Resolved Question: Zune HD or Ipod Touch 3rd Gen?

I'm looking to get a new MP3 player in the near future and was considering a touch screen one. I'm impressed with both the Zune HD and the Ipod Touch but, can't really make up my mind on which I want. I've owned a 60gb Ipod awhile back and enjoyed it. But after the warranty went the Ipod would not hold a charge. I replaced it with the Zune 80gb. I found it far easier to navigate using the touch pad than with the ipod. I also still have this player and it's still running well. What I want out of my MP3 players is Music and Video. Everything else is a bonus minor compared to the actual media experience. The Zune HD has a sync dock that would allow me to play my music and movies. This is highly attractive to my wants out of a media device. Also, having a remote so I can use it at my leisure. I'm not aware of the Ipod Touch being able to do this but, if I'm wrong please correct me. However, the Zune HD only goes up to 32gb where as the Ipod Touch goes up to 64gb. I never used up all the room in my Zune 80 and I would remove videos I wasn't currently watching. But, having the extra space would be nice. So the Zune HD has what I want and more with add-on accessories. The Ipod has similar features but, no space capacity. Any insight on helping me choose between these two devices would be most welcome. more

Resolved Question: iPod replacement MP3 player recommendations?

I currently have a 5G iPod video, 60GB, and a remote/FM radio accessory, I use it to listen to music (largely with the shuffle feature), audio podcasts, and music videos. It is on its last legs, which I'd like to plan on replacing it, so am looking at possible replacements. Due to Apple's accessory licensing chip in recent models, they are out of the question entirerly. What I need is at least 8GB flash or 30GB HDD. I will accept less flash if it can be upgraded with an SDHC card. I need Shuffle that shuffles just music tracks, less podcasts.I could get an el-cheapo player for podcasts, but I want something decent for music. It must use standard headphones. FM tuner is a must. Timed recording from FM is a plus, but not necessary. I would very much like a wired or wireless remote capability where I can make my own or use an affordable accessory remote. The remote needs to at least play/pause, skip forward/back a track, and volume up/down. Or a player with largish buttons on the front I can run through a case without looking at it. A USB mini connector is preferred to a proprietary connector. Video and photo playback are a plus, but not necessary on a Flash unit Except for the apparent lack of remote, I really like the Creative Zen.As I said, Apple is totally out of the question because of their accessory license chip. If they hadn't require accessory manufacturers buy an Apply license chip, I would consider Apple. Other than the "No Apple" thing, I am quite flexible, so long as I can play my relatively static music collection (which I could whittle down to fit 8GB), with shuffle, and easy access to play/pause, skip track, and volume. more

Voting Question: I need help finding an MP3 player!?

It needs to have at least a 60gb hard drive and a 3inch screen for video. However, I don't want an ipod because all of my music is spread over multiple computers, only one of which has itunes. I do have a Mac and a PC, so it needs to be compatible. Also, I've tried Archos products, but haven't been too impressed by all of the bugs I've encountered. Any advice? more

I am tossing up between buying a Creative Zen Vision: M (60GB) and the new iPod Classic (80GB). Battery life: i've heard of many iPods only lasting a year or less and then dying, is this common? If reports are true the new player can play 30 hours of music on one charge. Though I have always heard that the reported battry life from one charge for ipods is much greater than actually battery life. Is this true, and is it the same for the new iPod? What ACTUAL battery life should be expected? Size and Design: I must say the iPod much outways the Creative Zen. Price: iPod wins The other issue I have is that I own a windows vista computer and I record a lot of TV on my computer that I would like to watch on my player. The Creative seems to win in this respect, unless it wouldn't be too difficult (and free) to convert all my videos (esp. the Media Centre video format (dvr-ms)) to work on the iPod. if there was a perfect mp3/video player? im going to purchase a 30gb player, and im stuck between the ipod video, zune, creative m, and creative w. The only reason im stuck is because they all have different things that i like: ipods are slim (kind of importnat because it will spend time in my pocket), the zunes have a landscape/portrait screen that is bigger than the ipods and have a nice album art feature, the creative m supports many different types of video files and allows for background change, and the creative w has a nice screen. Now the problems : ipods screen is annoying for watching video and has a very boring white background, zune only supports wma video, and both creative products are very thick. Do you know if any company plans on releasing a 30/60GB mp3/video player that is slim, supports many video types (AVI, mpg), allows you too customize the background, and has a nice size screen? Apple Icon on screen. I tried to recharge it lastnight, seemed like that worked. But this morning I tried agian still did not work and the ipod would not show on My Computer or itunes. Ok i need to know what is the BEST portable media player firstly i need alot of memory from like mininum 40 gb but really 60gb to 100gb (i was thinking about video ipod 60gb or that tosihaba one) the toshiba has a fm tuner and u can get tv stuff but im not sure u can connect it. - but i do know if u go to amazon the archos one u can directly connect it to tv and dvd or vhs but i never heard of that brand. - but i like the radio and tv stuff and u no easy to use kind of things so please help me. and thank you if u do. more

I am concidering buying an ipod (specifically the 60GB w/ video) but after reading this article: http://aol.smartmoney.com/10things/index.cfm?story=june2006 I am now unsure. Numbers 3-6 and number 10 were the ones that I'm really concerned about. Is it true you can't put any music on your ipod that is not iTunes (I have mix CDs that I would like to transfer on it)? And is the ipod really worth it? Is there any portable MP3 player that is something like or better than the ipod? The thing is I like the capabilities the ipod has like the video playing, 60 GB, and its color screen. And I also like the way it looks (especially the click wheel). Ok, I like to download music and movies. I also like to have something portable enough for me to bring everywhere. However, even though Ipod is a good product, I think the price is too outrageous for the 60Gb version. I want to have an mp3 player that is affordable, maybe that can also have a different function than just to store music and videos. I like the idea of a PDA but they are limited in storage capacity, if I were to chose a PDA it has to be able to take pictures and video too and large capacity. Can anyone help me? more
