Voting Question: Is there any other way to put music free of charge onto an iPod Touch? Please Read :)?

Ok, so I have had an iPod Touch since July 16. And my only source of getting music is by my cousin putting music into my iPod. Both me and him LOVE metal, but its not the only kind of music i like. And I want to be able to put music into my iPod with songs of my choice, not his (even though his are not that bad, i just want to be able to have an option). But unfortunately, i can't. I will give you a list of reasons why i can't. 1)my cousin wont tell me his password to his itunes account since his is registered on my iPod and he thinks im gonna charge a lot of money to his account by buyings lots songs 2)there are 2 computers in my house that have tunes registered to my SISTER'S iPod and she claims that i cant get music that she ALREADY BOUGHT for her iPod and put it into mine because her tunes is registered for her only and i know that when you buy a song, it is saved in a library and you dont have to re-buy it. 3)I would like to create an itunes account, but i cant because i think you are required to have a credit card with your account and i cant do that because i have no source of earning money and my parents wont let me register an account off of their credit cards because i made a mistake one time on my xbox and i charged $60 worth of Microsoft Points. Yeah I made a mistake, but that doesnt mean im gonna do it again and they dont trust me. 4)my sister says that when you download itunes to a computer, it will only put songs onto 1 ipod that you assigned the itunes to put songs onto that ipod which i dont know is true. 5)my sister has to be a bitch and doesnt want me to use my iPod for the other computer because she just HAS to use both computers for her iPod when she only needs one. 6)I want to be able to put music into my iPod free of charge and not have to pay for songs one at a time and not have to pay a montly/yearly fee because again, my dad wont let me because you need a credit card. 7)I know Limewire gives free music for iPods, but i know that it gives viruses and it slows down your computer a lot and the 2 computers that i mentioned before are my mom and dad's and they use them for buisness shit and if they get a virus, they wont be able to use their computers. 8)i cant think of a website that can give you free music for an iPod that wont give my parents a virus because i dont know who to trust. 9)i was thinking about making a plan with my cousin by leting me have the password to his account and whenever i buy a song, video, etc, i will pay him the money that whatever i bought, IN CASH, but he doesnt want to do that for some reason. 10)I JUST WANT SOME MUSIC! When i reinstall itunes how do i get my songs apps videos and everything fromt he ipod back into itunes. I heard stories about losing songs from itunes automatically syncing and somehow deleting the songs.. is this true? Hi, I am about to venture into the world of portable entertainment, and I would like some advice on a good starter device. Want I want to do the most is put my mp3 collection of songs onto it. Ive been told I will need about 8GB to do that, I was also considering maybe putting a couple of movies on it. Would that be enough gigs to do that? I basically need it for music, but I'd also like it to have a camera and playback abilities, and possibly an FM radio, are my main wishes. Also, Ive been hearing that the Apple earbuds aren't much good, is this true, and should I invest in a better pair. My music has alot of bass and volume. As far as the video option goes, I'm only really interested if it doesnt add to much to the price, so its not essential. One more thing, do you have any links for retailers? I really don't want to have to do it over Ebay unless I have to.I'd probably be looking at putting about 1000 songs on it over all, Just FYI.Also, with the ipod devices. Ive heard that some of the earlier gens don't take songs that don't come from itunes, what generation of device will I need to buy? more

Voting Question: Updating ipod software.. will I lose everything?

I am updating my 1st generation itouch to version 3.1.3 (in the check for updates area) I went to purchase in and when it was done downloading something popped up saying "updating to iphone 3.1.3 software will delete all music, videos, and photos on this ipod including iTunes store purchases. To preserve this media apply this update on the computer where you sync music, videos, and photos" Now it seems silly that everything would delete. I know people who update all the time and i doubt they have to re-add all their music? however I Dont have my library saved anywhere because that computer crashed so i really must know before doing it. If i install this update will everything actually be lost? Im looking for a true answer from someone who HAS DONE it because loosing everything would not be worth the update. IF SO is there a way i can get around this?? Please please pleaseee let me know thanks so much more

Voting Question: How do I transfer my movies?

