My current registrar/host is Doteasy, a site I knew nothing about; I just Googled for domain registration and that was the first thing I clicked. When I got my domain, two years ago it was only 8 dollars for a year, and I knew nothing of registering and hosting. Within those two years, I have seen Doteasy's prices and sales jump around like crazy: 30 dollars to renew, renew now for only 4 dollars, free renewal with new registration, etc... I have discovered that I probably should have shopped around first. I am under the free hosting at Doteasy. It has bare minimum in terms of space and bandwith (no PHP). I have parked at some free hosts, but they have ads. I'm looking for good solid registrar with free-to-decent hosting prices (maybe like 50-100 dollars for a span-of-months of hosting that I wouldn't have constantly worry about expiring). I don't need like Youtube-size hosting, but I'm looking for up to date PHP, a few databases, cheap and stable domain registrations, yadda yadda yadda. I exhibit my artwork on my site (illustrations). I need some .com and international domains for my small company, and I'm amazed at the price differences among different registrars, for a service which is essentially the same. However, after browsing the Internet, I've read truly horror stories about europeregistry.com (fake whois entries, hidden expenses, lack of support, etc.), but godaddy.com seems to have a good reputation. On the other side, Europe Registry convers almost every TLD I need, and godaddy does not. Any alternatives? more

register.com screwed up my DNS and I'm waiting for the correct settings to filter through the internet now.This screw up made me look at alternate registrars, and I see that the costs vary dramatically - example: register.com charges $35 per year for a .com but godaddy.com charges $7. I'm currently using 123cheapdomains.com, which charges $13.95 a year per domain, which doesn't include any kind of whois protection. I was wondering if anybody knows where I can find registration for cheaper that will include the following: * Whois protection of some kind. * Point to an IP address (which I would think is a given) * Allow me to specify MX records. * CNAME pointing. * Nameserver changing. Every domain registrar might let you change the above options, I really don't know. But I figured including them couldn't hurt. What I don't need is hosting of any kind. I just want to point my domain to my IP address. So should I stick with what I've got, which doesn't include the whois protection, or is there somewhere else that will do all that I need for less than $13.95? Private registration costs too much if you want to apply privacy to a large portfolio of domain names. Is there a solution? The registrar that I use charges $9.95 a year per domain name. I have close to 200 domain names. It costs me a lot to renew my domain names already. I don't want to be paying so much for privacy too.By the way, I use GoDaddy, their private registration is too expensive. Sometimes they have deals, but not too often. Usually privacy will cost just as much as registering a new domain name. So, I'm ruling out GoDaddy for privacy. more
