hi there, i have been given the opertunity to buy a archos 605 30gb. i currently have a black ipod classic 120gb. i dont know what to do. i used to have a ipod touch and i swapped for my current ipod but im missing the clear wide screen video, internet and games which im told the archos does all this and more but the ipod classic has a huge 120gb hard drive which is suitable for all my movies. if i bought the archos i would have to sell the ipod to fund it and im hoping i would get a little bit of extra pocket money from it. what would you do? thanks more

I have an old 30GB Ipod video, and it's never had any problems until now. Every time I try to turn it on, the Apple logo flashes twice, and a black bar appears at the bottom of the screen. This happens even when I plug it into a dock. I've been carrying it in my backpack, and I'm afraid that might not have been my smartest choice. Can anybody help me? more

If you go to play a song you can click on it and the song will appear, the bar will show the song is playing but no audio comes out. If I go to play a video the screen will stay black and will not play, but you can hold do the fast forward button and it will fast forward but it will never actually play, it will just be frozen frames. My video games work but they too do not play audio out of them. These are all ipod files and are not different files so they should work but they are not working... I'm thinking this is a software problem....Please Advise more

Resolved Question: How do I import a tv series of 24 videos onto my ipod 30GB video?

I have a tv series that I want to put onto my 30GB Ipod video. They are in mpeg4 (mp4) format and I've tried everything from opening them into the "Movies" list in itunes which they only play in itunes. I've tried to place the files manually into the itunes music/movies folder, I've tried to sync the movies and nothing works. For some reason, if I go to the sync movies tab for my ipod the videos I want to put on are on the list, but the black letters are faded, also the check box is not lit up like the official itunes movies are. Itunes is really starting to piss me off, and I really need help. I just tried to sync all movies, and it deleted all of the music off of my ipod. more

I upgraded my iTunes 7.11. to 8.0 and I really don't like it at all. It's fast and all but I just like the old one better. Sometimes I download videos and goes into my ipod but now it can't. I have 30GB classic (i think) ipod. I noticed earlier tho that the classic doesnt have 30gb...but it is a 30 GB black video ipod, the big ones. AND...i've been trying to put videos on my ipod from youtube for a WHILE now. I download it into MP4 format or FVI. And then I even convert it, but whenever i put it into my itunes, it plays, but it doesnt play on my ipod, i just hear the audio. And I know videos can play on it because my brother used to put movies on it, but he's in australia so i cant ask him. Hey I have a 30gb black Ipod video classic, blahblah. Anyway a couple of years ago I cracked the screen, I am aware I can buy a new one but they're quite hard to find over here in NZ. It still works fine when I charge it and sync it; I just can't see the screen. I can basically just use it as a 'shuffle' now. I need someones help! I turn the Ipod on and press play, I guess that goes to shuffle mode.. it just keeps playing the same bloody band over and over and then some others, then the same. doesn't play anything i really wanna hear LOL So am i right in just turning it on and then pressing play?... does that go to shuffle? I'm looking to sell my 6th generation Classic iPod Video, 80GB. It's black and still in mint condition minus the fingerprints on the back of it. Only had it for a few months or so. When I bout it it was $250 (Now I wish I had waited since the new 120GB iPod is the same price and I could have used the extra space). A friend of mine has an iPod video (5th gen, black, 80gb) that he used to use, but he now has an iPod Touch and never touches the 5G anymore. It's really beat up, but the damage is only cosmetic (as far as I can tell). In other words, the iPod works fine, but looks awful. He wants me to pay him $50 for it. Is this worth it????? PS: I already have an iPod video (5th generation) but it is the 30gb model, so it cannot hold all of my songs (I'd like to have movies on it as well as ALL of my music) In short, I already have an inferior version of this iPod. Hi there i have a 30gb video iPod in black and have had it for years! A little while back i had a problem where all the music on the iPod showed up as storage space taken up but would not show up on the actual iPod itself, so a friend of mine took it and wiped it and synced it with the software from his iPod which was not a video one. I have since realised that i can no longer store video's or photo's on my iPod, so i am guessing it is running the software for just a straight music iPod. Resolved Question: Apple lied to me about my iPod!!!?

Okay, sorry for the long post, but I need help. I bought my ipod at a Best Buy Store about two years ago. By the way I have a ipod video (black) 30gb. Anyways, during the first few months that I purchased it the wheel got stuck (which I heard happens alot). Since I had insurance, Best Buy sent it in to Apple for repairs. It came back that it had a manufacturers defect, so they replaced it with a new one. Since then I have taken really good care of my ipod. Well, this year, January 1st to be exact, it stopped working. It would take about five minutes for a song to even start to play, and it had a crazy clicking sound (plus little sad face). So once again I took it in to be checked. The guy at Best Buy said it probably needs a new hard drive, so they sent it to apple once again. Two weeks later I come to pick it up and they are charging me $35.00 because there was evidence of water damage. I told them I have never been near water when I use my ipod. I was 100% SURE, but they said to bad, Best Buy revoked my insurance and worst of all they gave me my ipod back worst then it was. Now it won't turn on, it just shows the sad little face, and the really low battery logo for hours. At least before it played. Well, I knew I was right so I took it to a local computer place and they checked it out. They found no Water damage! None whatsover. My friend checked it out, also no water damage. What do I do? I didn't do anything wrong to it. I suspect since they had given one to me in the past, they made up a story so I wouldn't get a new one, when really why would I lie. I like my ipod much better than the new ones that are coming out which have less battery life. What do I do? more

Voting Question: Problem putting itunes TV show on ipod ??

Hi there, I have a 30gb 5th generation video ipod. I've been putting music on it through itunes for months now and have never had a problem listening to it on the ipod. But today I bought a TV show from the iTunes store and watched in on my computer and everything was ok. then I plugged in my ipod so I can put it on there. I dragged the tv from the tv shows section on my itunes library into the tv shows section on the ipod. It said it was copying it just like it does with my music. Then when it was completed I unplugged my ipod and wanted to try watching it. it shows up under the videos > tv shows > name of show > name of episode. but everytime I click on it to watch it, it just gives me a black screen! no show! then after like 30 seconds it goes back to my list of tv shows. I have tried to delete the show and try uploading it again, but same thing. this is the first time I've tried to put any type of video on this ipod, its always just been music before but I've never had any problems with it before. what can I do to make the show play? please help! :( more
