When I hook up the iPod to the TV through the wire I get audio, but when I switch the Video Settings to TV Out=On, I lose audio and still don't get video on my TV. Is it faulty? The audio comes out fine, but no video shows up (I got a quick glimpse of video, then it went away). Pretty sure I've wired it correctly (red-red, yellow-yellow, white-white etc). I have an Ipod Nano 4th generation. I have been trying to set it up so that it could play movies on a TV using a regular camcorder AV cable. I have looked up many websites to see how to connect it to the TV and followed their directions...Red to Yellow...Yellow to White...White to Red. But....There is a problem...I set up my Ipod to the correct settings and when i press the movie i want to see, a message pops out that says, "TV Out Enabled Please Connect Video Accessory." Alright so I just got a buncha movies on my ipod. I also bought a TV to Mp3 AV A/V VIdeo Cable Cord to watch my movies on my tv. it works great, but the wire that i bought doesn't charge my ipod while i watch the movies. I can only watch movies as long as my batter life is. The cord I have plugs into the bottom of my ipod and then into my tv. So is there any way to charge my ipod? i.e a charger that charges through your headphone jack if thats possible or like a charger that still gives you that plug in the bottom of your ipod? I have an iPod Classic that I bought two years ago. I bought TV AV Audio Video Cable for Apple iPod Classic. It connects to the iPod at the bottom where you usually put it on the dock. Then I connect the three coloured wires (red, white and yellow) into the place on the TV. When I did it like that I didn't get anything. After that, I read this thing that you're supposed to connect the red wire to the yellow jack and the yellow wire into the white jack and the white wire into the red jack. When I did that I did recieve sound but nothing else. more

I've looked around online, and I am more confused now then when I started. First, I found the Apple AV composite cable, which retails for about $50. I am hesitant to spend so much on it, especially since I read that this is not the only cable that will work with the 5th gen vid ipod, and also it received some bad reviews. Additionally, there seem to be an abundance of inexpensive cables that claim to work with "all ipods" but I am hesitant to purchase one of these, because some of the reviews claim that the picture quality is poor, or that the sound works but not the video. All I want to do is connect my ipod to the TV through the AV input, and watch my video files on the big screen. MOST IMPORTANTLY, I want a cable that will play the videos WITHOUT using the Ipod screen at the same time, because this drains the Ipod battery very quickly. Does this exist? Thanks!!! more

I've had several electronics problems solved on this forum, so I'm hoping for the best with my current puzzler. I live in Germany, so the TV standard is PAL. I set the iPod to PAL and used the supplied cable by connecting the yellow RCA jack to Video on the TV, and the white and red to the left and right audio sockets on the TV. I set the TV to all three AV settings, in turn, and then tried the Video setting. I connected the other end of the cable to the iPod mini jack and turned on the movie. The video played on the iPod but the picture on the TV remained blank. There was no sound. What am I doing wrong? more

Hi all. I bought an 80Gb Ipod Classic last year and wanted to connect it to a TV. So I bought the Apple AV Component Cables from Dick Smith and hooked it all up, but when it comes up on the screen it is divided into two halves. The video plays twice at the same time! the image on the left has a little bit of the far left image cut off and the same goes for the right with the right hand image. I have been to Dick Smith, replaced the cables and still the same thing. I rang Apple and they couldn't help. I took it back to DS and plugged it into their TV's and it worked fine! both ipod and cables! I returned the DS cables and bought them from JB-hi-fi and the colour was better and sound clearer, but still split. Then i rang an IT help place and they had no idea either! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME! I'd expect better from Apple! No-one knows why my 3 TV's at home all come up split but the DS ones are perfect! I really need help! more
