Discount Website Hosting Questions asked

Resolved Question: Eric Burns, fmr host of Fox News Watch says his network is: Right-Wing Partial-News-But-Mostly-Opinion Network?

His article was published by Huffington Post - but I don't think it can be discounted because they are a "liberal" website - these are his words. As a loyal Fox News viewer and someone who is very familiar with Eric Burns and always respected him, what am I to make of this devastating admission? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/eric-burns/if-i-still-worked-at-fox_b_376972.html more

Resolved Question: Is it costly & difficult to create a business website.?

I would like to have a website with different pages. One introducing our business with a location to our place, 3-4 different pages devoted to colorful pictures of our services/projects completed. The last page with coupon or discount information. How much does a 5-6 page website cost and do I have to hire someone to host it and do all the key words so people who google for such service will be able to find my site? What sort of things are needed to have a website? I know who I can register my domain name with, but other than that??? I am not very knowledgeable about this sort of thing. Any information would be much appreciated! more

Resolved Question: What else can I do to grow more sales with my small business?

I have a small business which is an online superstore filled with products such as dolls, books, toys, games etc that are multicultural based to help raise self esteem, self love as well as love for all other cultures as well. I offer a 5% discount on all purchases. This Friday I will be sending an info package to a few schools, to some multicultural stores in my city as well as later hosting a info party at my home for parents that we know to get the word out. Both my husband and I handed out about 80 flyers/postcards with the website and discount code to parents at our cities big multicultural events but that was 2 months ago and there has been no increase in online traffic or even sales. I have tried starting a group on facebook and even a facebook page but people hardly take anything seiously on Facebook. What other avenues could I take to grow more sales? Thank you more

Voting Question: Legal question about my website work. Design and Coding.?

I ran a website almost 2 years ago. It was an Commerce site selling discounted vacation packages. It was a decent success through pay per click. I started a new job almost 6 months ago. I was not hired to the job to do any web design. I was hired on for IT Technician. Out of the kindness of my heart without any extra pay put my files of that exact website on a domain and host they bought. Later on I had to sign a proprietary rights document stating what I created while employed there belonged to them. Remember, I did not create the site while I was there I created the site almost 2 years prior. The date/time stamps on the files prove that. Some bullcrap happend and they mistreated a fellow coworker of mine. In defense in and in loyality I walked. On the host is my files both design and coding aswell as some development tools that I dont want anyone to have. I have contacted them and they wont remove it. I have also contacted there host and have not got a reply yet. Am I in the right or wrong and what are my options? more

Resolved Question: Where should I host my website and register my domain name?

I have done both several times with GoDaddy, but I am so sick of their TINY sizes for the money, lately. Should I register domain with them (I have a discount available), and then point DNS to Bluehost, or whomever? Tell me, girls and guys...who's got the sweetest hosting packages for under $10 monthly? We need decent bandwidth, but nothing major. more

Resolved Question: Can you recommend a web hoster?

My current website is hosted by GoDaddy.com, and I use their WebsiteTonight application to create the site, as I don't have the time or willpower to design my own site to make it look good. I priced another .org site that I want to host (but .com would also be fine), but I want more than 10 pages, but the only 10+ pages they offer is 999 pages, and I only need about 50 - 100! Plus, it'd be about £130, even with a 10% discount, and my site will not make money. Any advice? more

Resolved Question: Question on: Domain Registration, Web Hosting, Redirecting Webpages, Domain Contracts, and More!?

Okay, this is a little long so bare with me. First of all I'm 15 and I thought it would be a good time register a few "MyName" domains because I'm going to be a successful entrepreneur [don't think I'm obnoxious, I'm just optimistic =D ] and the last thing I want is somebody impersonating me with MyName.com and to not be willing to sell the domain! And since the internet if of growing use, everybody should probably have a domain in their name. Anyhow, I just contacted the owner of MySurname.com and they said they wouldn't be prepared to sell, because they want to give it to their children or something. Which was kind of a b*tch because I was hoping for an Email address such as - "MyFisrtName@MySurname.com" But hey, I guess you can't have it all. And maybe I'll get it one day anyhow. But as odd as it may seem, I'd rather have MyFullName.com instead of just MySurname.com because it would be harder for people to find me! And it may look less formal. So now, there are a few things I wish to know. 1. What is the best/least expensive domain registration provider out there? Is there any sort of a comparison site or anything? I'm hoping to buy maybe 10 - 20 domain names. [MyName.com, MyName.net, MyName.info, etc.] So if the site has something for bulk registration discounts it would be good. 2. If I want to receive Emails at one of the domains - E.g. Darren@MyDomain.com - do I still have to pay for web hosting if I don't actually want a website, just to receive Emails? 3. If I DO have to pay for just receiving Emails on it, but not having a website; If I use Windows Live Admin Center to receive Emails from it do I still have to pay for web hosting? I use a lot of Windows Live Services on a daily basis. [Hotmail, MSN Messenger, Windows Live Mail] so I would like to use Admin Center anyway because I love all of Windows Live's features. 4. I'm not sure about redirecting webpages or anything but I've read it has something to do with the DNS Control Panel. So the question is: If I want to have all-but-one of the domains to redirect to the main webpage; do I have to pay for web-hosting on all of them to access the DNS Control Panel on all of them? Or can you make webpages redirect without having to pay for web-hosting on them? As in, does the DNS Control Panel come free with the domain? 5. When you register a domain with the "1 Year" thing written under it, is that a binding contract? For example, if you sign up for a 1 Year Domain package with provider X, can you transfer the domains to provider Y after a few months if they have a better price plan? Or must you stay with the first one for the full year? 6. If you are reading your Emails through Windows Live Admin Center does the Junk Mail filter still filter your mail for you or must you use a third party program? I can’t see why I wouldn’t; I just thought I’d throw that in. 7. Are there any countries that won’t let you use their domain extension unless you are a citizen? 8. Can you redirect any domain you own to any webpage? 9. So far I haven‘t found a domain registration provider that you can register ANY extension with, is there such a thing? I want to register some very uncommon extensions. That’s about all I can think of right now. I’m not actually expecting anybody to be able to answer ALL the questions, but if you can answer as many as possible and if possible PLEASE number your answers to my questions. Thanks a lot! =D more

Resolved Question: Can I be sued for this? If so, what's the cost to settle?

I once had a website hosted on some discount hosting company. They went down all the time, so I tried to cancle my account. They ignored my requests (and I have no proof that I tried to contact them). So I choose to discontinue paying them. They still never cancled the hosting however. The host went out of business a few weeks ago (or at least it seems, their site has been down for over a month now). Their user agreement said that if they failed to receive payment, they would cancle hosting. They didn't receive the payment, but they choose to contine hosting my site anyway. Since they continued hosting me even though I refused to pay, could I get sued for the the hosting that I didn't pay for, even though they should cancle if i didn't pay? The most I would owe is about $250 (it's been four years since I've stopped paying, and the price was around $5 a month). And if they do try to sue me, what would be the cost to settle? And what about the cost if I fought it and lostI can't get a copy of the hosting agreement as their site is no longer up. If you typed their name into any webhost review site, it has extreamly poor ratings. more
