Hi guys, a few years ago i registered with office live and they asked me what domain i wanted etc..... i chose a .com domain name if someone enters that url they get the crappy office live basic website i did in 2 mins when i registered. I have now had a site developed and is at the same address but the .co.uk (i.e. mycompanyname.com is on office live and mycompanyname.co.uk has a good site uploaded) i currently use office live for my email me@mycompanyname.com and access it just by signing into hotmail. I have alot of emails in there that are important and need to keep so i can't transfer my.com to a new host without loosing my email account (i think) So i would like to keep my office live account as it is but need the .com url to forward to my .co.uk url Please help! So far the only thing i have found is a code to enter into the search engine optimization tab of office live that lets people see the .com for 5 seconds and then changes to the .co.uk I need it to forward instantly just like it would if you forwarded a domain with your host / registration provider. Please help@ b - the address is not important. i do not use a co.uk email address, i use the .com address that is why i would like the good website viewable when people enter the .com address. The website was designed for the .com domain but it is just impossible to upload it to an office live server. Hey there. So I'm interested in making a website for a band, that will probably have a few video files, audio files, maybe a calendar, but definitely pictures. The goal is to make it flashy to promote the band. I want to have a custom background, and customize as much as possible on the website. I don't even know the first thing about web design. I've visited sites like GoDaddy and they talk about Domain name registration, which I managed to figure out is the website name that has to be registered basically. That comes with some service fee. Will GoDaddy give me a user-friendly interface to make my ideas come to life, and would I have to pay for that service too? What else would I have to pay for, and how frequently (yearly, monthly)? This has come out to be very strange for myself since I don't know if this is technically possible or not. There was this domain I registered with one of the Domain and Hosting Companies, and right from the time I had problems coming, since the domain was recently deleted due to the fact that it was 'not renewed' by the previous owner, so the company charged me and gave me all the log in and passwords but that too with a delay, and then afterwards I was unable to access the FTP, I was able to their own cPanel but was unable to upload files and all this time a strange error would come up. I have asked them several times and the answer would not solve the matter until I got a strange thing happened that today I could see another company's placeholder and the whois states a new name and address with detail of registration just of today. I wonder what can I do to this and what can I claim from the company for putting my relations with the client at stake! Thanks in advance more

My family just opened up a outdoor adventures/guided tours company and we wanted to build a website. Since I'm usually the person that does everything with the computer, I was given the task of building the website. We already have the domain name registered and a hosting package, and I know enough about FTP to get by once the site is built. That's the problem - need to know how to build a website to these specifications: - Inexpensive building program (preferably free, friend has a copy of dreamweaver he said I could use if needed) - Need a "gallery" page (to showcase photos) that can be cycled through (is flash required? would love a template) - Need a registration page (so that people can leave a name, number, questions, etc that will be sent to us) - Needs to be fairly easy to make changes/edit (was using "EasySiteWizard" since it had everything but the cycle-through gallery, but has caused nothing but problems so we just decided to start over) - Hopefully from a template so that it will look decent and I won't have to start from scratch Also, is it better for me to build it myself, or is it a waste of time spending the hours on learning/buying something like Dreamweaver, flash, etc? I have parked at some free hosts, but they have ads. I am wondering if there are any sites that will give you a domain name (such as www.domainname.net), but in return put ads on your site? A lot of places like freewebs have urls such as freewebs.com/username with adds for the free package, but are there any sites that will give you a domain name and free web hosting if they can advertise on it? I was interested in registering a domain, but I don't want to stay with the company I registered with for hosting (ex. eNOM.com), and would want to switch to another company (ex. 1and1.com). Is this possible? I really have no idea if it is, but if the domain is registered to you shouldn't you be able to choose how you host it? more

Hi, I have a .com.au domain name registered through crazy domains. I recently purchased hosting with the domain through bluehost & installed a wordpress blog. Registration etc for the domain has been confirmed with bluehost, how ever when I type in my address it takes me to the crazy domains website & if I type in my wp address it says web page cannot be found. Resolved Question: Can you give me some advice about starting my own website?

I would like to start my own website. It's nothing fancy. I want to buy www.insertmynamehere.com and have it be a resume type site so I can give it to potential employers after I graduate. I want it to display my writing samples, other pdf files, maybe have a blog, have my own email address from it. I don't need to have a store or anything. Just something pretty simple, nothing horribly elaborate. I have some knowledge of html, and think that I can probably figure out the coding. I know it pretty much just takes a lot of tedious and sometimes frustrating work to build one. I don't really need to have any web hosts that have templates for dummies, but I wouldn't mind if they had some templates I could fall back upon. It would be nice if it was less expensive (I'm on a college student's budget), but if it is absolutely worth it to pay more for better service, I'll consider it. So, my understanding is that you have to register the domain, find the web host you want, and then build the website? Am I missing anything? Also, I want suggestions on web hosts and domain registration sites. I was thinking about godaddy.com, any thoughts? Thanks more
