Open Question: Ipod Issue, What exactly is wrong?

I was recently given an ipod to salvage. It does not power on. However, when plugged into a computer via it's corresponding USB it powers on but simply displays the apple logo and goes no where past that logo. In other words, it powers on only to hang on that apple logo. It displays no sign of charging or anything past that logo. It is a 6th generation Ipod Video, 80gb. I would like to convert my digital videos downloaded from web to iTunes compatible. But I don't want to lose many details. Is there a universal video resolution that I can convert my videos to? So that I can transfer the video to my iPod touch and watch it in best picture as the video can be. While watching on iTunes is also going to be a beautiful video. I have tried converting for iPod touch version. And when I watch the video on iTunes, the quality is low. I have a couple of questions here, I workout on a treadmill for well over an hour five times a week, and I burn five hundred calories, I don't drink soda, I drink nothing but water, and I'm working on controlling what I eat, it's going a little better than before. Whenever I want a snack I eat an apple or banana, I workout like I said five times a week, I listen to my ipod, and watch videos on it. I have already lost five pounds doing this for two, going on three weeks now, how much do you think I can lose in like, a month or two? also how can I tone up my arms when doing it? how long will it take for me to start feeling the muscle in my thighs to start getting toned?, because my calves are already getting there, will my abs get worked out when using the treadmill?. And last one, does anyone know where I can download movies and stuff for free for my ipod?, I only have two movies, and I would like some more, Can you guys help me out? :) more

Open Question: ipod nano 2gen wont restart?

I have a 2gb ipod nano 2nd gen, it suddenly stopped working for a long time then i plugged it in the the computer one day but it would constantly restart when ever i plugged it into the computer and it could not hold a charge. So i left it for like 2 days then it stopped restarting when ever i plugged it in and it started to hold its charge. But i was trying to put it into dioniotics mode but it wouldn't work. But the problem is to put music onto my ipod i need to do a thing wher i hold the select and menu button to put it back onto the apple OS so itunes and my computer will detect my ipod, but when i do that it does notthing. Open Question: Does opening the casing of an ipod video and adjusting the HD make the sad icon go away?

My ipod was working fine in the morning but then a few hours later, it was hot and out of battery. It had a sad icon on it. I've tried everything from reseting to calling apple. Apple wasn't very helpful. I cant put it into my computer because my computer wont recognize it and it's out of batteries. :( After a dull apple logo, it makes weird noises and then the sad smiley icon shows up and then it shut off or says "Very low battery, please wait" and it continuously makes noises. Is it faulty? The audio comes out fine, but no video shows up (I got a quick glimpse of video, then it went away). Pretty sure I've wired it correctly (red-red, yellow-yellow, white-white etc). I just bought my first Apple iPod Touch two days ago and i just now noticed a dead or stuck pixel on my screen. Its right smack dab in the center of the screen and can get pretty annoying when im watching a video or when im looking at photos. In addition to that you could say that im OCDish about my stuff in the way that one dead pixel is going to annoy the crap out of me. I wanted to know if i took the itouch back to the apple store would they give me a new one or fix it for me? This dead pixel is going to kill me. I mean stuck pixel. Open Question: iPod Video Problem: Replaced battery but?

So I just got a 60GB 5th Gen ipod off ebay that said it just needed a new battery. So, I opened it up, replaced the battery and yeah, it worked. Connected it to my computer and it froze. It wasn't responding to a forced reset . . . sooo the only thing I knew to do was to disconnect the battery. Reconnected it, seemed to be working fine again. It has been freezing up a few times and now when I connect it to a power source to be charged, it comments that it has a very low battery and that I should wait. But even on that screen it freezes. And if I restart it without connecting it to a battery source. it shows the apple screen and then just a black bright screen. Do you think that they battery connection just isn't secure enough? Last thing, the area around the click wheel (so front panel) seems to be running unusually warm. Should I be worried about that? more

