Resolved Question: PleaseNeed some advice from some Certified I.T pros?

Comptia is offering a discount 20% off til june 30, 2010 on the net+. I was thinking about taking the exam b/c money is tight. I just don't know if I am ready I am currently taking a refresher course in a college for the exam to kind of go over somethings that I don't normally use in the field I got about 4yrs exp I have read like 4 chapters out of the Network + guide to network by tamara dean. The book came with Practice exam but the software is faulty its a certblaster I tested today in all 3 exams scored between 70% and 78% the problem is some of the question they said was incorrect I know for a fact were correct like it said that a fqdn(i answered it was a fully qualified domain name)it said it is a frequency modulation that hops channels. I decide to take to try some practice questions from comptia they directed me to measureup exams for a free 100questions I couldn't believe how hard that test was I felt like I was taking a cisco exam and security+ exam i failed 67% correct out of 100 I took the real A+ plus test from them it was so easy I finish both test within a hour and my field is more networking not computer repair so what gives on these exams? Is this test really that hard? Do you think I should take the exam now? I still have 8 weeks of refresher course to go but i will get a partial refund from the class and save 50 if i can pass it now What do you guys think? more

Resolved Question: How do you change the common name (CN) of the SSL Yahoo smtp server security certificate that Outlook 2003 use?

s? This seems to need to be done to correct the following error, after researching the error message: "The common name on the certificate does not match the fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of the URL that is stored in the certificate.", which generates the following error every time Outlook logs on to the smtp server [i.e., receives mail; it logs onto the outgoing server (smtp.plus.mail.yahoo.com), first when "sending/receiving" mail, or "synchronizing" its local folders with the mail server's outbox and inbox]: "The server you are connected to is using a security certificate that could not be verified. The certificate's CN name does not match the passed value. Do you want to continue using this server?" However, the other email client that I use with the SAME Yahoo smtp server on the same email account from the same computer does not ever generate this error. However, there doesn't appear to be a Yahoo or Outlook certificate stored in the lists of certificates (Tools > Internet Options > Content > Certificates). Also, clearing the "SSL state" unfortunately does not solve the problem. However, the Yahoo address book Autosync 1.0 utility that synchronizes the calendar and address book data between Outlook folders and Yahoo works correctly, with no error messages. The system date, time, and time zone (GMT -6, Central) are all correct. more

Voting Question: Fully Qualified Domain Name, Windows Server 2008, Active Directory Help!?

I purchased a server to run Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0. I'm trying to get it install but I know next to nothing about servers. I was able to get Windows Server 2008 installed and I am stuck with this Active Domain portion. It's asking for a Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) during the setup. Can I just pick anything out of the air for instance TBFWD.crm.com or does it actually have to be a registered domain name like I would purchase through a domain company? I'm thinking if this needed to be a purchased domain I could just do a subdomain like crm.TBFWD.com and use that but Im just not sure. Any help would be great.... I'm just not sure how to proceed... Thanks! So if I do own TBFWD.com... I could create a subdomain like crm.TBFWD.com and that would work? Thank you for your assistance.... much needed! more

Resolved Question: What is www#?

Haven't you connected to www.google.com atleast once? Oh! that's a part of being in the internet these days. Now see these! www1.google.com www2.google.com www3.google.com and so on. Being Networking buffu's I would expect you try "ping " or "tracert" on the above and see the IP's change. These are probably Server's we connect lying on different Clusters or Different sites. But i was not able to type the address as given above and connect using IE7. Strange isn't it we have IP's when ping ed, but cannot connect. One explanantion i got is In a FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name), you have a hostname (www), domain name (dslreports), and top-level domain (com). By virtue of the fact that pretty much everyone does I guess, "www" is the most common hostname for a website, but it could really be anything. more
