I have a 30gb Video iPod (3 years old) and over time I added songs and movies to it with iTunes. Recently, I got a new computer and just installed iTunes 9 (the new one). (I use Windows Media Player and have a few albums on it...so when I installed iTunes, it transferred to iTunes) It says I can transfer my purchases (some songs and movies) from my iPod to iTunes or it can remove everything on my iPod and replace it with music already on iTunes (which is not much). We were hoping to download them into our Creative Zen MP3 player (30gb)...but they got saved as an "m4v" file - Is there a way I can convert that into a file that my Zen will accept? So I'm not an ipod lover. Tried it, didn't like it. I currently have a Zen. I like using a subscription service and also purchasing music that I really like. So I thought I'd try a Zune. I like the player tho it takes some getting used to. But what I can't handle is the fact that the software is completely bringing my pc to a halt. I basically use my player for music and pics; not alot of videos, I'm not a dj so I don't have tons of music files. My zen is a 30gb and that's what I'd like to stick with unless of course something has a great deal. I'd like some advice from those of you that know the mp3 scene well. Please don't start telling me that ipods rule. If you have some helpful info that might sway me to ipod, that's great. My iPod Video 30GB broke a few weeks ago and i'm saving up for a new MP3 player. I'm torn between the two. Voting Question: Any Good Mp3 Players?

I have an Ipod video 30gb and thinking about getting a new mp3 player. One thing is that I want something with at least 30gb and I am not a fan of zunes (sorry). Has to be able to play videos and a decent sized screen, not a fan of watching videos on ipod nano sized screens. Also don't want to spend a lot (who does). I currently have a 5G iPod video, 60GB, and a remote/FM radio accessory, I use it to listen to music (largely with the shuffle feature), audio podcasts, and music videos. It is on its last legs, which I'd like to plan on replacing it, so am looking at possible replacements. Due to Apple's accessory licensing chip in recent models, they are out of the question entirerly. What I need is at least 8GB flash or 30GB HDD. I will accept less flash if it can be upgraded with an SDHC card. I need Shuffle that shuffles just music tracks, less podcasts.I could get an el-cheapo player for podcasts, but I want something decent for music. It must use standard headphones. FM tuner is a must. Timed recording from FM is a plus, but not necessary. I would very much like a wired or wireless remote capability where I can make my own or use an affordable accessory remote. The remote needs to at least play/pause, skip forward/back a track, and volume up/down. Or a player with largish buttons on the front I can run through a case without looking at it. A USB mini connector is preferred to a proprietary connector. Video and photo playback are a plus, but not necessary on a Flash unit Except for the apparent lack of remote, I really like the Creative Zen.As I said, Apple is totally out of the question because of their accessory license chip. If they hadn't require accessory manufacturers buy an Apply license chip, I would consider Apple. Other than the "No Apple" thing, I am quite flexible, so long as I can play my relatively static music collection (which I could whittle down to fit 8GB), with shuffle, and easy access to play/pause, skip track, and volume. more

I have almost 20GB on my computer and having to be so selective about the songs on it is annoying, I want to buy a player which holds 20 or 30Gb, but I don't know of anything besides iPods. I want to buy a new one and I am not sure what to get exactly. So far I've been looking at the 80GB Zune, 30GB iPod, and the new 120GB iPod. I want the 80GB Zune because it has a nice 3.2 inch screen which is ideal for watching movies and videos. Quite a few of my friends have the 30GB iPod and they said it is a great product. Plus I looked on Amazon.com and it is only around $170 for a new one. Well apparently the hole that I plug my headphones into my iPod on is broken/has a short in it. SO this means that when I listen to it sound only comes out of one headphone. Or if I wiggle the plug around in the hole I can get it to come out of both headphones, but I have to hold it there and then as soon as I let go it goes back to one ear. I'm positive the problem is the iPod not my headphones, as I've tried it with 3 different pairs of headphones (one brand new), and all of them had the short problem on the iPod but worked fine on other things (like my laptop). Oh, so, I'm just wondering if a) there's something I can do to fix this on my own or b) approx. how much it'd cost to fix. It's a 30GB video player one. Thanks! more

I have an 8gb ipod touch. I currently am down to roughly 7gb of music in my itunes opposed to the 30gb of music I had before I started sharing a computer with my boyfriend. I had a Creative Zen Vision M 30gb. I really liked it. I don't want an Ipod simply b/c I prefer subscription music and then just buy the ones I really want to have. I have a 30GB video ipod, and got it on my 13th birthday, which was 2.5 years ago (no warranty). There's something wrong with my headphone jack, so I can only hear out of one side of my headphones, no matter which headphones I use. i have a 30gb video ipod that i got a number of years ago off my sister, who i think probably had used it for a few years before that too. i have 67 gb of music in itunes. yeah i use the selective playlist thing but it is still a bit restrictive because i choose what i am going to listen to before i go out in morning. that is not my main problem, my main annoyance with it is the battery life. i listen to music a lot on college days outside my house. it has run out and i often save listening to music for a bit later(when it is more important to have music because the train trip is so boring). btw i am not looking for responses about how to conserve the battery life by lowering the light time or anything else like that, i have the backlight off and it is updated to the latest software and all that stuff. or is there a product that is better out there and i should get it? what would you recomend? cost is a factor bythe way. one thing that is important to me is a smart playlist feature because i use that a lot in fact almost all my listening is with smart playlists.oh yeah btw i charge my ipod every day more

The inch of depth on the Vision is kind of big... But i believe the zen's have built in speakers? I heard the SD slots suck though so I shouldn't bank on that from creative zens. If it played music that'd be nice. Any thoughts? suggestions? other MP3 players? I would like sort of an SD feature (a GOOD one), but that's not imperative, so if anyone knows of a player that has a good one and meets my "requirements"-- please let me know.
