Hello I would like to make a web page. I am a newbie but I would like to be a professional some day. Currently I use ASPX for this web page I am making at work. I haven't started doing HTML, XML, Dreamweaver, PHP, etc yet but would like to eventually get there. I know SQL, MYSQL, perl, java, visual basic. I am planning to use a site for applying for jobs purposes. I will want some space to upload my computer programming works and either the human resource downloads the software I created or can play with it online. I have paid web hosting my friend and I use which comes with unlimited space and bandwidth. Alot of my other friends don't know anything about ftp programs so I want to offer them an easier way to upload files and have their own folder of files to manage using my webspace. I found a nice php based uploader system which allows people to sign up, have their own folder, and be able to manage their uploaded files. The problem is, php has a max upload filesize and our host doesn't want to raise it due to quality assurance. I know with an ftp account you can upload anysize files so does anybody know a better uploader that doesn't use php that would work the same way but allow bigger uploads somehow? I'm looking for a free script engine for setting up accounts or whatever. more

Now a serious problem with my website and need a very fast reply from an expert. I have my own domain but my web hosting service is from 110mb which is a free. So my free hosting website is mysubdomain.110mb.com (I didn't want to spam here). Now the problem arises: I set DNS name servers to my free website and linked them. So my new domain- mydomain.com points to mysubdomain.110mb.com I submitted mydomain.com to google a week back and the Google robots crawled my website and indexed them. Unfortunately I resubmitted my url mydomain.com few days back. But for the past few days I dont find mydomain.com in the google search engine rather there are cached pages from mysubdomain.110mb.com Now my question is- Is my website mydomain.com takes longer to be indexed because i resubmitted my website? (or) Is my website mydomain.com been penalised because of the duplicate content? (that is my own website mysubdomain.110mb.com that really points to mydomain.com) I guess it should be the second case because I saw some posts in 110mb forum as such. Now can any body help me out to resolve this problem? I do not want google to index my sub domain with 110mb rather I want mydomain.com to be placed again. What can i do? Hello, I have a login on a free host (I know how terrible they are). Obviously this offers php and mySQL. My main site is under premium hosting at Webs.com(also terrible, but i already paid for a year). My question is, webs does not offer php. Yeah... my php contact form doesn't work anymore. Well everything is functional - but i'm not receiving emails anymore.. I'm using a free web hosting site, and the one i was at before, i had to leave, but over there everything worked fine, my friend tested my form out and i successfully received the email. But, on this new free host im using, i'm not recieveing any emails, i got my friend to test it out again, he said he did it.. but nothing in my inbox. I didn't change the code, except for the redirect page.the host i am using allows email function, says "enabled" in the control panel. more

Wanting to give something back, I'm toying with the idea of setting-up a small web-hosting service to provide free hosting for a select few... probably by using sub-domains (e.g. site1.mydomain.com, site2.mydomain.com,...) for each. The obvious choice would be to set-up a web-server and stuff on one of my own computers, but neither my internet-connection nor projected up-time is good enough. I was therefor wondering if there are any server-parks that allows me to rent (cheaply) a Linux/Unix server for such a purpose, and manages keeping it up? I would need Apache, PHP and MySQL for sure, and the ability to add packages of PHP scripts freely. I doesn't matter too much if the server is specifically to be used for web-services, or if it's set-up more for general purposes... though the latter is preferable. I basically want "my own" Linux machine -- to do with as I please -- with a killer connection, and someone to keep it up-and-running. more
