I like to start a website that registered users can upload and download files. As I know, many hosting providers does not allow all my requirements. And a few service providers allow some of them, not all. I need your help. Please guide me the right hosting service. or give me any links that could help me. My requirements: > At least 200 GB webspace > 3 TB (or at least 500 GB) monthly bandwidth > Fastest and Reliable Connection and Servers > PHP 5 or 4 > MySQL 5 or 4 > Apache > UNIX/Linux/freeBSD > Fantastico Package > Shell Access > At least 50 FTP Accounts. (controllable user accounts via control panel) > 1000 Email IDs with webmail, POP3, SMTP > Spam filter > At least 99% Uptime - Guaranteed > Allowing any file types (including mp3, mpg, avi, swf, exe, zip, pdf, doc, exl, .....) > offshore hosting (means the server is in a country where there are few/no laws regulating online activity, porn, warez, etc...) I will not allow porn, warez, cracks. If I find such a file is in my website, I must remove it as soon as possible. But, in the meantime, my hosting service should allow it. > My hosting account should not be removed/suspended for my user's file. > Managed Service > Dedicated IP/Server > 24/7 Support I'm waiting for your replies. Table 9-2: NOS features NOS ABCDEFGHIJ Novell Open Enterprise Windows Server 2003 UNIX/Linux Mac OS X Project 9 BDetermining Server Placement Part A: LAN configuration The questions in Part A refer to the configuration shown in Figure 1. The network is a routed TCP/IP LAN. Some of the current network servers are shown. The servers are as follows: •Serv1—Domain controller •Serv2—Domain controller and DNS •Serv3—Domain controller •Gen1—File and print server •Gen2—File and print server Figure 1 shows the logical network organization. Physically, all servers are kept in the same secure room. The network supports approximately 90 hosts, including servers. Figure 1: Routed LAN 1.The network was configured as a routed LAN without completely considering network requirements. You are considering combining the subnetworks. What is the main network characteristic that you must consider before doing this and why? 2.Other than removing the routers and physically connecting the central connection devices, what would the change require? 3.What is the most likely impact on the network if Serv2 fails? 4.How can you minimize the potential problems? 5.If you were deploying a single DHCP server for the network, where would you place it to minimize overall network traffic and why? 6.What if you were deploying two DHCP servers? Part B: Demand-dial configuration The questions in Part B refer to the configuration shown in Figure 2. The network is a routed TCP/IP LAN. It is also configured as a Windows Active Directory domain. Some of the current network servers are shown. The servers shown are as follows: •Serv1—Demand-dial router •Serv2—Demand-dial router •Serv3—Demand-dial router Currently, connections between each subnet are made over the public-switched telephone network (PSTN) using dial-up modems. Each server is configured with one modem. Access permissions are configured so that access to print and file servers is limited to hosts on the same subnet. Figure 2: Demand-dial network 1.What are the biggest concerns in relation to communication between subnets? 2.You are planning to deploy a domain controller in each subnet. Justify this decision. 3.What traffic will be required between the subnets? 4.Each subnet’s NetBIOS name resolution requirements are for the local subnet only. What do you need to do to support name resolution while keeping traffic and administrative requirements to a minimum? Part C: Heterogeneous network The questions in Part C refer to the configuration shown in Figure 3. The network is a routed TCP/IP LAN. Some of the current network servers and clients are shown. The computers shown are as follows: •Linux1—Linux file server also used as a user workstation •Mac1—Mac OS X computer used primarily as a graphics and multimedia file server •Mac2—Mac OS X client used for commercial art and high-resolution graphics •Mac3—Mac OS X client used for commercial art, movies, and high-resolution graphics •Serv1—Windows Server 2003 file, print, and intranet web server •Serv2—Windows Server 2003 databaseI DONT FEEL LIKE STUDYING THIS BULLSHIT! I found out the company I work for is paying $1300 a month for hosting with Data Pipe. That is ridiculous!! My own experience has been with smaller sites and we have only pay $3 a month understandably we have a smaller site. But I looked at Data Pipe and they have no prices or information about their servers listed just a bunch of fluff that really doesn't tell me why they would be so much more expensive than something like Go Daddy's unlimited Dedicated servers which are at the most $500 and they can support the site and databases that these guys have. I am not a tech geek, but I just don't understand why someone would pay double for what it looks like, is the same service. I have seen good things about data pipes service but bad things about their price. I have used GoDaddy and their customer service is excellent too. Just curious if anyone can tell me why they should continue to pay this amount. Thanks! moreResolved Question: MS SQL server Database?

