Had cockroaches in my kitchen last year. I trashed the place looking for bug holes, turfed out all the food in the dry stores, used swatters, powders and sprays etc.: I just couldn't get rid of them. Eventually, I went on line and bought some special sticky cockroach traps and Bingo! They seem to have completely disappeared. However, there-in lies my worry, since I haven't caught any of the little blighters in any of the traps. So, where have they gone? We have been bug free now for over six weeks. And no, it's not a 'dirty' house. In fact I'm a bit of a clean freak. I was very upset when I saw the first one and devastated when I couldn't get rid of them, as I was catching nymphs and adults - meaning that they had managed to bread as well. Using the samples I had caught, I was able to go on-line to identify them specifically as German Cockroaches and to contact a bug specialist to get the traps and the attractant tablets I needed. One of the web sites suggested they may have come from contaminated goods bought at one of the European supermarkets - no names. Another site said that this type of cockroach is now able to live outside in the uk (due to global warming?), and therefore, they could have just flown in through an open window while looking for a suitable place to lay their eggs - complete with a new source of food and heat etc. I can't believe that I have killed evey last one of them before the traps went down; and, I can't find any web sites with any information about them hibernating or anything. Maybe, like fairies, they've just flown away again, Or, perhaps, you know different? All information relating to where they may have come from, their life cycle etc. greatly appreciated. Two days ago I've changed my web hosting company. I also bought a new domain name to use with my new web hosting. I've changed the DNS settings on the domain etc. But when I try to open my new domain name I get this error: DNS error - cannot find server My domain company said its to do with my hosting company and they couldn't help me. My hosting company said there wasn't any problem with my DNS settings and everything was working fine and they told me to check my internet connection and turn my modem off and on again. I have a domain name registered with Google (gdomains through godaddy). I really love having everything handled through Google. I love the email, I'm used to the platform for my DNS settings, I like their file hosting, I have advertising credit, the registration price is perfect and includes 50 usernames and 90 CNAMES. The only thing is I really really don't like the Google Sites hosting platform. I know this isn't ideal but I'm really not ready to do a full transfer to a new host. Basically I just want something that will allow me to redirect my already registered domain name to a basic webpage that I can create through the host site. I have my own layout coded and everything and had my site up on Blogger, which was pretty close to how I want it in terms of features but it wasn't giving me the freedom I wanted to add extra pages and things like that. To water it down my site is basically a "blog" but I need 5 separately archived pages so you can see how that would be a problem with something like Blogger. Especially with my CNAMES because blog sites don't allow naked URLs. I use Webs for free hosting on smaller projects but I'm not sure if I trust them with my domain, plus I can't afford a premium package right now. I don't need the extra storage space or any of the other perks of a package deal right away, I know if I start getting traffic I will need to upgrade but I already have more than enough assets through Google to get started. If anyone has any suggestions or tips or even just hosting sites they would recommend that would be really helpful.@ledfrog.com- Yeah, that's pretty much exactly what I want to do, I just need to find a host that lets me do that. hello! there's something strange happen on my computer. My computer is a netbook, it cannot display the Chinese characters correctly since i bought it. Even yesterday(2.12.2010) , it cannot display the Chinese characters ( I watch some Chinese shows, and the Chinese show name ,Chinese video tags are all displayed like unreadable words). Today, I watch other Chinese shows on youtube.com as usual, I found that the Chinese characters(the descriptions of the video, or tags) are displayed correctly.It surprised me.I browsed several Chinese web sites, it was good, I can read the Chinese characters, it never happen before.I didn't install any software on my computer in 24 hours. But I installed XAMPP to learn PHP on 2.8.2010. Is it related to the problems? Is the change of my computer a signal of virus infection? Just wondering how may other people have fell for the scam? And have lost money!? Just lately there have been a lot of private sellers and several business sellers advertising a so called slimming product I thought I should warn you what I have found out from personal research about this so called "amazing" product. A lot of private sellers are selling this because they have been stung by a website on the interenet ,I know this for a fact because I was also silly enough to buy into it.Being desperate to loose weight after having my son and having tried almost every method you can name I stumbeled accross an advert on the internet for a free trial of this amazing product cho yung tea ,it looked ligit sounded great so I signed up agreeing to pay only £1.99 in postage to get a months "FREE" trial, in due course my tea came and I started it eagerley . Now firstly you need to know this is NOT a free trial as I later found out way too late, just over a month after I had my tea. The people at cho yung tea then took my bank details and used them to do there flamin' shopping in Israel via my debit card money, I did not authorise them to take any money apart from the P+P for my "FREE TRIAL" to be sent to me. I was lucky enough for my bank to notice it