I downloaded a TV show last night from iTunes on my home computer, with my normal iTunes account. This morning, I tried to transfer it to my iPod Touch 2G, and it said that if I transfered the episode, I would lose all 32 of my other TV show episodes. I tried authorizing the computer, but it has made no difference. It says that I am already linked to another iTunes library on the same computer, as there are multiple users I know this is true. Is there any way I can get the TV show onto my iPod without deleting all of my other episodes? I have a laptop which is authorized, can I transfer it onto that? Notes: 1. I have an old nano which plays video - but there are TV shows I need on that one as well. Will my dad's nano (I think it is a 2G - won't play video) act as a transfer to my laptop? 2. Can I use a blank DVD to download onto my laptop? 3. I have tried transfering purchases from my iPod so that the TV episodes are backed up on the home computer, but they are not in my playlist "Purchased", and I can't move them there. 4. My other TV shows are on my iTunes on my laptop, so can I reinstall them after I have loaded my one episode, or will I have the same problem? 5. I have used 4 iTunes accounts in total for my TV shows, including the one I am trying to transfer. Will this make a difference? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks! more

Alright, so I'm sick of paying 50bucks a month for using my cell phone. I was looking at some youtube videos and for example the ipod touch is wifi enabled so when you download this app you can make free or extremely cheap calls to people on other phones/ but the ipod touch doesn't have a built in mic so walking around wifi areas with earphones talking to them is ridiculous. I heard the nokia n810 the internet tablet can pretty much do everything i just mentioned, is this true? can it download apps? have a different OS? I guess what Im trying to say is if the nokia n810 act a cell phone through its wifi and built in mic? more

Voting Question: External Hardrive question - (sorry, duplicate question; marked 'undecided' by mistake)?

Okay this may be long if this window allows but here it goes...I bought an external hard drive (1TB) as opposed to a larger hard drive for my laptop. I wanted to open some of my space; when I originally bought this computer, I had told the salesperson that I would not use it for much more than online gaming and school however, I have since then changed LOL. I do save school work to my external hard drive and I know about saving pictures and etc. I have started doing a lot with music and family pictures and transferring these pictures - I figured removing these pictures and music from my drive would allow for a significant amount of space however, I'm not sure what I was thinking or what field I was lost in but it did not make much difference because even before I would store them on flash drive - therefore, pics and music were not the issue - as for music, I put that immediately on my iPod and delete it; I think iTunes keeps track of your purchases anyway...well instead of babbling my first question is can I move larger files to the external hard drive like Officer, Nero, CD games I bought, etc.. I read somewhere that you cannot move anything that takes an installation or uninstall to an external hard drive - is this true because it will not function properly or is this true because it would be annoying to have to connect and disconnect the external hard drive all the time to a laptop? lol In addition to this question, my other question is I have also read that when you move these programs to an external hard drive they will not function on any other computer...is this true? Because, as you can guess, I am looking into purchasing a laptop with a larger hard drive and this one is 4 or 5 years old anyway! Now-a-days, you can even recycle and get a credit for a used computer...but even still I have to wait just a little longer to purchase a descent one - which can be 'pricey' if I need one with a good-sized hard drive, not to mention, I'm procrastinating incase I need to purchase all this software over again. I have purchased, Nero, Microsoft Office, numerous CD games, Adobe & Adobe Photo shop, and so much more...I bet added all together this would add up to three times more than the computers we do have. (Youngest has a desktop, oldest a laptop, myself - a laptop) anyway, I have quite a bit of money invested in programs alone on this laptop. I have a total of 73gb on the hard drive with 11.5gb left. I know this all might sound confusing - I'm hoping not, but I did want to put down even the 'babbling' because I want to make sure my question and intentions are very clear. I have taught myself a lot on the computer however, I sure as heck am not as technically savy as I'd like to be...matter of fact, this is how I pretty much learn what I do know - searching, questions, demonstration videos, etc. I'm thinking, 11gb is still a good amount of space however, the comp runs slow sometimes and I'm not sure if that's because of the amount of space left or the age of the computer. I did put in more RAM memory...originally had 256, now has 1.5 GB (lol another investment, not much but still additional money to keep me wondering if I should continue to use this or move on) more