I am in consulting business and sometimes I buy hosting/dedicated server and resold to clients with little or no markup fee. In year 2008 tax return, I found that these monthly services compensation were taxed as my 1099 income. How am I going able to avoid this? I don't make money out of these monthly services I use it only as a tool to stay closer with my clients. Example : I spent $2000 for leasing dedicated server each month and receive payment of $2100 to cover the cost. Buy end of fiscal year I have a gain of $25,200 on paper ($2100 x 12) but real gain is only $1200 ($100 x 12). Is there a better way to pay tax gain of $1200 only? What about tax bracket? I need to serve some movies (FLV) for a client and my server isn't cutting it. Everything is playing choppy as all get out on his (old) machine. As such I have to accommodate said machine. Attempts at compression have helped, but I can't cut any more. Which brings us to my question. Dedicated/Media servers aren't really necessary for this task. Too much bang for too many bucks. So are there companies/services which would allow me to upload one or two short videos (1-2 minutes tops) every month, allow me unfettered access to the FLV url, serve things quickly, and allow for payment per upload/download/whatever? Thanks. moreResolved Question: Should I fire them and get a new host?
I work as a web design artist in my spare time. I have a website that host's my art gallery and payment section. The company that hosts my website, Iweb technologies, (Somewhere in Canada), has been quite shaky in their web hosting. I contacted them on Wednesday night via email, because I have been unable to log into my server's control panel. It seems that I have been locked out of my own dedicated server. I don't know why. My account manager said that they would get back to me, but did not that day. So I waited until Friday morning and sent her a friendly email, inquiring as to the status of my server. Still no reply as of now. I am beginning to hear some bad things about their company, and have hoped it is not true. However, I can not help but wonder, based on what I am experiencing myself. Should I ditch them and get a new host? I don't know what to do, I just know that I am irritated by their service as of now. Any suggestions? moreVoting Question: Liability reselling internet services?
Hi all, my question is fairly simple and needs a legal guru. I'm planning to start reselling internet services, like hosting and private connections. I'll be renting a dedicated server for which I need to agree to the company's Terms and Conditions and Acceptable Use Policy. In the event one of my customers uses my service for an illegal purpose, can I be safe making my own customers sign the same type of agreement I needed to sign to be able to rent the server or am going to be personally liable for the offense? How can I be legally protected from what my users might do with my service? I could block certain activity but this goes against the main idea behind the service and even blocking everything doesn't mean somebody couldn't come with a way to bypass that. The server is going to be rented from the UK, don't know if different countries may have different laws on this. Thanks, Ka. moreResolved Question: Should I get a Sky Package or Virgin Package?
I'm considering changing provider, Talk Talk has been fine but I want TV package and a lot faster Internet.I don't want to be caught between 2 company's Id rather have the 1 bill. I wanted to original get SKY HD + and 4 entertainment mixes - Variety Music Knowledge Kids I also wanted to get Sky sports 3 for the wrestling :P and I'm sure another few shows would be good like snowboarding/Skateboarding but its something I could do without. I haven't ever had Sky or any TV service so I don't know what else it really has to offer, but WWE would be funky. I'd like shows that are on the entertainment mixes, stuff like the new South park episodes - when they air same with The Simpson's, I don't want to be to bombarded with repeats, a few times but not all the time. I'd like a channel similar to Kerrang and other music channels. I would like really fast Internet I love gaming online and I can have multiple devices running at once e.g PS3/360/PC/Wii playing games online even as a server host - not dedicated just when I go on create a server where I play on. Fast downloads of course. No limits, Good speeds during peak and non peak times. Now I really don't know much about how Internet works in terms of speed affecting - I mean I know up to 20mb Is cool but how much would I get peak and non peak? Is there a point, is there a limit to how much certain areas get and how do I find this out. I know Sky don't have as fast speeds as Virgin. I'd like a new router that can support multiple devices whether its wired or wireless. Phone I would like total free calls to landlines in the UK, cheap mobile and other calls as well as cheap or free calls to Portugal ( as talk talk offers) I'd also like my line rental done through the company and that it to be cheap enough. Is HD Sky or Virgin any good - Blu Ray looks funky but how does sky and virgin fair up? Id like a box with all the bells and whistles. What should I go for Sky is the only thing I have seen in action a few times so I'm slightly more familiar with it, that doesn't mean I won't try virgin. Thanks guys Sorry if I don't make much sense and it being a bit long. moreResolved Question: Dedicated servers management?
