I am wanting to bridge two of my computers so I can have one host a dedicated server for a game. The one that would host the server does not have a wireless network card, but my other computer does. We have a wireless network in our house, and I am not willing to go to the trouble of wiring my computer to our router that is far away from my computer. So I have decided to try and connect my two computers together via Ethernet crossover. I have already created a workgroup and had both computers join it and the ethernet crossover cable is already connected to both computers. What are the next steps? -Thanks AaronI highlighted "Local Area Connection" and "Wireless Network Connection", right clicked and click "Bridge Connections" and it said that I have to "...select two LAN or High-Speed Internet connections that are not being used by Internet Sharing." moreVoting Question: How many game servers can be hosted on this dedicated server?

on PC I bought this game, and it is terrible, the game lags so badly just cause I get a sh*itty host who's downloading pr0n on their computer... And what the hell happened to the dedicated servers. I can't even pick what damn map I wanna play. Most of the maps are terrible to, like Afghan ughhh... AND I CAN'T EVEN SKIP IT! Where are the custom maps and mods, that I enjoyed in Modern Warfare 1. Also 9 vs 9 max... and most game modes are about 5 vs 5. What is this 1999? I mean Battlefield 2 which came out like 6 years ago can have up to 64 players. THE FREAKING FIRST MODERN WARFARE COULD HAVE UP TO 32 PLAYERS. WTF ARGHH FRUSTRATION!! I'm trying to open my NAT but am having a lot of trouble. The router that I have is a Linksys WGC200-CC. It says linksys but it's a comcast router. Anyway, with Comcast's great router page, I can change my wireless password, forward ports, and put computers in the DMZ. That's all I can do. I usually have my Xbox in the DMZ (for obvius reasons). Otherwise I can't connect to anybody and my NAT comes up as 'Strict'. So when I went to play MW2 on Pc my NAT showed up as strict. In the past I was able to add my PC into the DMZ and that would eliminate the issue. However, when I tried that this time, it didn't work. I've also restarted my router and PC multiple times. When I move my pc into the DMZ on my xbox it will say my NAT is Strict unless I restart my modem and put my xbox back into the DMZ. I have tried port forwarding, followed multiple guides (one from that website with the port program) but still cannot get my NAT to open. The main reason I want my NAt to be open is because currently we can access the console and basically host dedicated servers from our own PC. But you can't pull host w/o an open NAT. If anybody knows how I can fix this problem it would be greatly appreciated! In my router page (it's different since it's a comcast device) there is no security tab, nor is their a gaming tab. I do not have the ability to change my MTU. I tried forwarding the ports that needed to be fowarded and still nothing.in the mw2 console I also get this message even when I've tried about 10 different things: Found no UPNP devices to query moreResolved Question: Cheap VPS (virtual dedicated hosting)?
Hi, I need a virtual dedicated server. 10mbps min along with unlimited bandwith. Any around 30 dollars a month? moreResolved Question: Independent domain name for each user, one website. is it possible?
I want the clients to be able to have their own domain name in my website. i.e. if for example my websites has a domain name, myweb.com, then a client can choose the http://www.mywebclient.com for example for his/her profile, instead of me giving him/her a URL like http://www.myweb.com/mywebclient or a subdomain http://mywebclient.myweb.com Say I have an explicit server computer for my website. then that would be easy if I could have unlimited number of domain names for my server IP. I could check the HTTP request header and see by which domain name am I being called, then respond accordingly. I know it is possible but in the web hosting style, you have to upload your pages for each domain name in it's own dedicated space in the server. Is it possible to avoid this last part and just have, say, hundreds of domain names for one IP handled by one webApp? Is there another way? moreVoting Question: Looking for 1gbps dedicated server with unlimited hosting?