Like this dude said: If you have to ASK then there is a high risk you'll muck it up!! Don't do it.. with 3.1.2 the ONLY jailbreak that works is blackra1n and thats a dirty tethered jailbreak (on late 2nd gen ipods, all 3rd gen ipods and iphone 3GS - other earlier models should be untethered by now on RC No 3 (dec 09) version) meaning if you reset your ipod or it crashed it wont restart until you connect it back to the computer and blackra1n.. Jail breaking also voids the warranty and does cause many issues from files vanishing, memory leaks and loss, rebooting and even failing to boot. Also once its jailbroken you can only add jailbroken or copy protection free media or apps as its altered the boot code and NOT recognised as a valid ipod on iTunes so wont load (from itunes on the computer) NEW apps and NEW protected items (apps, video or DRM music). YOU CAN load itunes Plus music and stuff you import from CD or MP3 or AAC files etc... or try and use apps store or itunes on the device itself!! go to the site you got the jailbreak from for their links for apps if thats your thing. NEVER JAILBREAK its NOT worth the effort or the RISK. you know that 75% of jailbreaks fail! either immediately or after a few restarts - this will require a restore in itunes and reapplication of a jailbreak - however if your'e unlucky a restore in itunes will NOT fix it and its bricked and dead (probably 5 to 10% suffer this) if you have a PC and its doesn't restore get a friend who has a mac to try as sometimes that can work! the 2.2 or 3.1 software from apple is stable and works well and lets you add hundreds of apps (many free) from the itunes App Store, many with features available in jailbroken items. Jailbroken ipods cause so many problems (just search on here for them). It alters the boot code so its not really an ipod at all. and for this reason I advise people NOT to jailbreak unless they can afford to replace the unit!! Jail breaking effectively became redundant when the 2.0 software was released as it add almost nothing useful to the ipods abilities (other than the ability to browse its file structure which also makes it less secure - the common risk only if you have the SSH added and don’t change your password then hackers can read and erase your device at will or add items without your knowing) also jailbreaking removes many system security features making it open to trojans (see news) and any files you have on it by ‘say’ air-sharing app etc will be hackable too! it WILL also result in IM apps giving your messages to everyone with the same jailbreak on the same network (and you getting their replies) as jailbreaking removes the unique encryption key to each device and places it with a common one for that jailbreak. naturally by removing the encryption key its possible hack into a jailbroken ipod on the same network as the hacker (assuming they know the key) and read your files.. it also allows malicious apps such as 113prep to be loaded which then kill many files on your system. Best option is to remove the jailbreak by restoring the ipod on your computer but NOT connected to internet and make sure you have a full power USB2 port as low power laptop ports can cause the restore to fail and kill the ipod. So... with itunes running reset your ipod (its the home and power key until screen goes blank with dark apple logo). then as soon as the screen lights up connect it to computer. more

Well, after getting a little bit bored of my 3rd gen ipod nano, me and my sister decided 2 upgrade 2 the new ipod nano 5th gen. It's already been ordered and it is meant 2 arrive 2morrow. But on yahoo answers, we read that someone said that you can't view videos on the new ipod nano. You can only view the videos that you filmed on the nano. Is this true? I am pondering whether right now is the right time to purchase an Apple iPod Touch. I say this because many times when I purchase an iPod, soon after, they come out with a newer and better version. I guess this is a stupid question to ask because nobody really knows the true answer (unless you work for Apple). But do you think I should WAIT to buy a Touch, just in case the new one has a camera, or even a video feature (which I would really like). Or should I just buy one now. Voting Question: 3G Ipod Nano Mp4 Format?

