Resolved Question: How much does it take to replace an iPod in this situation?

It's a really old 5th generation iPod I think, its from 2005. It's one of those iPod videos, or so they used to call them, with 30gb of memory. I do not have the warranty or documents or anything anymore, just the iPod. The problem is, the battery stopped working. I plug it in for a few seconds and it says it's fully charged and when I try to use it it says it needs to be charged and then shuts down. The battery life progressively decreased to zero. If I went to an Apple store what could they do for me? Would they replace my iPod with a new one? Or would they repair/replace the battery? How much would this cost each cost? How much time would it take? Thanks a lot to whoever can answer this. more

Ok, I'm really upset to find out why my video Ipod classic (30gb) that i bought in summer 2007, and apparently the ipod is possed or something because recently my iPod was charging and it was on the "Do not disconnect" sign for 3 hours. It looks like though if the iPod is waay beyond charge when i pulled it out, and it it's still frozen at (Do not disconnect). So what I did is either i held Menu and the middle button at the same time, and also the menu and the play button at the same time until the iPod turns off. Anyways, the iPod right now is like possessed or something because it turns on by showing the "Apple sign" by itself then it turns off. It does this every single time right now. It also makes a sound when it Apple sign turns off. The sound is like a dead battery or something when u usually turn an electric battery off or whatever. I don't know what's going on and don't know how to fix it. I'm not even sure if I'm still covered with my warranty still. Is there anyone here that experience this problem or know what I'm talking about? I really need help before my iPod literally blows up(I mean literally) because it's turning off and on showing the Apple sign then it turns off! more

My 5th gen ipod 30gb video has been my best friend but now its quiting! I constantly get a very low battery icon then the apple logo will appear make a few clicking noises then back to the very low battery screen. The apple support website is NO help, and when I called the want me to pay $150 for a new a new hardrive! I've looked on the internet and it doesn't look like the hardrive is the issue. Is there an answer to this madness or do i need to suck it up and pay Apple? more

Voting Question: Did I just break my Ipod?

I have an old 30GB Ipod video, and it's never had any problems until now. Every time I try to turn it on, the Apple logo flashes twice, and a black bar appears at the bottom of the screen. This happens even when I plug it into a dock. I've been carrying it in my backpack, and I'm afraid that might not have been my smartest choice. Can anybody help me? more

SO my ipod video 30GB (5th gen? no ide) is corruped or somthing, it goes to the Apple sign when i boot it up and sits there and makes a weird noise, i try to plug it into itunes it says "The ipod "ipod" is in recovery mode and needs to be taken out to be restored" so i hit the restore button, then it says " an unknow error occured (1439) or somthing like that, any ideas? more

Resolved Question: Am I able to sync videos which are converted into mp4 for iphone to my ipod?

I use the videora converter 4.07 (or something like that) to convert my avi. files into mp4 format so that I can watch them on my iphone. When you open the videora converter, they would normally ask what kind of videos do you want to sync into (something like that) and they will show you a list of apple models (iphone... ipod... itouch... etc. etc.) So, I click on Iphone since I am using it. Now, I want to put the videos into my ipod so that I am able to watch them when I'm am overseas on a study trip. I decided to bring the ipod instead as it is 30GB and the battery last longer unlike the Iphone which is only 8GB and the battery runs out fast when I watch videos with it. But when I try to sync the videos into the Ipod, they do not appear. Only the pictures and music were sync. Do I have to convert the avi. files into mp4 format for the specifically the ipod? more

Resolved Question: Why won't my ipod charge?

My 30gb video ipod froze and when i reset it it told me to got to apple support to fix it. When I did that I was told I had to charge it before it could be fixed. Problem is it won't charge at all. I've tried three different usb ports and it still won't charge. more

the ipod has been working till one day it got soaked in water. after 3 1/2 months; dried. worked. after some time, a button got stuck and i had to replace the button frame and tech. also replaced a new battery. afterwords it started to have the sad face ipod icon once a while which means technical support. it started to happen more often. it has been 3-4 months and yet has not processed into itunes successfully . the last time i got to restore the device it eventually showed the icon. how can i hack into this hard-drive in a safe-mode and reboot this into normal function? more

I have a Classic iPod Video 30GB. I have three videos that only play when I have iTunes open. When I try to view them on my iPod they don't even show under the Videos Playlist. They don't have the little video picture next to the song either! It just plays the music like it were only a song. I tried right clicking the song in iTunes to where it says "Get Info" to change the Media Kind but the only options I get are Music, Audiobook and something Memo. I've been trying to figure this one out for awhile and Apple has not been able to help me either! Any advice is greatly appreciated! more

I lost my cord. Apple has informed me that they no longer sell them anymore. Apparently, however, this version is very picky, and refuses to sync with any other cord. Does anyone know where I can buy a used cord, or a third party cord that will work with this version? I have tried a Dynex (from best buy) and one from Abucus pro, but cannot find one that works. Is there a driver or something that can fix this? more

first of all, NO FANBOYS. I have a Laptop with Windows XP on it right now and a Zune 30. My laptop is about 3 years old and I'm gonna be going to college next year. Its running out of memory and I hate bringing my external Hard Drive everywhere. I dont really use everything that XP is made for. I mostly use my Laptop for Pictures and Music and the occasional video. I use a Mac in my photography class in school and it feels like it will be better made for that kinda thing. I dont really care about Games on the computer... I have a xbox 360, so it takes care of my online gaming needs! (^_^) One thing that I am worried about is my Zune. Its old (the original 30GB model) and I dont think that it would work with a Mac. so i would need to get an iPod. also is it true that Macs dont get viruses? cause that would save me money if its true! hiya I have an ipod that wont turn on ( ipod classic) it shows half a battery charged with lightning bolt only when its plugged into my pc if I unplug it, it completely turns off? Resolved Question: Ipod frozen on loading screen and ive tried the most common fixes already?

