I currently own a free webs.com account (sharky7854.webs.com) And I was wondering, If I move to a different site and buy a FULL domain name would I be able to keep things like registered members somehow through a transfer? moreResolved Question: Transfering domain, but autherization code was sent to a proxy address. What does this mean?
Okay so, I'm transferring my domain from dreamhost to hostmonster. The transition, seems to have gone smoothly but there's an ominous message on the page: An email has been sent to the email address mydomainname.net@proxy.dreamhost.com which is listed as the Admin Contact for the domain domainname.net. This email will contain a Verification Code that will help ensure that you are the owner of the domain name. The transfer cannot proceed without this code (this is a formal requirement from ICANN). This is separate from the EPP authorization code. Once you have obtained the code, please type it in the field above, and click "Continue". I have no idea where that address is. I was subdomain hosted by a friend, and my girlfriend bought me the domain as a gift. Now I'm on my own plan and I need to transfer it. It actually seems to have transferred, it is no longer on my dreamhost account and is listed under my host monster account... the site is working, but I'm not sure which version is up. I suppose I had better get that code somehow... but I don't know how to access that address. Any help?Yes, I have my site uploaded on my new server, backed up on two computers and on a disk. The data and databases are all safe. moreVoting Question: My website host won't read my godaddy.com domain?

Yet when i try to go to my website i only get a white page that says: Proxy Error The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server. The proxy server could not handle the request GET /. Reason: DNS lookup failure for: (website) HELP! moreVoting Question: How long does it take to fully change name servers to Yahoo without transferring your domain to them?
Is it at all possible? Yahoo is pushing for transferring a domain to Yahoo but reviews for their domain support are horrid, so we'll do everything possible not to change a registrar. It's been 90 hours since name servers were changed to Yahoo and our Yahoo store has been dead ever since. Any suggestions on how to get it up and running again? Yahoo customer service people seem clueless on what to do except to continue waiting on engineering team to remove the domain block. I spoke to at least five reps tonight and they all blame GoDaddy (our original registrar). But GoDaddy has confirmed at least three times the name servers were changed correctly and there are no blocks of any kind on their end. I've read some other people had similar domain issues dragging on for weeks with Yahoo and had to either find another hosting for their stores or roll back to their original registrar asap. Thanks Elevate! It looks as waiting wouldn't help in this particular case. Apparently, I did something in GoDaddy controls that cleared the block on June 19. Yahoo said that name server changes were dated by GoDaddy on June 19. But I made and confirmed the changes with GoDaddy on June 15! What I did on June 19 was deleting an email box associated with this domain and unlocking the domain on GoDaddy's page. My guess is that UNLOCKING domain did the trick. Although there might be something else that either Yahoo or GoDaddy don't want me to know. Anyways, neither of them will tell you to unlock your domain before changing name servers and you could be sitting there with your broken site for weeks or even months! Needless to say that for four days of full inactivity our store lost most of traffic and 99% of normal sales. The worst part is that we are completely gone from Google and majority of search engines :(( moreResolved Question: Yahoo web hosting transfer?
I have two yahoo ID acounts. I would like to transfer my domain name and web hosting from one ID to the other. Is there an easy way to do that? moreResolved Question: What's the best way to sell a domain name?
I own a domain name that is probably worth a lot to someone who dislikes the president. (I personally do not necessarily dislike the president). What's the best way to advertise the fact its for sale? And also how do I transfer the domain name, which I purchased through Hostway or GoDaddy, once I sell the domain name? All it is, is a name. There's no website or inventory, outside of the freebie website that the domain company includes with it. moreResolved Question: How to transfer domain name ownership to someone else?
I purchased this domain name last year to use in a project, and I don't need it anymore, and someone offered to buy it from me. Now, What is the right way to transfer this domains ownership to him so my my personal information and my billing information wouldn't be associated with the domain?? moreResolved Question: I change my website host but my site is still linking to my old host.?