I was wondering if I were to rent a server, how would I have access to it? Like how can I control the server to do certain task, such as using Bittorent to get certain files into my server? (Don't say godaddy)?
I know Godaddy is good, but I'm researching alternatives in terms of price, disk/bandwidth, and services. I don't need any of the typical e-commerce stuff...just a good overall package. Also, the availability of dedicated server packages with the availability of admin access is also good. moreResolved Question: What is the best web hosting company with dedicated and regular servers?

Currently for my existing dedicated server I pay $110 a month to the company that I'm renting it from and they provide 250 gigs of bandwidth per month. I want to see if it's possible to get my monthly costs to be cheaper than that. I need to rent space in a data center for a 1U server but I'm not sure how much I should be expecting to pay. Can anyone provide some suggestions on getting the best price on a hosting plan in a data center? moreResolved Question: How is web hosting so cheap?
I'm looking into having my own dedicated website and I have been pleasantly surprised to find that I can purchase two years hosting at around 3 gigabytes space for the equivalent of around £1.30 per month, including a free .com domain registration. I was wondering how companies can offer these services so cheaply. They claim that they don't post any adverts and there are no extra charges involved, so how can they afford to charge such cheap rates, so where's the catch? For two years I am looking at a little over £25 for two year's hosting and even if I doubled the required space and bandwidth, the cost only increases by about 60%. I know that server units of several terabytes retail at only a few hundred pounds now but they still have substantial overheads to account for. moreResolved Question: What hardware considerations are there on.....?

To start off with, I have a ZyXEL ZyAIR G-2000 router and I have the following ZyNOS firmware version: V3.60(HI.1) Whenever I am connected to the internet via my router and set up a dedicated server on my PC for Team Fortress II (using the Team Fortress II Dedicated Server program that is provided by Steam), my server does not show up on the Internet Servers list, and people are also not able to connect to my server by either manually adding my server’s IP to their favorites list or by joining through Steam; whenever my friend would try to connect, he would get a “Server does not respond” message. Note that I am able to join other servers just fine when I am connected to the internet via my router; it is only that nobody can join my server. On the other hand, when my PC is directly connected to my modem and my router is not involved at all, there are no problems: my server shows up on the Internet Servers list, and my friend (the same one who cannot connect when my router is involved) is able to connect to my server. I can’t see any reason why my server shouldn’t show up on the Internet Servers list and why people can’t to my server when my router is involved, as the firewalls on both my PC and my router are off, services blocking on my router is disabled, and all ports (both for Steam Client and Steam Server) that are needed for this game (which I obtained from portforward.com and then cross-referenced with the information on Steam’s website, so I know that I am not missing any ports) are forwarded to my machine on our LAN; I setup a local static IP address on this machine so that my local IP address is always the same for port-forwarding purposes. Additionally, the default server is set to 0.0.0.0 on my router’s SUA/NAT page, and all of the local IP addresses on our LAN are mapped to one single global IP address (the global IP address is not static) from our internet provider (many-to-one address mapping scheme). What makes this issue even more interesting is that I am able to host a dedicated server for at least one game (it’s possible that I may be able to host servers for other games as well, but I haven’t ever tried to host a server for any of the other games that I play as I have no need to do so) on my PC when I am connected to the internet via my router: I have been hosting a dedicated server on my PC for the game Star Wars: Battlefront II for over three years with no issues of users not being able to connect to my server. I have also never needed to forward any ports for this game. I don’t know if this may have any relation to this particular problem, but I also see these access blocked notices in my router’s logs quite frequently: Packet without a NAT table entry blocked: ICMP(type:3, code:3) Packet without a NAT table entry blocked: ICMP(type:3, code:11) Any help to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated. moreResolved Question: Good Online Corporate Fax Solution?
