service if I just went at it with no basic knowledge whatsoever. Agree or disagree? moreResolved Question: Web Sites and Shopping Carts?
I'm a little overwhelmed in looking around for the best hosting for an online store site and the shopping cart thing. This may be a stupid question but if I have my own domain name can't I just pop on a pay pal or google shopping cart and be done with it or do I have to have one of the ecommerce hosting sites. I just want to clarify and make sure before I make a move. Thanks to all of those who know more than me. :^) moreResolved Question: What's the best web hosting site for a site with multiple games. i have a couple questions, first question i knwo the very basics of dreamweaver, web hosting, etc. i already have my domain and everything, but my question is this, i just want to sell some stuff online, open a ecommerce store for part time, would it be better to go with someone like "prostores" or would it be better to host it myself, my only question about hosting it myself is how to use a shopping cart, i dont quite understand how to exactly turn hosting into an online store, and how to make it secure, any help will be greatly appreciated. thanks moreResolved Question: Does anyone know a truly high quality web host?
Hey Yahooligans, First off, I'd like to list what I have used already: WebsiteSource ANHosting 1and1 HostGator Some were decent and was a good run for the money but they always seem to have some issues with compatibility with eCommerce carts or have random downtime because they over stuff their servers. I finally decided, I would either have to go VPS but I'd much rather pay $20 or below for a host, not $50. So as a last hope, I am asking the Yahoo community who have had personal hosting experiences to maybe give me a last glimpse of hope to use a Shared Host that can meet my needs, which aren't much at all, just be able to function with Zen Cart or let me be able to customize the PHP output mode. So please make your suggestion and by all means, if you use a VSP now, let me know how you like your company. A VPS seems much more likely to work for my businesses. If the VPS can also let me resell and create separate control panels, that would be a bonus! Heh. Warm Regards, Jason moreResolved Question: Help! Opening an online store and I need advice.