Maybe they are designing it right this instant. Because, things have been a little slow With apple lately, apart from Ipad and ipod, nothing new has gone to the Apple market. The biggest rivals are Microsoft and Sony, both of which have game console ranges. I think it is about time. Maybe, them making games for the ipod was sort of a hidden message to show what they could do with their games and see how the audience received than. Hope they will make a console. Well, I'm thinking about getting the ipod touch 8gb refurbished from apple.com or buy the ipod nano 5th generation with video camera. I really love the ipod touch cause of the apps and Wi-Fi internet. But I want the Nano cause it has the FM radio with itunes tagging( i always hate when I hear a song on the radio and I can't remember it and find it on itunes, etc.) The 8gb ipod touch with tax included from apple.com is $162 and the ipod nano is $134 from amazon.com. Which do you think I should get? I like the nano cause it's small size, and FM radio plus it's super shiny. But the touch has apps and internet. Also I would like to put some movies/ tv shows on the ipod when I get it, so is the 2.2 inch display good enough for watching a movie, not a full movie just like watching 30 or so minutes of it or is the 3.5 inch display on the touch better? okay so i got a brand new ipod nano video from someone.. it was still in the package and everything and im 100% positive that it had never been used. it wont turn on, it just doesnt do anything. i tried holding down the middle and menu buttons for 30 seconds and it didnt work. when i try to charge it on my computer, it goes to the screen with the apple on it for like 5 seconds then turns off, then goes back to the screen and turns back off again and keeps doing that. my itunes or computer doesnt recognize it as even being plugged in. for some reason it worked one time, and i was able to get all of my songs onto it, i dont know why it worked that time though, i didnt do anything different. but when i charge it on my docking station, it says that its charging and it goes on. but as soon as i take it off the docking station, it turns off and wont turn back on again. PLEASE help me , i really want it to work :( thank you sooo much to whoever answers. (please dont say "i dont know") more

This question probably applies to a lot of things, but here's my situation: I'm thinking about upgrading my old ipod by buying a new ipod touch, but I've read an article that talks about a rumor that apple may or may not release a new ipod touch with a video only camera in spring. Now that's not really a feature that screams for an upgrade, but for the same price and an added feature it seems worth it to me. If i were to buy the 3rd Gen ipod touch now, and the new one comes out a few weeks later can I do anything about it? Returns usually have a limit of a 2-3 weeks for electronics so I doubt I could do that. Would it be better to just wait a few weeks? more

I will be using this PSP for gaming and listening to music. This is my first PSP so I have no UMD's and I also don't have an ipod, mp3, or any apple product. I go to trailers.apple.com quite a bit using iTouch that has been upgraded to 3.1.2. Since the 3.1 upgrade, not all of the movie trailers work. About 1/3rd of the trailers have the play button with a cross through it and it is a grey screen. It almost looks like a No Smoking sign. It is a little frustrating when something has worked for a long time and is starting to deteriorate. Any thoughts?To add some details, I am simply clicking on the links of the movies from trailers.apple.com which I am suspecting are consistent formats. Right, so I went out and bought a 160GB iPod. Then i decided I wanted movies on it...the movies have been working fine on the iPod for days now. So I went out and bought an Apple Composite AV whatever thingeh and now it won't work. I plug everything in and the movie on my iPod goes from full video and audio to only audio, yet nothing changes on my TV. I've tried changing the channels on my TV, nothing seems to be working. Hi guys. I could get an iPod Touch soon, as a birthday present. And I wanted to ask which one is better for me - 8GB or 32GB one? Here is the list that I'm planning to have: Up to 200 applications - 1GB / 2GB Up to 250 songs - 1.2GB Up to 3 hours of video - 3.8GB So I am going to use up to 6GB / 7GB total, and I will have only 1GB / 2GB left for miscellaneous things and bonuses of songs and some short videos. The thing I am afraid of that it I will use more space on my iPod, and some-when I'll just run out of memory, also if it will be after few months that I got my iPod. The second thing is - the 32GB option. I am not really sure that it will be much useful for me... I will never run out of space like this but I'm still afraid that it's a waste. I will find myself using only 12GB maximum after using the iPod 1.5 year, or even more -_- If Apple were offering a 16GB iPod that seemed to be great - not too much and not little much. I just got a TV out cord, not frm Apple. I have the most recent iPod Classic 160GB. The cord should tranport the audio and video to the TV. Okay, so, just a couple of weeks ago, I found my ancient iPod Mini, and realized that the Mini wouldn't cut it (fat, small storage, no color). So, I went to the Apple store, and planned on getting the 8GB touch, for $199. But, before I decided to put it in my shopping cart, I looked at the Nano, which has 16GB, for $179, along with an FM radio, and a video camera. I'm not sure which I should get. Right now, I only have 170 songs in my iTunes library, so space isn't really an issue. The only reason I would get the Nano over the Touch is because of the radio and camera. I hate the Nano's small screen. The iTouch would be cool because of the internet access and applications. This is a big dilemma. What should I do? more

