Resolved Question: Handbrake only rips one chapter from disk?

I've been ripping disks to my iPod using Handbrake for years and I've never had this problem before. I'm trying to rip a copy of the first season of Heroes and it only rips one chapter. I tried disk 2 and the same thing happened. It was the same for disk 3 and 4 and so on. I know the problem isn't due to copy protection because I'm trying to rip a successfully burned disk. I read up on it in a forum and it said I had to rip each title separately? I tried that and I ended up with a bunch of little 20 second videos which I don't want on my iPod because it's inconvenient. I've ripped TV shows before ( 3 seasons of Supernatural, Gossip Girl, Family Guy and loads more) and they all ripped fine! This is really frustrating! Resolved Question: should i buy an ipod touch or an Archos 5?

ive used both fora short peroid of time and i like both of them but i noticed a few things, crrect me if im wrong -the touch seemed to have a better interface -the touch also seemed to have better games and apps -the archos looked like it had better resolution - the internet on the archos seemed faster, however the internet interface seemed alittle more cumbersome as with alot of the other apps obviously there are certain things i want from this device though, i pretty much want to do things that i could normally do on my computer, also if i did get an ipod touch i dont -streaming videos, like flash ones is VERY important to me - also i would like to download some videos or other programs , hopefully with out the need of pesky converters - i also enjoy playing flash games so thats decently important, especailly if the free media and apps arent too good on the device - i dont wanna have to pay for itunes, so i would probably use limewire or something - and i do want a decent music player so what do u think i should get with those specifications, thanks alot! :) more

okay, well. i wanted to add more songs and videos on my ipod so i plugged it in and all those other things. when i pressed sync, it would say 'UNKNOWN ERROR (13019) not able to sync ipod'. well i searched on the internet for some answer to sync it again and a forum said to "uncheck 'SYNC MUSIC' and apply, thus deleting all songs.then check the box when its done deleting and press the sync button. it will bring back your songs." well after i did that, i got my songs but i didn't get my videos back again. I tried doing the same thing with 'SYNC MOVIES' but this time, it gave me the 'UNKNOWN ERROR (13019)' message again. can you help me? more

I have the newest version of iTunes available, and I am the computer System Administrator. Everything on my computer has been updated to the newest versions. Resolved Question: My iPod Touch will not play any music or videos. Any help?

I don't know what to do. I don't want to resort to restoring my iPod to my factory settings but it looks like I might have to. I've had a look around some forums and Yahoo Answers and have found people with similar problems but none quite the same. I have had my iPod for nearly 2 years, (Christmas 2007) so my warranty has run out. I have a mixture of music downloaded from the internet, from the iTunes store and from CDs and they are all affected so I don't think it is to do with viruses or file formats. I also can't play my videos, but I can on YouTube and Safari. Whenever I try to play one of my songs, I hear nothing and the iPod tries to play, but it fails and plays the next song, which it then fails to do and continues this until after about four songs, which is when it just gives up entirely and returns to viewing the list of songs in that album or playlist which i played the songs from. Though there some exceptions, this does happen to about 90% of the songs on my iPod. This is very frustrating as it is the primary function of my 'pod and without it, I find it quite useless and boring. On some occasions, a window opens telling me that the 'video cannot be played', even though what I am trying to play is not a video but a song. If you do know what is wrong and/or have any suggestions of what to do, your reply will be appreciated.My iPod is a 1st generation 16GB iPod Touch, by the way.Unfortunately, xixi, it's not just videos but also music. Before this happened, my videos worked fine. Before putting videos on my iPod I always click the 'Create iPhone or iPod Touch version' option in the drop-down menu, 'Advanced'. Philip, I have tried this but it just comes up with the 'slide to power off' slider and nothing else. The iPod is behaving completely normally apart from not being able to play any music. Resolved Question: How to avoid video distortion on an ipod?

I realize this should go on a tech forum, but I don't know any so here goes... I've converted an .avi file to mp4 with vlc and the video plays great in both vlc and itunes. However, when I try to view it on my ipod (circa summer 2006) the wide-screen video is squished from top to bottom. The file size is 624x352 - I think perhaps the aspect ratio needs to be changed but can't figure out where to change it. Any help is appreciated!! more

Resolved Question: Computer freezes every time I transfer large files to a usb connected device/harddrive?