Alright, so I changed my website host from 000webhost.com to atspace.com My websites name is http://marblefinders.com <-- that links me back t 000webhost http://www.marblefinders.com shows what the site used to look like (I was experimenting with flash buttons) but when I edit it in athost nothing changes. Yes, I did transfer the nameservers from the 000webhost ones to the atspace ones via godaddy.com (where I registered my domain) and I just can't figure out what's going on. If anyone can help me out here I'd appreciate it, I have no rootfolder on my computer I put them directly on my hosting sites. Domain Name Questions : What is the cheapest domain name transfer site? And where is a free site where I can sell domain names? I know about ebay and they charge to sell names. Is there a free place to sell domain names besides craigslist? And I want to find the very cheapest transfer price for domain names to transfer from one registrar to the next. moreVoting Question: What options do I have to get my current host to give up website?
Help people To fill you in on the story. My friend owns a website domain name. It was orginally purchased from Lycos, but then he transfered host to a friend that promised to make him a decent professional site. He did start work on it, but hasn't touch it for nearly 18 months now and refuses to do anymore work on it. I've offered to take over the maintaince as I have some basic web experience. BUT We need to current host to either give up the IPSTAG or Auth code to transfer the hosting, which he is refusing to do. He is not owed money, he is just being an idiot stalling for no particular reason. So my questions is: what options do I have to take control of the domaine name, because short of calling the police, or spending money on solicitors I'm now at a loss what to do. Thanks in advance for your help. moreResolved Question: Need a domain host that has pop3 email capabilities.?
We have a small business. We are using the POP3 accounts that are inexpensive and through our domain name company, but the accounts have a maximum file size transfer limit of 2MB. We need 10-12MB file transfer ability. I figure we need to switch the company our domain name is regsitered with in order to keep the @companyname.org in our email address, but I've no idea which company would be the best to have the domain name AND a POP3 account that meets our needs. Any suggestions? We're a small business with a limited budget. moreResolved Question: Free forum hosting sites?

I want my domain name transferred. I got it from Yahoo, but they say that you cannot transfer it before 60 days of the register date. Bottom line will anything bad happen to me if I do transfer it? moreResolved Question: REALLY Need HELP!!!!! My website says it can't find the server???!?

Disk Space: At least 50 GB Data Transfer: Unlimited Custom Name servers: Must Have Dedicated IP Address: Mabe Addon Domains: Doesnt matter to much FTP Accounts: At least 2 moreResolved Question: Web Design Pricing Question?
I need to know (approximately) what I'll be looking to pay for what I need. I've recently purchased a domain name and hosting from 1&1. I used their website builder to design a fairly attractive and professional looking site. Unfortunately, there is only so much you can do with their tools. What I need: I need visitors to be able to sign up and become members of my site. Upon becoming a member, they will be asked if they want to provide a 'referrer'. If a member gets credit for a referral they will receive a portion of the sign up fee in their respective account. Users will need a 'My Account' tab where they can keep track of the amount of money they've earned by referring people. I would like users to be able to transfer the money they've earned directly into the account they signed up with and/or have saved in the system. About how much am I going to have to spend to get this up and running how I want? moreResolved Question: My domain name and content was stolen, please help!?
My friend and I own and run a website for a product that we are selling. When we first started out, another friend of ours was working with us, but we had a falling out. My friend and I got the website and the product, and the other friend left. Yesterday we found out that she has transferred our domain name to another registrar and has changed the nameservers. She has also stolen our content and our custom design. She is planning on taking our product, manufacturing it, and selling it by using our website content and domain. Fortunately, our financial backers and manufacturer are on our side, so the product stealing isn't really an issue right now, but the domain name and site content is a big problem for us (especially since all our product labels have that url on them!). Plus, we spent $200 getting that domain SSL certified and we can't really afford to do it again. The biggest hurdle is that the domain was actually registered in her name even though I paid for it. I'm not sure if that totally negates our claim, but I'm still holding onto a tiny shred of hope that we can get it back without resorting to hacking. ;) Any help would be appreciated! moreVoting Question: Which is the cheapest website hosting company / website in India?

