I've tried looking this up but couldn't find an answer. In more detail, I'm wondering if I were to buy a domain name with say, a .sy code - which is for Syria I believe, if people using Yahoo or Google in the US or any other country will be able to find it.I live in the United states, I have already found an available domain name with the .sy extension. I'm asking this question because I have a web surfer card, no website accept my card, I had a mastercard but it's not accepted either maybe because I live in Lebanon, I registered a domain name on Godaddy and everything is going fine for now, but here's the problem: If godaddy take the money immediately after checkout, everything will be going fine, because I registered the domain name and they accept my payment method, but if Godaddy take money each month then I would receive next month a message telling me that my payment method is declined! And if that's the case I don't want to build my website because, I would be wasting my time. It happens to me before, I registered a domain with GDI and everything seemed to be going well but yesterday (after a month from registration) they said that my payment method is declined! hostgator, bluehost, and many more don't accept my payment method immediately, they don't wait a month to tell me. that's why I asked this question about Godaddy, I have to know if my payment method is accepted or not. Hi I am a real novice so bare with me. I recently bought two domain names and have a one page website for each both with the same host server. I have two questions. 1, Why does my website show up when typed into the browser bar but not when typed into google search engine? Actually, my 1st website does show up in google but it is listed as "Mt front page" and has words underneath which relate to a google adsense ad. This is annoying as I am using the webpage to take potential customers through to the product owners site (I am an affiliate owner) and the word don't relate to what I am selling? 2, On the 2nd of my site I have uploaded a free html template to my website. I've been offline awhile and technology has leaped forward at hyperspace velocity over the last decade. I've always wanted to create a space news site but now I have the free time I'm uncertain what would appeal to people nowadays. I have an excellent name for the site and over the years have collected all the top public domain extensions for it. So now I'm garnering opinions before making my big splash onto the scene. Obviously it has to be interactive. I have run ipconfig to find my computer assigned the generic belkin router address 192.168.x.x, and the ip address off the router (wan ip) is the same across all networked computers; I have installed Apache and want to use it to host my site; domain is registered through GoDaddy, have tried pointing the name to both ip's with no success. Loopback is fine (127.0.0.1 throws the "It works!" message), I've set up forwarding in the router to direct all traffic on port 80 to my ip. Went to network connections to open up port 80 and check that "web server" was checked. Comcast isn't blocking port 80. Have tried domain forwarding as well, to no avail. Any advice or leads would be greatly appreciated; thanks in advance. more

Sometimes, when I accidentally type in the wrong domain name for the site I want to go to, it leads to a generic page of advertisements, almost as if it's generated by a computer. For example, when I type in http://www.basicinstructions.com/ with the hope of getting to one of my favourite webcomics (which is actually at http://www.basicinstructions.net/) it leads to a page of advertisements that vaguely have to do with the subject in the domain name, but they're still obviously just generic advertisements. Another example would be at http://www.angryvideogamenerd.com, which has a list of search engine links having to do with video games. I know there are other examples, but they're hard to find unless I'm not looking for them. Is there a term for this kind of web page? more