I built this computer in early 2006. Decent components (amd 4400+, 1 gig ram, video card, etc.) It can take a heavy load of dvds/games/transfering so it must be a hardware malfunction, right? My usb ports seem fine; I can plug my mouse, keyboard, ipod, or harddrive into the usb connection in the back of the computer and windows will recognize them and let me browse files. But as soon as I start transferring large files (500 mb or more) my computer just stops functioning. I can't hit ctrl-alt-del, it won't eventually unfreeze (left it on overnight) so I just have to hit the restart button and only part of the transfer will make it to the hard drive or ipod. Its not just my personal devices it will do it to anything you try transfering large files to. Very frustrating >:( I've checked different forums and have not really found a solution. Checked the device manager, no problems. Even bought DriverMax so I'd have upgraded drivers. Still does it. Please help me! I don't really feel like taking it to see anyone what are your DIY solutions?Ok I just tried changing the virtual memory for the connected drive. It worked well after I rebooted and allowed me to transfer a 1gb file. But the next file I sent was larger and the machine crashed at about 1.5 gigs of data transferred. I played with the virtual memory and tried changing it for both the c drive and the attached external drive and it continues to crash. Now I get a flash of blue screet of death before it self reboots. more

Resolved Question: Why won't movies play on my iPod Touch?

So this is what happened: I recently bought an iPod touch and I uploaded all of the music that I wanted on there. I remembered that one of my movies had a Free Movie Download on the inside cover. So I downloaded it on iTunes and uploaded it to my IPT. My music still played and everything was just fine but the movie wouldn't. I read online and some people on forums were saying to reset the settings, so I did. That didn't work it ended up messing up my Apps (they would open but they would close about 2-5 seconds after). That was crossed out, so I tried what others suggested on youtube and other forums. I restarted the whole IPT and this time I uploaded the movie first without the music. Everything else like my photos and my Apps uploaded on their own. The movie was playing fine before I added all the music. What can I do to fix this problem..if it even is a problem? I might just be doing something wrong. I tried switching up all the Video Settings and it still says "This movie could not be played." I would really appreciate your help.No, I saw the Update purchase thing for like $9.95. Does it really need it? more

Well, I must have asked this question earlier on the wrong forum here on YA, so I'm trying again and I hope someone can help me. I absolutely LOVED Steve Martin's performance on AI last Wednesday night, but it is one of the videos that you can't buy on iTunes and I really really would love to have it. I did see where there are some videos of that performance on YouTube, but (1) I don't know how to copy from YouTube to my iPod, and (2) the quality isn't very good. I thought both Michael and Megan were absolutely perfect for that song, and I ADORE Steve Martin. He is a very talented musician in his own right and can play the banjo like no one's business. (After seeing his performance on AI, I bought his album - "The Crow-New Songs for the 5 String Banjo", which has the song from AI on it - "Pretty Flowers"), and if anyone loves Bluegrass like I do, it is worth getting. Help please! I want that video. Also, as a last resort, does anyone know how to copy videos from YouTube to your iPod? Do you have to have special software to do that? Thanks for your help. more

Voting Question: Ipod Classic 6th Gen not detected in iTunes? I've reset and restored it and iTunes says cannot be identified?

On my 80GB Black Ipod Classic 6th Gen, I noticed that it kept freezing on me and wouldn't allow me to play certain audio/video files. I put it in iTunes to restore it and it wouldn't show up. I tried to access it from 'My Computer' (I have Windows Vista -- using an HP laptop) but the windows kept freezing on the computer. When I disconnected the iPod, it unfroze. If I leave the iPod in for a while, it pops up saying that it cannot be identified. I've put it in Disk Mode and tried to restore it from there. It worked the first time I tried it, but failed while syncing my media. I keep trying to connect it, but iTunes cannot detect it. I need to restore it and fix this issue. I've never had this problem before it and is unusual. I've tried looking at Apple.com forum (my warranty is up on the iPod and Apple won't assist me) but nothing seems to help. Voting Question: How to fix a ipod video 5th gen.?

