Resolved Question: Why is my 8GB iPod not holding much at all?!?

A few weeks ago, I went to play my iPod in my car only to find that ALL the songs were deleted. I have no idea why. Now, I'm looking on iTunes and it says 4.01 GB for Audio. 3.37 for Other and 22.7 MB for Free. I have no pictures, games (except the three it came with) movies, videos, music videos, nothing. It's strictly music/audio. Why is so much being taken up by OTHER if all I have i music? I realize that some of it is for folders and settings, but it should not be close to half of the storage on there!!! I'm getting frustrated with this iPod. It's a red iPod Nano. 8 GB. I'm a newb to the mp3 player scene. Here's what I want though. Something similar to an Ipod, that will play my music in the car, over my current stereo system w/ out having to hook up any cords to the current cd player. I know ipod has an attachment that allows you to simply tune the Receiver to a certain station & your music plays thru the receiver. Which am I better off getting? The Zune HD looks awesome had has a few awesome features like hD radio, 720 HD output, web browser and OLED display, even has better audio quality than iPods HOWEVER iPod Classic is more space and more established (docks in cars and sound systems.) Would 32 gigs even be practical on a "HD" device? What thats like 2 (blurray) movies if you already have like 16 gigs of music? Hi I'm attempting to connect two audio sources to one output source (Source 1: HU, Source 2: iPod run through a seperate powered crossover) because I want to be able to play videos on the HU and tv screens while playing different music from the iPod (like for a car show) both run through the SAME pair of amplifiers, one for the highs and one for the subs. I know using simple 2 in - 1 out adapters is not the way to go as it can damage the audio sources, so I was looking into getting an RCA switchbox to distribute the signal. i just got a new truck, it came with a jensen flip out touch screen cd,dvd,aux,ipod head unit. its a jensen vm9113ts. im trying to get my ipod to play on the screen. i hooked up the video cable, it got signal but doesnt display video. it says, blah blah engage parking break to watch movie. i touched the cable on the back of the deck to a ground and put the ebrake down. nothing, i looked at forms and it says to try sequence, tried that, still nothing. my friend who owns a car audio place told me i might need the remote. is this true? please someone help, is there a way to fix this problem??? is there something else im missing or maybe there is a defect? more

Voting Question: What types of speakers best compliment the Audio Deck Ive chosen?

I have bought a Boss 720CA deck to replace a malfunctioning Pioneer receiver. The Pioneer Receiver had 160 Watts Max output with 40 W-RMS x 4 Channels while the Boss receiver pushes out 200 Watts Max and 50 W-RMS x 4 Channels. Resolved Question: Ipod Audio not working, need help?

Basically, everything on my ipod works (still charges, plays videos & songs, etc) except the audio. A song will still play through but there's no sound at all. It started when i left it out in the sun in my car. When i plugged it into the radio or AUV connection thing that lets you play your ipod in the car, it played through a few songs (sound was fine) then it started making this scratchy noise and the audio just shut off. It doesn't work with headphones either. I tried the thing where you put the Ipod in the freezer for awhile but it only works temporarily. I was wondering if anyone knew any methods that could permanently repair the Ipod. more

Voting Question: 5th gen Ipod "video" not playing audio?

I've been using my Ipod for a little less than 3 years and it has been working perfectly fine up until now. There has been no damage I can think of to the Ipod. No audio is playing through either the headphone jack OR the dock connector (i.e. into some external audio system). The screen shows the song is playing and progress bar tells me I'm xyz minutes into the song.*However,* when connected to my computer through the dock connector and usb, Itunes will bring up the entire library of songs on the Ipod and I can play the songs there, even if the computer has never seen the Ipod before. I can put new songs on my Ipod and delete them and everything else one can normally do so I don't see how it would be a connection problem. I have tested the Ipod using different headphones that work with other audio devices I have and no luck. Also I have hooked the Ipod up to various speakers, alarm clocks, and car Ipod compatible devices through the dock connector and no luck. From what I've found it only works through the computer, which is what baffles me. Any help/ideas would be appreciated!!! more

