Voting Question: Did I just break my Ipod?

I have an old 30GB Ipod video, and it's never had any problems until now. Every time I try to turn it on, the Apple logo flashes twice, and a black bar appears at the bottom of the screen. This happens even when I plug it into a dock. I've been carrying it in my backpack, and I'm afraid that might not have been my smartest choice. Can anybody help me? more

i have an video ipod-30GB and it kept freezing when i was listening to songs but after a few seconds it would unfreeze. so i decided to reset it using the menu and select key but when i did to froze on the black screen with the white apple... i let the battery run out completely and connected it to a charger but the black screen with the white apple came up again...i then reset it again but the screen was still black with the apple... i have tried everything... please help!! asap it would be much a appreciated more

Okay, sorry for the long post, but I need help. I bought my ipod at a Best Buy Store about two years ago. By the way I have a ipod video (black) 30gb. Anyways, during the first few months that I purchased it the wheel got stuck (which I heard happens alot). Since I had insurance, Best Buy sent it in to Apple for repairs. It came back that it had a manufacturers defect, so they replaced it with a new one. Since then I have taken really good care of my ipod. Well, this year, January 1st to be exact, it stopped working. It would take about five minutes for a song to even start to play, and it had a crazy clicking sound (plus little sad face). So once again I took it in to be checked. The guy at Best Buy said it probably needs a new hard drive, so they sent it to apple once again. Two weeks later I come to pick it up and they are charging me $35.00 because there was evidence of water damage. I told them I have never been near water when I use my ipod. I was 100% SURE, but they said to bad, Best Buy revoked my insurance and worst of all they gave me my ipod back worst then it was. Now it won't turn on, it just shows the sad little face, and the really low battery logo for hours. At least before it played. Well, I knew I was right so I took it to a local computer place and they checked it out. They found no Water damage! None whatsover. My friend checked it out, also no water damage. What do I do? I didn't do anything wrong to it. I suspect since they had given one to me in the past, they made up a story so I wouldn't get a new one, when really why would I lie. I like my ipod much better than the new ones that are coming out which have less battery life. What do I do? more

My ipod is able to charge through a wall charger but not through my pc and also my computer does not detect my ipod at all. Resolved Question: Returning My iPod to Bestbuy?

I purchased the 30GB Black iPod video a little over a year ago from bestbuy. In the last couple weeks it has been shutting off randomly and not holding charge at all. A full battery charge now only lasts me about 30 min. When I purchased it I also bought the 3 year bestbuy extended warranty. Another huge issue with this iPod is that it no longer holds all of my music. So, I simply wanted to exchange it at bestbuy for the 120GB version which is the same price now that I paid for the 30GB a lil over a year ago. When I go into the store they give me the run around and tell me the only thing they can do is send it to Apple and see if they can fix it. This did not make any sense to me because it only has a 1 year warranty through Apple, which is the whole point of me buying bestbuy's extended 3 year warranty. I argued with them asking what was the point of me purchasing "Bestbuy's" extended warranty if "Bestbuy" isn't going to do anything about my issue. I could send it to apple myself. They just looked at me and said, "Thats the way it is." GRRRRRRR. Does anyone have any suggestions for me??? Thank you for your time. more

I've had this 30gb ipod video for a couple years now and just recently it shocked me pretty badly and now randomly shuts off while I listen to music/play videos(goes completely black and dies out, maybe the battery?) I bought my 30GB video ipod less than a year ago an a couple of nights ago i set my ipod on my dresser before i went to bed, and in the morning i turned it on to use it and there was a black smuge on the screen and most of the screen is just white so i can't see anything. Voting Question: IPOD: Seriously messed up 30gb video.?

I have my friend's iPod here and there is something very wrong with it. Firstly it's a 30gb video one. It's black on the front and shiny silver on the back... I've plugged it into my computer and am getting two alternating messages. The first one is the iPod with a sad face, and the support website address underneath. The screen dims for the second image, and there is a picture of a battery with a no entry sign at the top of the screen, it says underneath "Please Wait. Very Low Battery" in the middle, and at the bottom there is a little loading thing flashing in a circle. Then the screen is black with a greyish apple logo too, it clicks a bit then turns off. Then the screen lights up with the first message again. The cycle continues. My friend appears to have opened the ipod up for some reason, kind of levered off the black bit. No idea how that would've helped, but I said I would have a look at it and I am clueless. Any help appreciated as Website is useless! Jimmy more

