Open Question: Textplus ipod touch question?

So as you may know, there's an app for the ipod touch and iphone called textplus which lets you text for free in the US and I've watched a lot of videos to see that it actually works. But I was wondering if you can store numbers somewhere in the app or if it at least remembers them? And then also, when someone sends back a message to your ipod or iphone, does it say who sent it? Open Question: iPod only shows name in source pane?

Ok it's an iPod touch 3g 8gb I unlocked it with blackra1n. After a while I decided to restore it but I did it on my mates computer not my home one. When I connect is using USB on my windows pc the iPod shows up in the source pane as "ells iPod" but nothing else. No option for music, videos etc so I can't put music on it. And all the while the iTunes status bar shows "accessing iTunes store" but never does cuz my pc upstairs is offline. And for info, it's iTunes 9.0.1 and firmware 3.2.1 (it's the newest stuff anyway) ideas please :)Looked at the link but that's the problem. In the source panel under devices were the iPod shows up it doesn't say anything. My pc upstairs is offline so I can't update it. And in the information window where it shows the summary is just blank and says iPod :/ more

Open Question: I downloaded/purchased a TV episode on Itunes but it won't show up on my itouch 3rd gen?

The first time I agreed to purchase and then download the TV episode it was on my itouch and I watched the entire thing all the way through afterwards. But now when I go to my video section on my itouch it is no where to be found. It is under the "TV" section on itunes on my computer and I have it checked to show up on my ipod. But after that day everytime I synce my ipod it is never put on there. Why? I know it is compatable because I watched the entire episode once it was finished downloading (ON MY ITOUCH). There are also other problems I've noticed. I have to hit the center button really hard now for it to respond. It didn't do that when I first bought it.. Also- sometimes it doesn't respond to what I'm tapping on. I bought it on January 14th this year and the warranty for the store only lasted like 10 days. It was fine until all of this just recently started happening. Do I have a lemon?!! If I do have a lemon what should I do if I spent 25$ to put a invisible shield on the cover? I know apple will probably ask me to send it in or whatever :| I'm so mad. more

Thanks for clicking on this - i hope u can help me! Okay so my ipods been working fine for the last year and there had been nothing wrong with it. But a week or so ago i play my ipod while im in the shower so when i got out a little water dripped on the screen but i wiped it off and it was fine. The screen is not damaged or anything of that sort. So then that same day i went out for a while and was listening to my ipod. After 2 songs (one a music video and the other just a regular song) it froze. I would click on a song and it wouldnt play and then after i would click on the song nothing would come up and then it would let me even scroll around for a song until about 20 minutes later. This happened to my brother and he said it was because of the water so i left mine alone on a shelf to dry off any of the parts that may still be wet but after a week and a half it still was having the same problem. So i went to album covers on my ipod and i would click on one, then on the song, then it would look like it was going to play it but then it would turn all pink and statsicy looking like it would on a tv. (sorry for spelling) So yeah its been almost 3 weeks now and i might take it to the apple store (my ipod is a ipod nano if that helps) and i wanted your guys opinions on what to do with it before i go get it checked out. THANKS SOOOO MUCH!!I know waters a bad idea but i dont have the ipod in the shower its outside in a water proof ihome so i was unplugging it after i dried off and some water from my hair dripped onto the screen. more

ok so here's the 'dilemma': in october 2008, my second generation ipod nano was stolen from the gym locker room. my mom bought me the latest ipod nano at the time (4th gen) to replace it and i LOVED IT! (at the time of course). but now i really really REALLY would like to get the new ipod touch because i love all the apps they offer in the itunes store and how the screen is alot bigger so my movies will be more appealing to watch. the only thing is that my mom wont let me get it, even though i have enough money to buy it. how can i convince her to let me purchase it? btw: my current ipod would go to my brother b/c he wants a new one. my laptop required a new hard drive. on the original hard drive i had my i-tunes for my ipod touch saved onto it. i did not back up my itunes meaning my songs, videos, pictures, etc are only stored on my itouch at this moment in time. if i were to reinstall itunes from the itunes website, and then connect my itouch to my laptop, will this overwrite my itouch meaning all my songs, movies, pictures, etc will be lost forever? more

I have two iTunes accounts an I'm having trouble now! I had one account already and had used it to put songs and videos on my Nano but I forgot the information to use it and so I made a new one. I downloaded some new videos from the iTunes store, but when I try to add them to my playlist it says that it will replace the videos already in the folder, they will be deleted. How do I get it to where I can have them all on there? Is it possible to have certain videos on my iPod and to still keep the videos I downloaded on my PC so I can keep and switch them out every once in a while? THANKS! It says: "In order to copy the selected TV Shows to this iPod, you must link this iPod with this iTunes Library ...." HELP! What do I do to make it where I have all my old videos saved on my PC but not on my iPod for now, but I want to have the new videos on the iPod. Voting Question: My iPod screen turns too light (but it's not a completely white screen).?