***Note*** I posted this in another category too, so I hope I don't get in trouble but I really need the opinions of people that read and answer in this category too. ***End Note*** OK... I design websites. I do not sell templates. As a matter of fact it is all over my website that I do not do templates, ever. But a little over a year ago a new client came along and said he was looking for a template. He said he wanted a website built that looked cool and that he would update it. I never told him I would give him a template, as a matter of fact I told him that he seemed like a busy guy and that I would be there to do the updating of his site for him. So what I offered him (verbatim) is: ********* $365 Includes: 5-7 page site designed and implemented Hosting if needed Up to 100 Email Addresses (if hosting with me) Flash Design (2 max) Logo Design and / or Manipulation Contact form on site (PHP) Free Updates for the existing content of the site (once site is designed and implemented) 1 Year - 24/7 Support (just email or call me anytime for any reason) Submission of your URL to over 200 Search Engines quarterly After one year, if you like to continue my services I just invoice you an additional $365 on the 1 year anniversary date. ********** Now... The anniversary date has passed. I sent 3 invoices to the email address of the guy that started this agreement. I sent a 30 day notice, a 7 day notice and a 1 day notice. There was no reply to any of them. I waited 10 days after the account was due to be renewed because that is what I say I will do in my Terms Of Service. And on this 10th day I filed a DMCA (copyright infringement) with the company that is hosting his site. I did this because, again, I do not do templates. And in my TOS it says: ********** All web site designs developed by and implemented by <my real name here> will remain the Intellectual Property of <my real name here> and domain names purchased by <my real name here> will not be transferred to the Customer if at any time either <my real name here> or the Customer cancel the Customers account, or the Customer violates any credit terms or other terms associated with this agreement and or their account. ********** and ********** Any artwork, images, or text supplied by and / or designed by <my real name here> on behalf of the customer and / or for use on the clients website, will remain the property of <my real name here>. ********** Among other things. I do not sell templates, I sell a service. If someone thinks they bought my designs, I'm sorry, but they didn't, and I have gone out of my way to make this clear. Anyway, today I get a call from someone else that works at the place I did the site for, actually the owner. He tells me that the person I was working with is no longer with his company, and the whole time he thought what they purchased was a template. I explained to him what I just explained here and I told him that I would sell him the design outright and royalty free for $99. He talked me down to $75. Which is cool. I just don't like my work out there, and people hacking it up and making it look bad which makes me look bad, which is one reason why I hold the rights to my work. The other reason is, since I don't do templates and every site is designed from scratch there is much more work involved, and if someone is done with their site, moves on to another company or whatever, then I am free to take that design with me and sell it to someone else who may have similar needs. I have been doing webs now for over 10 years, and this is honestly the very first time I have been in this situation. I kinda feel like a jerk, and although I had no intention of misleading anyone it appears that there was some confusion. But all in all I think the offer of buying my design for only $75 is a sweet offer to resolve the situation. Am I being a jerk? And if I am, do you think it's justified? Let me know, I really want as many opinions as possible. I have been contacted by a creditor -- which is odd because it is a debt that was transferred out of my name after my divorce. But... they had all my info -- name, SS, address (an old one though) and former place of business. I asked them to send me e-mail out lining the debt. I received an e-mail and after an hours worth of checking I have found out that: No company by that name exists in the city listed in the e-mail. The domain name on the e-mail address does not go to any website The address listed for them is, in fact, a restaurant My gut reaction would be to tell them to screw off but if by some slim chance this is legitimate, I need to know that (to deal with my ex wife on the matter). What is a hard and fast way I can verify if they are a legitimate company or someone who has gotten ahold of my credit information is just trying to scam money out of me. Interesting note: when I got on the phone with them, I was not arguing at all, or disputing anything... and they just kept dropping the number -- from 2,300 to 1,500 to 900 to 600... and honest to go, I was saying nothing to prompt them to do this. Hi there! On friday (17th April) I got fed up with Mr Site with whom I still had another 111 days before renewal time left, and decided to transfer my domain name to 123Reg.co.uk I did this and decided that I would also like 123Reg.co.uk to host the site. Grand....so I signed up for that too. I am designing my website on iweb09 and publishing it via FTP to the hosting site (it has checked the connection and my files are all uploading fine) but when I go to check my site it says page cannot be displayed, or if I actually type in the address it takes me to my old Mr Site version (Which is looking cr*p). The site address is www.moojidesign.co.uk I have also gone onto my control panel at 123 Reg and pointed the domain at the host. Is this all I need to do and I just need to be more patient? Or have I messed up big style!!?? If someone clever out there could let me know that'd be grand! I am working on a Mac using Cyberduck as my FTP. I am pretty clueless if you couldn't tell, so any help in language I can understand would be welcomed! Thank you all so much in advance. J xxHi there! Thank you so much for all your help! ;-) I think the IP address is still wrong, but I don't know how to change it?? Is that something that 123 Reg should be doing? moreResolved Question: Google Adsense for Domains - HELP?