When I bought the ipod I was told it just needed a battery. O.K. So I take it home just for giggles I try to charge it! It has a display that reads " PLEASE WAIT VERY LOW BATTERY" Well so I ordered a new battery and waited for it to come in. I put the new battery in and to my surprise after the trying to charge the ipod like the instructions for the new battery said to do. The screen still reads the same thing. The whole low battery thing also it has had a ipod sad face on it the whole time I've had it. I thought because the battery was low that was why it had a sad face. Boy was I wrong! My computer won't allow me to down load itunes either. So I can't do anything to find out whats going on. I am not very gadget smart so this has got me totally confused. I bought this thing for my 10 year old daughters b-day present (late). Originally bought her a mp3 player but it was really cheaply made and broke when she plugged it in. She is really upset that she can't do anything with this one. Please help me figure out how to fix this ipod, I tried some of the advise on one of the forums about holding the middle and top buttons but it didn't do anything! Any help is greatly appreciated.In response to your theory that just because I'm not gadget friendly that I would'nt know how to buy the tools to open a ipod remove the battery, unplug the connection and replace with a new one and plug it in and put it all back together is absolutely rediculas! I've had several electronics problems solved on this forum, so I'm hoping for the best with my current puzzler. I live in Germany, so the TV standard is PAL. I set the iPod to PAL and used the supplied cable by connecting the yellow RCA jack to Video on the TV, and the white and red to the left and right audio sockets on the TV. I set the TV to all three AV settings, in turn, and then tried the Video setting. I connected the other end of the cable to the iPod mini jack and turned on the movie. The video played on the iPod but the picture on the TV remained blank. There was no sound. What am I doing wrong? more

My Mac OSX suddenly can't play any audio from youtube/myspace, etc.although the video plays fine. files from my ipod have no problem. I read some forums and was told to check flash and shockwave, only to discover that they don't seem to be in my Mac at all. Worse, I now can't download anything. I tried a few sites, to d/l flash/shockwave files or updates, it doesn't work! Also, firefox has disappeared and when i tried to re-download it, i got an error message: Safari could not open the page because the server is not responding. Well i jailbroke my ipod some time last year and it all worked fine i had a tonne of games, and heaps of music and videos, but then i found out u can play ps1 games with psx4all, so i got the app. but i had no romms for a few months, then i found out you can copy ur ps1 games and turn em into roms and then put them on the ipod. i followed some guids on ipod forums or something and i used magic iso to convert the ps1 to iso, and then total ipod onverter to put the games in i made the required folders and put the files in but then i think there was an error, and i closed it, i took the romm out of the folder and left the folders on there i resterted my ipod and it worked, i resterted again and now it is stuck on the apple screen. oh yeah and it said that the drive was full, so maybe is it screwed up because of the hardrive being full so its moving super slow?? and ive tried resterting and restoring but they dont work, it keeps resetting its self. plz help more

My family has yet to buy an IPod or any other Apple products, but I'm planning to be the first to venture out. One of the main problems that I've read about that keeps popping up is the battery life. The Apple website states "24 hours of music or 4 hours of video" for a 8g. Most of the one-star reviews on Amazon state that they only got 4-5 or less. Other sites, including the five-star reviews on Amazon, said they got 20-24. Even one forum I read stated that the more you charged it, the longer the battery life became. So, how is your IPod nano battery? How can I extend its life? Does the battery really last longer the more times that I recharge it? What happens years from now when the battery dies completely, can I buy a new one? Should I be worried if I turn on my new IPod and find that the battery life is around 4 hours? Thank you so much for any and all advice, tips, and hints!Sorry, but that doesn't sound "perfectly fine" to me. If the websites says "24 hours of music", then I am fully expecting 24 hours of music. Resolved Question: How do i fix my ipod pls help?

I have a 60gb 5th gen iPod video. A few days ago, I got the sad iPod icon so I tried to restore and reformat the iPod, but when plugged into any charger (both usb and wall charger) it displays "very low battery" and then tries to reboot itself, it repeats this cycle continuously and my computer won't recognize it at all. When not connected to anything, the iPod starts up, spins the HD briefly a few times, shows sad iPod face, then the screen fragments/fades to blank. When I put it into disk mode, my PC recognizes it as a removable device and it shows up in the device manager, but it is not recognized by My Computer, Disk Manager, or any of my reformatting software. After 1-2 minutes of being connected to PC in disk mode, it restarts itself, and is no longer recognized by my computer (PC says removable device has been ejected). Also, when in disk mode (before being connected to computer) it shows the battery as fully charged. I have got iTunes to recognize it twice (while in disk mode), and iTunes said it needed to be restored. But the iPod reboots itself into non-disk mode before the restore can finish. I have also tried to connect it to 2 different Macs, and the iPod is not recognized anywhere on the Macs. I have looked on multiple forums, for the answer, but nothing has worked. I have reset the iPod multiple times, charged in using a wall charger and a usb charger, and made sure the HD and battery were connected, I've uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes. And I have run diagnostics mode on it, but my version doesn't have HDScan or HDRW options in diagnostics. I'm pretty sure I could figure out the problem if the iPod would stop restarting itself after 1-2 minutes being connected to the computer in disk mode. Do you have any ideas about what could be wrong? Or how I could possibly get it to STOP restarting while in disk mode? My warranty is up, so getting it replaced by Apple is not an option. more