I have a 40gig music collection & a lot of videos.... This means I should buy a Classic which is a 160GB.... But I definitely wont listen to all the songs... so I can put the best of my collection in my iPod... So I got interested in the iPod nano... but the space is still less... I'm confused with the classic and the nano... Other suggestions are also appreciated.. DOES ANYONE KNOW THAT WHEN ARE THE NEW VERSIONS OF THE iPODS COMING? Resolved Question: Why is apple restricting adobe flash player on its devices like iPod, iPhone etc?

I just got my first iTouch not so long ago and was wondering why apple is not allowing people to watch videos that require flash player. And now they're saying that the iPad probably won't be using flash player either, so what the hell is apple doing, and why??? more

ipod classic 5.5g 30 gb (purchased nov 2006) I've contacted the apple showroom and they are only providing refurbished ipods for rs.7k in return for your old ipod. The online video tutorials to replace ipod battery with replacement kit purchased online looks quite risky.Has anybody successfully tried it? if you have and you live in chennai , may be you can guide me. more

Resolved Question: Stolen iPod Touch - Any ideas?

My daughter had her iPod Touch stolen at school or on the bus. She thinks she knows who took it, but of course we can't accuse the girl. She has watched the video of lunchtime with the school police officer and knows that it didn't happen then, so that's why she believes it was on the bus. If she knows the serial number, is there anyway that Apple can track it online if the girl suspected of taking it plugs it into iTunes? Thanks! more

Resolved Question: Is there a substitute for the Ipod touch?

I got an Ipod touch and I do like it. It's a little portable computer, just like a wanted. But to be honest, I'm kind of tired of the crap I have to put up with Apple to have it (no flash, no non-Youtube videos, no third party apps, etc). The only reason I got this one, as opposed to, say, a Blackberry, is because I do not need, nor do I want, a phone function. I don't want to pay extra, as well as on a monthly basis for something I'm not going to use. So, are there any IPhone-like devices, without the phone? more

Voting Question: Serious iPod Touch Problem. Help?

My ipod, it does this really weird thing. well, first off: the little button that turns it on and off is broken so i when i turn it off, the apple icon flashes at random intervals but it doesn't turn on, it just flashes on and off. that's fine with me, i just keep it on for the whole day. and it would make through for a good 5-6 hours. but now, i just updated its software and now it dies within the hour, and even shorter if you try to watch a video with it. i timed it once, it lasted about 17 minutes. I could get a new one, (Mine is a first generation,) but is there anyway that i can fix it or at least make it last longer? I've done everything possible from turning off notifications to lowering the brightness to the minimal. more

Resolved Question: Is it worth paying $50 extra to get an iPod with double the space?

I really want an iPod nano, and I'm planning to order one from the Apple store so that I can get the exclusive red one. I'm looking at either an 8GB nano (2,000 songs/8hrs video) for $200, OR a 16GB nano (4,000 songs/16hrs video) for $250. This is in Australian $$, by the way. I was thinking I'd get the 8GB because I only want to use it for songs and 2,000 songs is heaps already. That way, I could spend the remaining $50 on iTunes. Still, double the space for a quarter of the price?? Sounds like pretty good value to me ... So, should I get an 8GB iPod or a 16GB iPod? more

Resolved Question: HELP! messed up ipod touch?

okay so i have an ipod touch 2g that works fine, untill one day the screen became really really dark but everything worked fine. So i searched for a solution online, but nothing would work for me. I saw this video on youtube telling me to take it apart and replug the chip or whatever the hell it is, but i didnt know how to disemble a 2nd gen ipod touch. So i searched it up again and found a video telling me to use a sharp object and try to peel the screen of. SO I GOT A KNIFE AND STARTING PEELING THE SCREEN FROM THE SIDE BUT IT CRACKED!!!! it's not a really big crack, just a little crack on the side of the screen. So i was wondering if i can take my ipod touch to apples and maybe get it fixed, or get a new one.