I've got a '99 Plymouth Neon with a basic audio system... meaning just plain old AM/FM Radio. I've also got a Fifth Generation Video iPod. I just installed a Kenwood DDX512 deck in my Mitsubishi Eclipse. All of the audio works (radio, DVD, etc) except when I hook up my iPod Touch via the iPod audio/video cable. The deck syncs perfectly with my iPod (all my music shows up on the screen of the deck) but when I go to play a song, there is no audio what-so-ever.I know people are using an iPod Touch with this model deck, so that isn't the issue. I listen to my iPod Classic at about 40% volume for about 2 hours each day, sometimes more. About half the time, I reduce it to half that volume since the song files have good quality audio. Also, some of the videos are really soft, but I don't unlock the volume limit (this can be soooo bugging)...I'm paranoid about going deaf like this (I wanna be a musician..yippee!!) Hey guys, im upgrading my sound system in my Mazda Protege 5. heres a picture http://www.thesarniascene.ca/deck.JPG So heres how its set up. Pioneer Deck with an external LCD monitor. The LCD monitor has two video ins. I have thought of three possible options on how to do this. #1: Now here is my thinking, i need a new Deck with multiple RCA in, one for my PS2, and one for my Ipod Touch. All i need is a Ipod Composite Cable to hook the Touch up to the car audio through the deck, and the LCD monitor through the Video In. Also with the Composite cable i can hook the USB up to my car adapter to charge the Ipod at the same time. #2: (which im not sure will work :S) Buy a new "Ipod Ready" decks, with the Ipod integration and all that jazz.The deck would also need a Video Out port to run to the external LCD monitor. Resolved Question: Why doesnt someone build one portable unit capable of GPS nav, Radar/Laser detection, Satellite Radio, etc etc

I'm just curious why someone doesn't build a one unit does it all. We can't have 4 devices in our windshields. Why don't the major manufactures like Valentine 1 or Escort, Tom tom or Garmin, and XM or Siruis, get together and build one unit you can take from car to car that does all of this plus has a media player for all the video and audio formatas and tons of on board storage. I can envision a GPS Nav screen that uses Valentines ability to point in the direction of an incoming radar signal and even pin point the location of multiple radar/laser sources on the map including remembering where false signals occur using gps technology escort has. Then combine this with a ipod style media player, an competent GPS nav with GPRS updates like the new Dash express.. I mean it would be the end all of all car accesories. They could make a portable and in dash version depending on the customers desires. Wouldn't this be killer? more

I have been looking at best buy and seen one from Kenwood called the Kenwood DDX7019 but I've heard some bad things about it. I was wondering if there are any alternatives to the Kenwood DDX7019. I'm not concerned with GPS or a rear back up camera or even DVD playback (although I think that is standard with most car video systems), the most important thing for me is that the video system can play videos from the ipod video (or classic). Any help on any brands and models or even a website that sells every car audio/video headunts will be appreciated =) more

Resolved Question: how to revive a stuck or hanged ipod video?

my 30 gb ipod video hang while connected to a car audio extension or jack. My friend tried the "Press menu & center" to reset the ipod but it failed leaving the LCD blank and not responsive to any resetting trick, is there any other way to resolve this or just leave it for sometime (maybe it needs a rest?). It has been hanged for two days now, I also tried toggling the "HOLD" switch and connecting to a AC Adaptor, but to no avail. Please answer... more

Is there any development of in-car video/audio systems that can play blu-ray discs? I could put all of my music on 1 25GB disc and if it had a touch-screen interface like those of ipod interfaces it would be really cool. Just wondering. Also, you could watch HD movies in the car! They just have to develop a HD screen 7". Then it could have a HD tuner, to watch tv in HD. There are systems like these that can tune 4, 6, 8, 10,etc. A system like this would be very expensive, but I would buy one.But the price of players will decrease, because the PS3 will play BD's and they're going to be $500-$600. It would be expensive, but it would be cool. Maybe you could install a tailgating machine in the back of an SUV with a big screen HDTV. more