Okay, so for Christmas I got an iPod touch. When I turned it on, it was working fine, so I synced it to my computer via USB, and after syncing a few songs, it told me it 'couldn't read the drive' and couldn't copy to it. So I unplugged it, and plugged it back in. This kept on happening, so I decided to unplug it and replug it everytime this occured, and eventually I had all my songs on there. I was then prompted to update to iPod Software 2.2. Oh joy. I updated, and my iPod touch got to the screen where it has the Apple logo and a status bar, when iTunes tells me it has to restore the iPod back to factory settings. That's wonderful. So, I attempt to do that, and it stops due to an 'unknown error' [Errors 7, 8, 14]. My sister manages to get it working by using my sister's computer, and the next day it's wonderful. I go back to my computer to charge it, and it works. I get a few videos on there, and it complys. The 'cannot read the drive' thing popped up again a few times, but I got through it, even got a couple apps on it. Then.. it says that iTunes can't read the contents of the iPod, and I have to reset it to factory settings. We've been working on this (total) for about 2 days. I've already taken back the iPod touch for a full refund, thinking it was just that model, but after reading a couple of forums, some people had the same troubles as me. Should I get another iPod touch and see how things work out with that, or what? more

i am considering a new mp3 or pmp player and i want something other than ipod. the players i am considering is the Cowon D2, Creative's Zen, and the Zune 80 i really like the zune 80's Gui but the video quality is low end. the Zen has good interface and video quality but its kinda toy-like My favorite possible player would be the cowon D2 because it has long battery-life, quality video, and better sound quality. the only problem is ive been reading forums and this player sometimes just randomly dies on you and being it not sold in US stores, it would be a hassle to send back and get repaired so, for those who have these players, please enlighten me with the pros and cons of these players and tell me your experiences with them more

So I did a trade with this kid on a forum I often visit called skateperception.com. The trade was a camcorder video light for his iPod. Being the good person I am, I shipped the day we agreed to ship, and supplied him with a tracking number. He told me he shipped too. When I asked him for a tracking number he didn't reply. Its been several weeks now, and I still don't have my iPod. I've been looking at sooo many forums, and soooooo many possible softwares, but I can't find one that can simply convert a 4:3 mpeg 4 video to 16:9. The reason is, I have a capture card (sandisk v-mate) that captures video in 4:3 but my TV shows and movies play in 16:9 so on my phone or iPod, they look like their squished. So please, is there any way I can stretch my videos back to 16:9, the way they should be? (note: I do not want to stretch it my setting my player to widescreen so that it would play in 16:9 temporarely, I want to actually CONVERT the videos to 16:9.)Also, I've tryed video editing software that people said would work so I added the 4:3 video to my project and then i chose to render as widescreen and then it rendered in 16:9 but it left the black bars on the sides. And what I wanted it to do was fill those black bars so the 4:3 video could stretch itself to 16:9. However, ther was the option of *do not letter box*, which i chose, but there wasn't the option *do not pillarbox* which is what I needed. more

My iPod no longer plays sound. It's not a volume issue. I've restarted it several times. Other people have written on Apple's forum that they have had the same problem. It's a 5th generation 30 gig. I have no warranty so it would cost $145 to send it in for repair. So I want to buy a new one, but don't want to spend a fortune. I don't need that much memory and I like the itunes setup, yet it would cost $200 for a video nano for 8 gigs but I could easily get 80 gigs for only $50 more. But that IS a lot of money. I was also looking at zunes but they're not much cheaper. I know brands like Phillips are pretty reasonably priced, but I don't know how reliable or easy they are to use [meaning adding music on or hooking it up in the car]. So I downloaded an mp4 onto my psp. It said on the website an everything that it was totally compatible with a psp or ipod. Well, I put that sucker in the Video folder and it says on my psp that the video doesn't exist. So someone on another forum said it may be the arrangement of the folders inside the PSP folder. i am to get the new ipod classic 80GB but after reading some of the forums about it, i saw that one common problem was its compatibility with itunes and itunes with the PC, most people on the forum had problems loading the music or videos because itunes works very, very slow and some worse that the ipod cant even be recognized... even though the specs of the classic 80GB was facinating to me, if i would invest to something worth $250 and just encounter the same problems, i think i'd rather not... has anyone experienced the same problem? or... has this problem been resorved? because if now, i guess i could consider getting an 8GB ipod nano instead... more