A friend gave me a 30gb video iPod and it is scratched pretty good on the back so I'm guessing it's been through some rough times. The problem it came with is the battery won't seem to charge. When it is unplugged from my computer, you can see a dark black and gray screen with the Apple logo on it. When it's plugged in, it has the "Please Wait. Very Low Battery" with the little flower looking thing spinning around. Then it switches back to the Apple logo. And after a while the screen lights up and it shows an iPod with a caution sign on the side and the web site www.apple.com/support/ipod I have had it plugged in for about an hour so far and still nothing. I purchased a 5th Gen. 30gb Black iPod video not even a year ago. When i bought it the iPod had about 24 hours worth of battery power. Now it barley has 4. Each time i plug it into its USB cord and hook it up to my computer it never says "ok to disconnect" i have disconnected it like that many times before. So i woke up yesterday morning and my iPod wouldn't play any music, and each time i hit play the "Do not Disconnect" thing would come up. After about 5 minutes it would show the song it would be playing...but it wouldn't be playing it. Somehow it put itself in disk mode and i can't get out of it. Now it doesn't even show the music. i can't restart it or anything. I emailed Apple about this problem but they didn't contact me back. Recently my Ipod seems to be going through it's first Ipod period, or something very similar. Symptoms (while plugged into my computer via usb): "Please Wait- Very Low Battery" then the black screen with the Apple symbol, then the light comes on and it comes up with the "Frowning Ipod with Exclamation mark", then reverts back to Low battery and the light goes off, and repeats (for 7 hours so far). Additionally, the Ipod is not recognized by my Computer (XP), or by Itunes ( latest version--just downloaded). When it's not plugged in and I try to turn it on, the apple symbol, then the frowning ipod again, then it goes off. I've tried everything that I've found on the support section of the Apple website (disk mode doesn't work, I can't restore it because it doesn't show up on Itunes, etc.) This is frustrating, and the first issue with my Ipod ever. It's a 30gb Video Ipod. I've definitely had it for more than a year, so the warranty has run out. Any help would be appreciated. more

Since the iPhone has just come out, I've started looking into the rumoured surfacings of a 6th Generation iPod supposedly out later on this year. Would you be interested in picking one up or do you think Apple has lost its grip over the music player market? So, I plugged, my black, 30GB video iPod into my computer (White Apple MacBook), as I always do, to update it with new music. My iTunes was open, but under devices, my iPod doesn't show up. But my iPod screen had that little spinny thing going ,and it said, do not disconnect. Stupidly, I did disconnect. Then my iPod got frozen on that. I plugged it back into my computer, it still does not show up under devices, and the iPod screen is still frozen, with no spinny thing. What should I do? more

Resolved Question: i would like to know if there's gonna be a new iPod to come out next year(2007)?

My blue iPod mini was damaged, so I thought of buying a new one. I was really attracted to the iPod mini because it has thos stylish color. Since mine is not working anymore, I thought of buying a new one, as I said. I thought of buying an green 8GB iPod nano of the 2G models(2nd generation). Unfortunately, I found out that the only color available of the 2nd generation 8GB model is black. They didn't produce any green 8GB 2G iPod nano. Now, I was thinking of buying an iPod video instead. But, it was too wide. I was thinking if Apple would produce an iPod, with stylish color just like the new iPod nano& iPod mini, capable of storing videos &photos, with the size of the iPod nano, about 20-30GB, with metal casing. Resolved Question: good case for black ipod video 30GB?

i need a good, sturdy, long lifetime case for a brand new black ipod video 30GB. AFFORDABLE please. It needs to look good with black ipod underneath (my old case for my old mini looked bad), easily come on/off, be able to dock in bose soundock w/o taking off case, screen protector, click wheel protector, comfortable to hold, not to bulky, and to not allow dust inside. Also, my ipod will be in my backpack most of the time so the case needs to protect the ipod well from scratches and dents when being thrown around. Also, i have "butterfingers" so i need a case that will protect the ipod if dropped on the ground. Lastly, i prefer a case thts on the apple store at apple.com. Link sowuld help. THX! more

I want to buy an Ipod 30GB but I see there are 2 different ones to get. I see these two... Apple iPod Video White (30 GB, MA002LL/A) Digital Media Player and Apple iPod Video Black (30 GB, MA146LL/A) Digital Media Player. What's the difference? I don't have an Apple Computer if that makes any difference. Help! more

Resolved Question: Problem connecting 30GB iPod Video to hi-fi system using Kensington Stereo Dock?

Everytime I try to connect my iPod 30GB video to my friends sound system, it cuts out/freezes and stays that way for about another 20 seconds after I take it out of the kensington stereo dock. The screen goes dark firsty, then lights up with a black apple logo, and eventually goes back to the main menu. This happens when I press play when the iPod is docked. I can sometimes get the system to play music IF the song is playing before I connect it. But even doing it this way, the iPod times out after 10-15 mins, and freezes/shows the black apple logo... Does anyone know why this happens and what can be done to fix it?Thanks, sounds like that stray voltage theory could be correct. It only happens with my iPod on my friends system though, his own iPod works perfectly well with no glitches... And just to make things slightly more complicated, my iPod works on my own docking station absolutely perfectly!?! more