so they contacted me straight away and gave me my money back and got there Fraud Squad on to it. On doing further research I discovered a whole heap of people on the web who too had been conned by these people some loosing as much AS £48 - £72.50 "a packet of tea" .There is a link on Martins money saving tips website about this (the guy off the tv who exposes people like this). Now I don't begrudge these people who have,like me,been ripped off ,selling this tea to try and get their money back but what I do object to and wanted to warn others about is what Ive since discovered about the tea. It contains powerful laxatives which give you dirrohea and mess with your stomach and bowels ,yes you will loose weight at first but this is due to it literally dehydrating your body of neccessary water!!I Have this on the advise of my GP. It claims to reduce bloating but after a month of being on it you WILL bloat ,you very well may,like me,get incredible stomach pain, you may feel sick and tierd all the time, your breath may begin to smell foul and your tounge may grow a coating as the stomach lining is actually broken down by this foul stuff. All of this happened to me when I drank the stuff ,it also has stuff in it to get you addicted to drinking it. None of these things are mentioned on the packet or on the website or in sellers listings . I lost quite a bit of weight but then it stopped and I started getting ill, blood in the motions, incredible pain in the abdomen etc etc .People, it simply isn't worth it .please please please if you are thinking of getting this stuff ask your Gp about the stuff in its ingredients and be careful. Trading standards are looking into loads of complaints about people not only being ripped off moneywise by this thieving company but also people being ill because of the stuff in this tea something I've not seen any seller yet admit to. Please people DONT BUY THIS STUFF. Alright, so I've already set up FileZilla, and I got connected, once I learned how. My url is purplest.info Then I uploaded my home.html into my godaddy hosting service provider (hostingmanager.secureserver.net) and I placed the file in the folder ( that was already there) labled "html" and my home page showed. I went to "manage domain" and opened up about 10 or less domains. I am opening up a mousery site, so for example, I am trying to put up the "mousery" page and so it was labeled "mousery.purplest.info" and then a folder named "mousery" automatically showed up in my "File Managing" page under the "html" folder. I then uploaded successfully, "mousery.html" and then moved it into the "mousery" folder. To test out the link, I typed in mousery.purplest.info. It came up with a message from godaddy, 404 message, pretty much (you can go see yourself, just go to my page and try any link besides home). Why aren't my subdomains working? I just bought the domain like, 6 hours ago. I just started editing my site afterwards and just barely began uploading them. I'm very new to all of this, I'm very used to webs.com formerly known as freewebs.comHm, first @ Joe: I WROTE all of this. I TAUGHT MYSELF at age 11, that was about _8.5_ years ago. I stopped doing websites at age 12 , then I waited up until LAST NIGHT to write again. Now, can you sit there for almost a DECADE and then come back on and remember how to write every damn thing? Voting Question: How can I, and is it too late for me to remove Internet Security 2010?

For the past couple of weeks, my fathers computer has been acting funny. I had malwarebytes already installed to it and working until I noticed the differences on the computer (audio playing without any background processes responsible, and webpages acting peculiar). Today I installed ESET Smart security with an older update (after telling him i would add a different program). Also, remembering I had ended some startup processes, I opened up msconfig and checked the ones to start up that I unchecked a month or two ago and restarted the computer. This is where things went from bad to worse. If i can recall correctly, the computer was frozen during the restart. This is strange, but has been normal for awhile due to the occurrences already stated. So I hard-booted after awhile, and it got stuck at the startup. So i hardbooted again, and there was a popup describing how the computer was infected with a "stage 5" virus out of "0-5". It said a full system scan was required, and i clicked continue. Normally, i wouldnt do that stuff If it had been an actual pop-up from a web page or program. But this showed before the start bar or icons appeared, so i figured it was something I should click.. Well fuck my life. Anyhow, the system rebooted, I saw the blue windows screen, and here came internet security 2010 (popup came up again, and i just closed).. I scanned with ESET and got nowhere. Then I updated ESET to the 4800 update. Scanned, and found some threats, then the scan stopped. Repeat that process a couple more times. I knew it was a fake already, since I had gotten a virus similar however not as severe. I noticed his wallpaper changed to something saying "SYSTEM HAS BEEN INFECTED!", and more popups urging us to buy the software. I checked the internet for any solutions, and the softsailor.com tutorial seemed to help a lot of people. It and many other sites had malwarebytes on it as a removal tool for this situation. That lead us to believe it was legit. I tried malwarebytes, and ESET multiple times with the same results. No install, and an unfinished scan. Just now, i read through their tutorial thoroughly, instead of figuring MBAM will save the day itself. I noticed rkill needed to be used, so i used it. Well fuck my life... rkill wasnt able to work. a popup said it was infected. And soon after more tries at the steps of removal, I heard audio coming from the computer. It wasnt normal audio. It was a russian guy saying "Hello, my name is Nikolai.." he continued to ramble about how he will steal money safely in