I have a 30gb ipod video. This morning when i went to go turn on the ipod it began loading, but after a while i realized it wasnt changing from the loading screen. I tried hitting the menu/select button at the same time to reset it, but right after it does reset, it goes directly back to the loading screen with the silver apple. I also tried hitting the play/menu buttons repeatidly. I also plugged the ipod into my computer but itunes/computer dont recognize the device like it usually does. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!Ya your way sounds the quickest but unfortunately my itunes library is empty on my computer but my ipod is full, id rather not loose all that data. Resolved Question: Ipod headfone jack is officially dead.?

I have a 30GB Classic IPod, aka Ipod video, recently I found out that the headphone jack on it is broken, the little stubs inside it broke off. I have already gone to the Apple store and they told me there is nothing they can do, just replace it. They told me to find different websites and send it in or buy the part. I've had my Ipod (Classic-Video-30GB) for about 3-4 years now I'd say. It's taken quite a bit of falls before. But today when I turned it on, it gave me a white screen with text that read "www.apple.com/support/ipod" and it showed a picture of an Ipod with X's for eyes and a frown (lol). I visited the site, but could not find a DAMN thing to help my problem. My guess is that my battery finally gave out. Any help would be appreciated.Also, it makes a clicking noise when I turned it on. It lasts for about 5 seconds, then the Ipod shuts down. I recently dropped my ipod video (30gb) off my desk and the back came off. Inside there are two gold wire/ ribbon things and they had got all twisted, and when i tried to untwist them one of them snapped. I think it was connected to the headphone jack because now no sound is coming our of my ipod. Is there any way I can fix this or anywhere I can take it to be fixed? i have had my iPod for almost 5 years. its a video iPod, as i stated in my question, but it seems like its been malfunctioning alot lately. i just looked online about how long the battery should play for, and according to my type of ipod, its supposed to play 14 hours of music. mine only plays 4 hours of continuous music. i think thats a big difference and problem. it plays only 20 mins of videos also before it dies. what i wanna know is what i can do to either fix my battery, and extend its life, or am i somehow entiled to a new ipod? I currently have a 5G iPod video, 60GB, and a remote/FM radio accessory, I use it to listen to music (largely with the shuffle feature), audio podcasts, and music videos. It is on its last legs, which I'd like to plan on replacing it, so am looking at possible replacements. Due to Apple's accessory licensing chip in recent models, they are out of the question entirerly. What I need is at least 8GB flash or 30GB HDD. I will accept less flash if it can be upgraded with an SDHC card. I need Shuffle that shuffles just music tracks, less podcasts.I could get an el-cheapo player for podcasts, but I want something decent for music. It must use standard headphones. FM tuner is a must. Timed recording from FM is a plus, but not necessary. I would very much like a wired or wireless remote capability where I can make my own or use an affordable accessory remote. The remote needs to at least play/pause, skip forward/back a track, and volume up/down. Or a player with largish buttons on the front I can run through a case without looking at it. A USB mini connector is preferred to a proprietary connector. Video and photo playback are a plus, but not necessary on a Flash unit Except for the apparent lack of remote, I really like the Creative Zen.As I said, Apple is totally out of the question because of their accessory license chip. If they hadn't require accessory manufacturers buy an Apply license chip, I would consider Apple. Other than the "No Apple" thing, I am quite flexible, so long as I can play my relatively static music collection (which I could whittle down to fit 8GB), with shuffle, and easy access to play/pause, skip track, and volume. more

Ok, so about a month ago (early april) I was vacationing in Hawaii when my Dad's Ipod (30GB Video) broke. It had the sad face and told me to go to apple.com. Since we were in Hawaii I took it to the Apple store and they looked at it. After plugging it into there computer and checking it they told me it couldn't be saved(the hardrive froze they said). They asked if I wanted to buy i new one, so i said no and took the "dead" Ipod home. Now in the present I was playing around with it and the home screen came up (this never happened). So I quickly plugged it in, updated and resetted it on Itunes and it went back to normal. It is perfectly fine now! So what is up? Why did they tell me my Ipod was done? I have a used 30GB IPOD video. I think it is 5th generation. I recently dropped it and messed up the screen. Now 1/4th of the screen is not readable. The other 3/4ths of the screen is readable and the music still plays. The screen on my Ipod Video 30GB was smashed last night when a chair fell on it; the glass inside, I'm guessing over the LED, is broken, but the plastic case is still intact. I have had my 30GB Video for 2 years now and just recently my phillips headphones have been giving me small shocks in my ears. It is getting annoying.
