Voting Question: What DNS Records do I need to make for email to work at 111webhost.co.uk?

I recently signed up for web and IMAP e-mail hosting at www.111webhost.co.uk but my domain name is hosted with a separate company so I know I have to change the DNS records for my e-mail to work. I can edit the MX, CNAME, A etc. records easily enough but I have no Idea what they have to be. I've tried several different combination's of MX and A records but having to wait for the DNS to update every time I change it is too laborious / time consuming and I need my e-mail running ASAP. Also, being in a different time zone to the support team mean It takes ages to get a reply from them. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated! Also, I managed to get it to so I can synchronize and update the folders off the e-mail server into outlook but I am still unable to receive e-mail. more

I'm trying to start a personal .com website but am getting a bit swamped by the amount of options and unclear information on this subject. Most review sites seem to be either biased or not current enough. I am currently based in the UK and will likely be paying for the hosting in pounds, but I will be moving to America for the next few years, to return every couple of months or so, and am a little unsure as well of where I should choose to have the server based. This will likely be a small operation with little traffic, and I'm only really interested in having enough space to upload a small picture gallery. Im not sure yet how big the site is going to be and if i should run it as a business or a personal site, im not sure what band with and space im going to need either! I eventually want to have a site with honest reviews and for it to be open for selected members to add reviews also. Can anyone help me.. I've created a link inside my web page which is to trigger a PDF file. This works (sort of) with FF and IE, but it doesn't actually prompt the adobe reader to open and will only render the PDF file inside the browser window. I've tried this with Safari, Opera, Chrome and Seamonkey, and dosen't work at all! I know that pretty much most PC's and Mac's have even basic adobe readers pre-installed on to them, so this shouldn't be an issue anyway and I have uploaded the PDF file to my web host and correctly linked it to a button in my site, so would there be some sort of HTML code which will fire a browers PC to open adobe reader? Would someone have a look at my site? Hello, I am looking for a web hosting provider to host my web site, and also to provide me with a domain name. My web site will only have about 3 or 4 page and will only be about 1MB in total, therefore I only really need a basic package. It will have no programming or server code, it will only have basic html and css. I have look at various web sites, and found that 1and1 is very cheap but I have read very bad reviews about it. It is only £1.99 a month for the basic package, which doesn't go up after a certain amount of years which is good, and a .co.uk domain name is £2.49 a year for 1st year and £2.99 a year after that. I have also had a look at uk-cheapest which has about the same sort of package but costs slightly less at £1.59 a month and a .co.uk domain name is £2.79 a year. They seem to have slightly better reviews but again, not great. I would really appreciate any input and your thoughts and expereinces on these companies or any other companies you would recommend. If I go on www.goplay-games.co.uk it says 404 not found, but if I go on www.goplay-games.co.uk/index.html it rightly redirects to index.php. Any ideas? - The change of the DNS was about 24 hours ago and it does say that for the DNS servers to change, it takes between 24 to 48 - but I assumed because the website was working, that the website has successfully changed over. more

Hi, Im an English teacher and interest in making and distributing materials based on classic childrens fiction. A vast array of information on the net has left me a little confused. Wikipedias understanding of UK copright law is Copyright is retained for 70 years past death. As I understand it, this means, for example, that the text for Wind in the Willows (Kenneth Grahame 1859 - 1932) became public domain Jan 1st 2002. The famous accompanying illustrations, however, (Ernest Howard Shepard1879 – 1976) will not be public domain until 2046. Therefore, it would be acceptable to distripute the text either with new illustrations or with no illustrations. However, when I looked in to the works of Beatrix Potter (28 July 1866 – 22 December 1943) who wrote and illustrated her own work, there is confusion. http://public-domain.zorger.com/squirrel-nutkin/ states that some images are in the public domain. Project Gutenberg also lists the texts as public domain http://www.gutenberg.org/browse/authors/p#a292 . This may be because of the US Copyright Act of 1909 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright_Act_of_1909) That meant that Potters work could be copyrighted for a total of 56 years (2 periods of 28). Therefore anywork she completed in her entire lifetime had copyright expire in 1999 at the latest. Where does this leave me. If i were to use material from the original Potter books and host them for distribution on a US web server would this be okay? Even if i continue to live in the UK? If i were to the product available for download from my US server, without asking the location of the downloading party, would i break the law if it was downloaded to the UK?