Table 9-2: NOS features NOS ABCDEFGHIJ Novell Open Enterprise Windows Server 2003 UNIX/Linux Mac OS X Project 9 BDetermining Server Placement Part A: LAN configuration The questions in Part A refer to the configuration shown in Figure 1. The network is a routed TCP/IP LAN. Some of the current network servers are shown. The servers are as follows: •Serv1—Domain controller •Serv2—Domain controller and DNS •Serv3—Domain controller •Gen1—File and print server •Gen2—File and print server Figure 1 shows the logical network organization. Physically, all servers are kept in the same secure room. The network supports approximately 90 hosts, including servers. Figure 1: Routed LAN 1.The network was configured as a routed LAN without completely considering network requirements. You are considering combining the subnetworks. What is the main network characteristic that you must consider before doing this and why? 2.Other than removing the routers and physically connecting the central connection devices, what would the change require? 3.What is the most likely impact on the network if Serv2 fails? 4.How can you minimize the potential problems? 5.If you were deploying a single DHCP server for the network, where would you place it to minimize overall network traffic and why? 6.What if you were deploying two DHCP servers? Part B: Demand-dial configuration The questions in Part B refer to the configuration shown in Figure 2. The network is a routed TCP/IP LAN. It is also configured as a Windows Active Directory domain. Some of the current network servers are shown. The servers shown are as follows: •Serv1—Demand-dial router •Serv2—Demand-dial router •Serv3—Demand-dial router Currently, connections between each subnet are made over the public-switched telephone network (PSTN) using dial-up modems. Each server is configured with one modem. Access permissions are configured so that access to print and file servers is limited to hosts on the same subnet. Figure 2: Demand-dial network 1.What are the biggest concerns in relation to communication between subnets? 2.You are planning to deploy a domain controller in each subnet. Justify this decision. 3.What traffic will be required between the subnets? 4.Each subnet’s NetBIOS name resolution requirements are for the local subnet only. What do you need to do to support name resolution while keeping traffic and administrative requirements to a minimum? Part C: Heterogeneous network The questions in Part C refer to the configuration shown in Figure 3. The network is a routed TCP/IP LAN. Some of the current network servers and clients are shown. The computers shown are as follows: •Linux1—Linux file server also used as a user workstation •Mac1—Mac OS X computer used primarily as a graphics and multimedia file server •Mac2—Mac OS X client used for commercial art and high-resolution graphics •Mac3—Mac OS X client used for commercial art, movies, and high-resolution graphics •Serv1—Windows Server 2003 file, print, and intranet web server •Serv2—Windows Server 2003 databaseI DONT FEEL LIKE STUDYING THIS BULLSHIT! I have many friends that play StarCraft (Not SC II), and I like to host many StarCraft LAN parties at my house. When we LAN, we usually connect about 5/6 total computers to my Linksys router. Any hosts you recommend? moreVoting Question: Does the equivalent of "cookie poisoning" occur in organizations ? (Impersonation, breach of privacy,?
gain information, perform actions on behalf of the victim) ? Cookie poisoning is a known technique mainly for achieving impersonation and breach of privacy through manipulation of session cookies, which maintain the identity of the client. By forging these cookies, an attacker can impersonate a valid client, and thus gain information and perform actions on behalf of the victim. The ability to forge such session cookies (or more generally, session tokens) stems from the fact that the tokens are not generated in a secure way. In this paper, we explain why session management (and session management security) is a complex task (which is why it is usually left for commercial products). We describe how the tokens are generated for two commercial application engines. We then analyze the strength of each mechanism, explain its weakness, and demonstrate how such weakness can be exploited to execute an impersonation/privacy breach attack. We discuss the feasibility of the attack. Finally, we recommend an approach to session management which separates the security from the functionality – the latter is carried out by application engines, while the former should be provided by a dedicated application security product. The Sysiphian in-house session maintenance In web application programming, Session Management is complex and awkward. The programmer needs to worry about many aspects of session management which can defocus him/her from the main goal – implementing the business logic that makes the site unique and profitable. Specific issues are: • Session creation and identification – how to ensure that when a new session is needed, it is indeed created? The programmer must identify that a client has a need for a session, create the session and assign the client a session. • Concurrency issues – when two clients access the site simultaneously, each requiring a new session, it is necessary to make sure that the session creation process will still function correctly. • Session termination and timeout – what triggers a session termination? How are the resources of the terminated session recycled? What happens if the client tries to access the site when the termination process is taking place? What happens when a client tries to access a site with a stale session? 2002 Sanctum, Inc. www.SanctumInc.com 2 • Session data storage, multiple servers, fail-over – where is the session data stored (on disk? in RAM?)? What is the performance penalty? What happens in a multi-server site if a client accesses a first server (and establishes a session with it) and then is directed (by a load balancer) to a second server? What happens to the client session data in case the original server crashes? Security-wise, the following considerations must be made: • It should never be possible for one client to be able to predict the token another client received, or is in the process of receiving, or will receive. This is obviously a ‘must have’ in order to prevent impersonation attacks and consequently breach of privacy. • Furthermore, it is desirable that a client will not be able to predict the next token he/she will get when accessing the site. This is useful in minimizing the damage of stealing the token while it travels (in the clear) to and fro, and while it is stored on disk at the client. • Any token should have a reasonable expiration period – again, to minimize the damage of it being stolen. As can be seen, it is not very easy to fulfill all these requirements, especially if the session mechanism is developed ad-hoc. The more intricate security requirements are definitely something developers, especially ones not versed in security, may easily miss. One recent example is the cookie mechanism that was employed by Verizon Wireless (www.verizonwireless.com and www.app.airtouch.com). The security problem is mentioned in the press (http://www.newsbytes.com/news/01/169781.html), and in technical resources (http://online.securityfocus.com/archive/1/211520 - a report by Marc Slemko, dated September 1st, 2001). To quote from the latter: Cell phone bills are often very interesting things, since they contain names, addresses, and a complete record of calls placed and received, along with the approximate location the user was when the call was made. I'm sure I'm not alone in expecting my provider to provide a reasonable level of privacy for this data. A typical URL used by this "my account" service is: https://www.app.airtouch.com/jstage/plsql/ec_navigation_wrapper.nav_frame_display?p_se ssion_id=3346178&p_host=ACTION Note the p_session_id parameter. This is the only session identifier used. They are assigned sequentially to each user as they login, and are valid until the user logs out or the session times out. Obviously, this makes it trivial to access the sessions of other users by guessing the session ID. Automated tools to grab this information in bulk as users login over tim moreResolved Question: How does the Call of Duty : MW2 Host system work?

hi i recently paid for a hosting a domain, now i have my website. I uploaded my files on it. it works nice. BUT, i have a php code, it uses proxies to reach special files on other website, to transfer them to my website. and it doesn't work :( i am sure about the code. is there any firewall on my server that denies using ports other than 80? what can i do about it? please help me by the way i don't want to buy any expensive dedicated server.thanks for your answer, i am going to include more details here: 1- i want to transfer files (like .doc) from a website (let's call it A) to my website (let's call it A). so we want to transfere files from A to B. 2- A, will give access if and only if "the request is received from 3128 port number". 3- So, the only way for B to transfer files is to send a request to A, from port 3128. my question is if my Server Admin has blocked the 3128 port, can i do anything? by the way, my code is working well, when i don't set any proxy for request, it works, but when i set a proxy for it, the connection fails. moreResolved Question: hosting my own dedicated gaming server but no static IP?
