I am residing in Australia and am looking to start up my own business. I have registered the business name and also brought a web domain for the webpage once I get it up and running. I am having 2nd thoughts though at the moment. I am only 20 yrs old working full time earning a good wage and liking the job I'm in. The idea I have is a really good idea and I have the backing of my mum who has said she will help out with some finances. But i'm just not sure if I want to leave my job and take on this idea. I would like to buy a house in the next year or 2 but might not be possible if I'm still getting my business up and running. There is a lot of room for profit and not to many expenses in my idea. I pretty much have to go on 1 more course and I'm ready to start. I would have no problem funding the idea as I have saved a bit of money to do so. What should I do? more

What I am wanting my business to be about will be bookkeeping and office duties from home. The idea of a bit of humour and personality in it would be an advantage, something that is catchy and memorable. I have had a look around this site and some of the ideas you all seem to come up with are brilliant and creative!! My other question is how do I check if this name is available for business registration in South Australia? I know how to check the AusRegistry for domain name but the name needs to be able to be registered. One last question, because I don't have a lot of money to start up with I am wanting to also come up with a logo for business cards etc. does anyone know where I can go to get one designed for a pretty good price? Hello, I am new to Australia, and thinking of starting a website for my hobby. But I have just heard that to get com.au domain name you need to be a registered business! Is this still true? or has rules been relaxed at all? Im not sure what is involved in registering a australian business, and dont want to be bogged down in paperwork and tax yet. As its a hobby and not even sure if it can actually make any money. Anyone know current com.au rules? Any other advice? Should I just stick to .com domain for now? J more

Resolved Question: How can I remove my personal information from WHOIS if someone stole my credit card number to reg. a domain?

I noticed some shady charges on my credit card, and after much searching, found that someone used my CC number along with my real name and address to register a domain. The domain is being used to send out spam and maybe run some kind of overseas pharmacy scam. The card has been cancelled and I have contacted the registrar in Australia to see if they can help me. Should I be doing anything else to get my name and address removed? I don't want people to think that I am a scam artist. Now I'm so worried, I keep checking the WHOIS. When will it go away? I've found a great name for my new business, and it's not registered by anyone else in the U.S. or my state. The ".com" domain name is already taken though, by someone in Australia. There's actually no website up at the address, but the domain is taken. I googled the name. Nothing. I searched Australia's trademark database, and the name isn't registered.