My 3G Ipod Nano (8GB capacity) isn't syncing some of the mp4 videos I have. The videos in question are .avi and .wmv format when I got them so then I converted them directly to .mp4 format. They were all converted successfully but unfortunately only a few of them were successfully synced to the ipod. I was wondering what kind of .mp4 (i.e: iPod H.264 Video (*.mp4) iPod MPEG4 Video (*.mp4) would be able to sync with my 3G Ipod Nano properly. Also, I've heard that if a movie is in High Quality (HQ, or was it High Definition: HD?) and then it's converted to iPod format (*.mp4), it won't be able to sync as well, is this true, and is there a way to convert it to non-HQ/non-HD so that it may be converted to .mp4 format and synced successfully? She asked for a new ipod nano(the one that takes video) even though she already has an ipod nano that works perfectly fine(the square one). Her reason is because hers is old! I am getting a new IPod Touch for Christmas. I have never even owned anything 'Apple' so I may need some help. First I just have a couple questions: 1. From the looks of online videos it doesn't come with a charger. Is this true or am I missing something? 2. I hear it comes with a 'Dock' if im not mistaken. What is that? 3. Do Screen protectors keep you from 'touching' the screen? Like you have to take it off every time you need to 'touch' the screen to get it working. 4. When I was at the store I thought I saw 'Hard Covers' for them. Like a harder tougher screen that goes on over the screen to prevent from the screen from shattering. Are they different from screen protectors? If so do you recommend using them together at the same time? Lastly, what is your favorite protection case. I hear there are ones like 'rebel' and 'flicker'. So, what type and color cases do you recommended most for the best protection (like from you dropping and breaking it) or just look the prettiest to you? Okay, well I've decided to get an Archos 5 120GB. I only recently discovered them, and from the video presentation on the Archos website, I must say that I'm impressed. I have quite a few questions about it though. 1. Does the TV-Snap on work in Ireland & UK? 2. What's the difference between the DVR Snap-On and the DVR Station, excluding the price? Which one is worth getting? 3. How is the connection to the internet? Is it fast and does it display web pages? I know this a lot to read but its the only way you can understand. Heres the thing: Im in college now and ever since i was younger me and my brother, never really got along. Sometimes he would make fun of me and called me names like retard. He says I'm lazy which isn't true because i tryed to get a job over the summer but no one hired me. I always thought he had 2 personalities because one day he would be really nice and the next day he would be moody and act like he doesn't care about anybody. I have good parents but sometimes my mom and dad complain about work and every time I try and talk to my mom she flips out and yells me for no reason then goes into a depression mode. My dad is easy to get along with but when i ask him a question he ignores me or he'll answer and say whatever. My mom never wanted to take me to my friends house and my dad always worked late, so i never really have much of a social life. She always assumed that my friends were bad kids which was never true because she never knew them. My parents give me everything though but inside i feel like my life is just an empty box. In high school sometimes i would go feeling depressed and really tried to make friends. The friends that i have don't want to do anything or are always busy and sometimes always make up some excuse. They always talk about playing video games. They seem immature and never wanted to do anything fun. I wish i had better friends that i can just chill with and actually talk to about reality and go parties and clubs with. But I'm just not one of those popular kids i guess. I try to be happy but i just get depressed. My friends never want to hangout with me and they never text me to say what's up. I text them but they never me text back. I feel like they totally ditched me. When i take the train home from college everyday and i listen to music on my ipod and think about my whole life to this point. I shed a tear. At night i cry because of all this but no one realizes it. I made a few friends in college so far that are a lot better then my friends in high school. A lot of kids in my high school were to cool and thought i was a loser. My brother never wants to chill with me because he takes everything so seriously whenever he talks to me and thinks Im weird. His friends probably think the same thing to. Im a good kid and there's nothing wrong with me, its just people think of me differently. So really is there something wrong with me? more
