I have a domain name which expired around a week ago. The company i had transferred it to want me to renew it (it is appearing as a renewal on their site) with them but the fees are too much. I tried to repurchase it at another website but its marked as "taken" and won't allow me to reregister. I have carried out a WHOIS check and no-one else has taken it, the domain is still appearing as registered to me but expired a week ago. I want to pursue an acting career, but I share a name with an apparently famous lesbian porn star. I'd want to be considered a serious dramatic actress in film, so would having a porn star with the same name as me be an issue? She has already registered the name in everything - Youtube, Twitter, Facebook, and every possible domain name. I'm pretty sure she wouldn't be SAG or Equity though... There are also 337 people with my name in the US. But it seems like a whole lot more in other countries when I look up my name on Facebook or MySpace. What do you think? started a photography business earlier this year, applied with the Secretary of State and formed an LLC. The name of the business is: Graham Photography Service, LLC. Today I got a call from a gentleman saying his business, about 30 miles away, is called Graham Photo / Video. He said I was taking his business with my name (Im guessing this since I did my own website and search engine optimization to get good google ranking when searching. My website looks professional while he only has a web domain registered and it takes you to a GoDaddy "this domain is being held by :GoDaddy" type page. He is not listed under the secretary of state so I assume he is a sole proprietor. Although he told me he was listed there. A thorough search turned up nothing. Only after I searched his exact name did a wedding photography link-trading site bring him up. Im an architectural and aerial photographer and he is a wedding photographer. Does he have a leg to stand on by saying our names are in conflict? Does he have a winning chance in a courtroom? For years I have been trying to get my family name domain from a scum-bag company that has one of those idiot parking sites sitting there. They refuse to give the name up and I've offered to purchase it but I always receive the response that it's not for sale because it is a "premium 5-letter domain name". There is no reason anyone would want it for anything unless you're one of my family members (which as far as I know is strictly American because of name changes after immigrating), which I am and wish to use it for the family (reunion photos, information, history, lineage, networking, email, etc...) My first question is one that I probably know the answer to already: does our family have any rights to owning this domain, kind of how companies have sued in the past to obtain the rights to domain names which they had registered. Is there any precedence for this, how would it be determined which family member had the rights? The company is not, and in the 7 or more years that I've been contacting them has never, legitimately used the site for anything than a placeholder. Second question, so that I can come up with an idea of pricing, how much would be a reasonable offer for a 5-letter domain name which is a pretty obscure family name but means nothing outside of that context? They never have sent me one. I've tried different e-mail and nothing. What exactly am I doing wrong? My website is nothing "graphic" . Its layouts and banners. Many of my friend's use it . I've configured X-Lite to use use my account with the following settings Username: <usename>-<extension> Password: <password> Authorization username: <username> Domain: pbxes.org / pbxes.com (I've tried both) Register is checked Outbound via domain is checked It registers on X-Lite, but I cant make calls!! Help!!!I uses SIPgate as my outgoing SIP provider. more