I'm looking for an electronic fax solution for work. The criteria I have to work within are: - It has to support the sending and receiving of colour fax's. - We also don't want something like Zetafax. which requires a dedicated phone line and modem to be setup. - The service must be hosted externally - i.e as mentioned, we don't have to host any kind of line, modem and preferably no server installation. - It needs to have the option to 'print-to-fax' i.e. user clicks print, is prompted for the phone number, enters it and away it goes. - Users also need to be able to 'email-to-fax' i.e. they attach a document to an email, and then then somehow enter the fax number and click print. It's not a long list, but it's a tricky one. I so far can't find any companies operating within the UK that offer all of these services. ThanksColour is indeed the main problem. I can get everything else, but so far am having no luck with the colour functionality. Unfortunately it is an essential requirement for our business. moreResolved Question: Need assistance with finding good hosting service?
I'm looking for a place to host my application. It's not a standard "web hosting", but I have a program that I need to run 24/7 - connected to the internet of course and all the shabang. My program runs on XP64bit (not supporting server environments so far) and it needs to be on a dedicated managed server/computer which I can install any program I want (my program is actually several programs running together). Of course I need to be able to remote desktop to the computer and transfer files onto it, it needs to be secured, fast and reliable. Oh yeah, I'm on a budget.... ANY IDEAS WHERE TO START? I tried looking in google and similar, but all full of ads and I don't know what to pick. HELP PLEASE moreResolved Question: Is it possible to have different domains sharing one web space?
There are so many web hosting companies now that offer unlimited web hosting service with unlimited domains. Does this mean that I can purchase different domains to point to different sections of the same web space? Of, course all those different domains would have to have different IP addresses. This way Google doesn't complain when I link all my sites which reside on the same web space. Is this a service that the web hosting companies provide? Do I have to purchase this service separately from the regular web hosting package? What is the name of this? Dedicated IP addresses or shared web space? moreResolved Question: Graphics card upgrade, newbie needs advice, specs:?
Here are some that have been suggested: GeForce 9800 GT 512MB Radeon 4670 (fast) or GeForce 9600GT NVidia 8800 GT I found this: VisionTek Radeon HD 3450 512MB DDR2 PCI-E 2.0 64-bit DirectX 10.1 Video Card - 900231 for $65 and it seems to have comparable specs to the bigger boyz. Is this junk? Bad repuation? I'm not looking for the best card ever, just a good card that is an upgrade then what I currently have installed. i have a windows vista x64 os hosting a fully licensed version of xp professional on the microsoft virtual pc 2007. i seem to be unable to run xp based programs that aren't compatible with vista. shouldn't i be able to run the programs as if the vista doesn't even exist on my computer? i have a separate hard drive dedicated to the xp on the virtual pc im running a toshiba Satellite with 4 gig ddr2 and 2, 200gig hard drives with vista 64 as the primary (host) OS, i have installed the windows virtual pc 2007 service pack 1, and i have windows xp pro as the virtual OS. am i mistaken that the virtual pc should act as a complete separate OS as if it was installed in a separate partition (or computer)? id simply like to keep the vista and be able to run "non vista compatible" programs on the xp in my virtual machine. if i could at least get musicmatch v10 to work, id be forever grateful i am aware that some progams can have settings changed in properties to "emulate" as if they are running in 98,xp,2000, me, etc. however in the vista x64 this doesnt work nearly as well. and since im running 4 gig ddr2 a 32 bit version of vista is out of the question. i have enabled all the drivers and hardware resources to the virtual machine, it uses the internet, graphics, and sound card without issue. im honestly stumped in response to the questions on what musicmatch can do that others cant is the very simple supertagging method and ability to add the album art that i have never come cose to finding in another program. windows media player simply has no comparison when it comes to adding album art and tagging ease. simply put musicmatch 10 has no equal i have yet to find a better program than musicmatch for audio playing and sorting moreResolved Question: Website Hosting, Design, and Domain Registering?
I want to create a website about a certain subject (that I won't discuss here). A small portion will be dedicated to a forum where members could chime in but the site will also contain a lot of my own writings. I am thinking of registering the name through www.godaddy.com but I don't know if I should use them for the hosting. I want to manage the site but I don't know anything about driving traffic to the site and getting advertisers. Can anyone tell me how to make this thing pay me without selling any goods? The forum, my columns, and advertisements (if someone can tell me how to get some) will be the only services sold. Can I outsource the design cheaply. I am doing the Dave Ramsey budget thing and don't want to spend a lot of money to maintain this thing. moreVoting Question: who provides the best web hosting? ?