his "left pocket". I heard someone else say something in the background agreeing with him. This worried me more. So please, what should I do now. I have run out of solutions. Turn of the computer? I cant system restore, it has been blocked too. I cant open the registry or task manager still. Help!I will try the www.bleepingcomputer.com, hopefully it works (it has more information on what to do if MBAM doesnt work, but not rkill...) My mom is currently trying spybot search and destroy. I am almost sure it wont work.The computer WONT launch in safemode*UPDATE* My mom was looking around the web and tried some other programs. I didn't recommend this, but I wasnt going to object. One computer messing up was enough for me, wanted to let her do her thing. Now the computer wont turn on....rkill.exe doesnt work. I close the window saying it is infected, and let it run until it closes. Then i run MBAM, and still nothing appears. I cant end processes or enter regedit from run more

why are so many of the people that work for or in the IT or computer information field so diffrent? and by different i mean so distrusting ok here is the reason i ask all this month our company has been doing this computer usage and computer do's and don't some i understand you know looking at porn gambling stuff like that, but the stuff about using band with and IM-ing or streaming or music ya it takes up space but on the other hand I work in in the department that controls the spending on such things and i'm telling you that IT people are nothing short of bullshit and lazyass sit in the dark and read sifi comic books and day dreaming geeks and if not the worst abusers of the stuff they tell us we can not do or use, in a recent audit of unused resources in my company under the IT group alone was in the hundreds of thousands of dollars in under utilized equipment and storage on servers back up drives and routers you name that IT needed so bad that if the company did not agree to buy and invest in upgrags as a company we would not have a strong operation to enter into the current consumer trend blah blah bullshit, but it was discovered that one of the IT guys, and one of the biggest complainers about abuse of storage and people streaming sports and music had four years of porn and adult content on a PC yet he was one of the major people in getting others busted for IM-ing of chatting or going to dating sites as far as getting a guy with three kids fired for having a web cam set up to monitor his kids after school behavior so my question is are all company IT people this messed up and this out of control why do these people get so much power after all most have no clue what the working staff in the Business they support do daily .. and when will these companys get management smart enought to know that IT people are full of crap most of the time.. not always we do need them but we do not need them as some covert KGB mentality after all IT people are also the same people that hack and send out the stuff that they all scream about being so bad,, bill gates once said" IT geeks be very afraid of them" more

Hi I am about to subcribe to 123-reg buying a domain name and a internet hosting service. My question may seem rather basic but I'm afaid I need clarification if possible. I intend to use my website for selling products such as e-books, CD's etc. What I am unsure about is whether I can have several/many different websites within the one package supplied by the host server? In other words I anticipate selling a variety of products but the website supporting each one would need to be different ie promoting each individual product. As I understand it, in order to create a website you must first register a domain name and buy a web space. Having a registered domain name allows you to have a simple url you choose, like www.example.com, instead of something like www.geocities.com/example. The web space is where you store your html, css, etc files. If this isn't a correct understanding please correct me. So my first questions: If you register your own domain name, but want to use free web hosting, can you make your url direct the user to the files saved on the free webhosting? In this case, after accessing the website will your registerred domain name still be in the address bar, or will the webhosting address be visible? Second: Can you recommend any good web hosting sites that don't have banner ads? Third: If you answered positively to the last 3 questions, is there any concievable reason why someone like me, creating a small low traffic site, would regret paying to register a domain name and not paying for commercial web space? I have this little flashlight, the head is separated from the body by what looks like conduit or a long spring. It's very easy to bend and stays the way you bend it. I have a lamp with the same thing between the post and the lights so you can aim them. I've also seen it used for microphones. I've been searching for a small diameter version of this stuff, like on the flashlight. It's confusing because I just get conduit in my searches. 1. Does this stuff have a specific name? 2. I am doing a research project and need to create a web site that features hundreds of photos. Each photo has a lengthy caption. The site visitor needs to be able to do a keyword search and call up all the photos whose captions match the keywords in their search. Some of the photo captions need to have hot links to other pages. In essence, the site is a home page, a searchable photo database with text that describes the photos, a message board or email link, and about 10 more pages of text about other topics. I have never done a web site. I have a domain name and a web host. The easy part. Now, what program to use? I'd appreciate your opinion as to whether I should spend the money and buy DreamWeaver or if I could use the free KomPozer or how I could determine if one of the web-builder programs offered by the web hosting companies might work ????