I have two domain names that I'd like to register with Google Adsense for Domains. Unfortunately, I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to the 'A records' and CNAME records that I need to change and create. What are these?? My domains are currently registered with Bravenet.com, and this is not one of the commonly used registrars that Google gives step-by-step instructions for. I tried transferring the domains to GoDaddy (since it is one that Google has listed) hoping that would make the Google set up easier...but since my domains are too new, the transfer failed. Since I have to leave my domains parked where they are, I need some one to help me with the Google set up. Google's instructions leave me completely confused..I'm kind of new to the whole domain/site building thing. This is what Google Adsense is asking me to do: Step 1) Create the following A records for your domains at your domain registrar: [What is an 'A record' and how do I create one, when dealing with Bravenet.com?] Step 2) Create the following CNAME (alias) records for your www host using your domain registrar: [Again, I have no idea what this is..or how to do what they're asking..] What are these records? How do I create them...what do I do with them once they ARE created...???? I've tried looking online for some sort of 'Google Adsense for Dummies' but haven't really been able to find anything that helps. I'm sure these are really simple and easy things Google is asking me to do..I just don't understand their instructions.I've found where to edit the records, as google instructs, but now I'm encountering a new problem. The Host name/Alias that google wants me to use is '@'. But when I try to input that into the record, I'm told that it's invalid. Is it not possible to use Google Adsense for Domains, when using a domain parked with Bravenet..? Or am I doing something wrong..???? moreResolved Question: Why do you have to put in www to get to my website?

Can I transfer ownership of a domain that I own in the U.S.A to someone in Russia? More specifically, can the person in Russia simply sign up for a GoDaddy account (or whatever), transfer the domain name from me (with permission), and point it to a specific IP address of a server in Russia? I'm assuming the answer is yes, but the cross country bit makes me wonder if there might be a catch. moreResolved Question: If you buy a domain and transfer it, do you pay twice?

sigh...ok What I want: To be able to type www.gbmassage.net or gbmassage.net and be directed to http://gbmassage.net with my index.html(or whatever i name it) show up as home page. What I've done: 1. i've bought the domain gbmassage.net through cheapdomain.com a. e-mail is correctly setup and forwards to correct address 2. I've bought webspace through a webserver "Precision Effect". 3. I've uploaded my collective website(in pages) named Index-whatever. My dns is still through cheapdomain.com, should i transfer it? I'm at a loss of what to do now, obviously if i go to gbmassage.net nothing comes up. The only thing i came up with is url redirect to the url it goes to when i view my index.html page in the webserver control panel. But that obviously doesn't work because i get this huge url address and than anyone not logged in gets asked for a password. i'm confused...I can use firefox "fireftp" to access my ftp with both a free webserver and precision effect, but when i choose "view on the web" it gives me a 404.
