After I paid for a domain from godaddy, I found out its web hosting prices were not good for me. I want one that is free. I called a web developer to help me with a new thing... I found a good webhost that supports frontpage extensions. They have a shopping cart that I want to hook up my website to, eventually, and that is why I called this fella. Well this web developer told me that he would have to redo my entire website and omit Frontpage and it would cost $2000 now and $2000 later on for something (I quit listening after the 1st $2000). Anyway, he further said that Frontpage sites are never found on a search, they are obsolete and he wouldn't put his name to a Frontpage site. I reiterated that all I wanted was hooked up to this shopping cart, but he was not budging. So, my main question to you is whether you know if Frontpage is that bad or not? Are Frontpage websites hidden from searches for some reason? Can you explain? I'll be willing to change if his claims hold water, but I would rather just go to a host that has templates to choose from or else spend for adobe or something of that nature. Alright, so I've been given the task to create the new church website at the church I go to. I have little experience with this, and don't know a whole lot, but I figured I'd give it a shot. We've got hosting with GoDaddy, and I have FrontPage, so I thought it would be pretty easy. However, GoDaddy is not letting me use FrontPage to upload it directly (something to do with having web hosting instead of just the domain; not completely sure, but it won't work). So, I need to know if there is an easy way to save the page in FrontPage where it is an HTML file that I can upload. What I have tried to do is copy and paste the source code into NotePad, but all of the images won't work once it's uploaded (I know why this is, basically at least). Hi, I'm not a professional web designer. I use frontpage to create my site. My web pages are simple, but very goodlooking. I have an important problem which I hope someone can help me. I have over 200 different pages on my website, so making a small change on them is a big deal. Some times I want to change a specific word on all my pages, and it takes me a lot. I know php can help me regarding this issue, but I don't think any thing about it. I just use frontpage, nothing else. As I guss I must use a format of codes on my pages, reffering my wished parts to a specific php file saved on my web hosting account. When I change the content of my php file all the pages will get the change. Right? My questions: 1- Can I create my php files by frontpage, or another software is needed? 2- Can my pages be in html format and just the major file which is reffered by other pages must be in php format? It's very important to me because my current pages are all in html format, and during these years I've got many back links to them. So I don't want to lose my back links by changing my pages' extensions. 3- Is it possible to use this way to make a part of my META TAGS sections changeable? I mean by changing the content of my php file, a part of my web page's description, or title changes. 4- This specific codes must be added in what part of my pages (in the section of html codes: source)? Between head & body? or body and body? Or any where which is needed? 5- The php file must be saved in what section of my web hosting account? Root or any orher place which I prefer? For the past few days, when I visit several sites designed by me (in different computers) I get a virus message from my AVG antivirus about the HTML pages being infected w/ the HTML/FRAMER virus, to be more precise on the Temporary internet files folder... this is what I done so far to correct it, but after a couple of days of working fine, it comes with the same issue - I checked the code HTML from all pages looking for strange scripts, or added frames. They are CLEAN. - I ran AVG, Malwarebites, and several other programs to find viruses. All computer and files are CLEAN. - I emptied the Temp. Files many times. - I changed Passwords from my hosting places, from my FTP client and the server itself. - I deleted the whole files hosted in the servers, and upload them again... What else I am not doing? I cannot get rid of this damn VIRUS! HELP! Thanks! Daniela ps. I am running XP, IE 8.0, CUTE FTP, Web Files created on Frontpage.THESE websites are my own. I'm using FrontPage (outdated I know) to make a web page and I have some pictures I'm going to use as links. They are oval-shaped. Here's the website in question: www.diversifiedhumansolutions.com I made it in MS Publisher 2007 & uploaded it via go daddy In order to get the form to work, I need to enable "front page extensions" I did that via go daddy's hosting menu. Once I did that, I could not view the site in the web browser. A request for user name & password popped up. I called go daddy and they told me that IF front page extensions are installed, then the "front page security settings" override all other security settings. I have no clue what any of this means. What I do know is that I have to find something called "front page security settings" and change those security settings so the request for a user name and password don't show up when someone tries to view the site. The problem is, I can't find this magical "front page security settings" since I am not using Microsoft Front page....I am using Microsoft Publisher. Any way to fix this? more

Before I begin let me state I have no web development experience so this question is coming from a newbie. There is an org that has an existing website and what they want to do is update their website. I don't know what happened to their web guy.