It used to be the case that my screen would get really light but not completely white when something dark such as an album artwork would turn up, but ever since a few months ago, its been turning white for videos I can barely watch them now. And ever since I bought an iPod dock, it turns white on every album artwork and video. The audio still plays and I've tried restarting it multiple times. Is there anyway to fix it before I head to my nearest Apple store?Even at the darkest setting (which is what I usually use) the screen gets too bright. This is a 4th generation nano. more

So I have an iPod touch. I just got a new laptop and decided I wanted to transfer my iTunes from my desktop to my new laptop. So I downloaded iTunes onto my laptop and hit "transfer purchases." When I clicked that, a window came up saying that I wasn't authorized to do that and I needed to authorize my computer first. So I went to Store>Authorize computer, typed in my password, and tried again. The same window came up, but now I have no songs or videos on my iPod. I had over 1,000. I think it erased them. Alright so I just got a buncha movies on my ipod. I also bought a TV to Mp3 AV A/V VIdeo Cable Cord to watch my movies on my tv. it works great, but the wire that i bought doesn't charge my ipod while i watch the movies. I can only watch movies as long as my batter life is. The cord I have plugs into the bottom of my ipod and then into my tv. So is there any way to charge my ipod? i.e a charger that charges through your headphone jack if thats possible or like a charger that still gives you that plug in the bottom of your ipod? Idk i just don't want to have to waste $50 at the apple store for one of their fancy tv TV to Mp3 video cords that charges your ipod when i already have one ya know. any helps appreciated. thanks! more

So about two months ago I broke my LG Shine, and I haven't gotten a new phone yet. Since my Birthday's coming up, I'm going to get one. But I have no clue which one to get. I have an 80GB iPod video silver (don't see why the colour is of any importance), and my iTunes won't recognize it. Its not the version of iTunes, as I update it everytime an update is available. And I won't reboot my computer, as there is a problem inside the iPod. There is an Apple store near my house, where they can send it away, but I want to see if there is any help on the internet first. Resolved Question: my ipod can't take videos from two computers? what's going on?

so i just got a new computer recently, and before, all my itunes stuff (music, videos, etc.) was on the first comp. i had everything on an external harddrive and i transferred everything on the harddrive onto my new computer. everything worked fine! only i just realized...that one of my movies (mean girls ;D) (downloaded legally from itunes and everything) didnt transfer! but it was still on my ipod. then, i got a new video from the itunes store and was syncing it to my ipod, but it said "your ipod is [connected, has an account with, is synced, something like that i don't remember exactly what it said] with another computer (delllaptop, my OLD computer). by transfering this new video, "mean girls" will be deleted off your ipod". or something like that, that was basically what it was saying. i clicked continue (because i thought there would be more steps) and the new vid synced but sure enough mean girls was gone!! so i connected my ipod to my old comp and re-synced mean girls (b/c i want that more than the new one on my ipod), but it said, to sync mean girls, the OTHER, new vid would be deleted!!! im sorry if that was confusing...please please please answer if you can, and if you don't understand you can ask and i'll clarify in Additional details! what is going on? Resolved Question: Brand new video ipod Nano stuck on apple screen?

So I've read almost every post there is to read about resetting your ipod. I've put it in Disk Mode, held down the Menu/Select buttons, reset it, toggled the hold button, let it die all the way then charge it again, disconnected and reconnected to my mac, and it still won't come off the apple logo. It's brand new, so there's no way its like, broken. I've downloaded music onto it once and took a video. Next time I tried to charge it, the apple screen just didn't go away. Any suggestions? Then i tried getting on the internet/safari... and its not working? it keeps saying connecting... i know its not my wifi connection, because before i downloaded the update i was on the internet/safari... (it wouldnt let me download any apps from app store [the free ones] unless i update to 3.1).... i think i have a 1g ipod? not sure how you can tell... all i really know is that its 8gb lol. (i dont need to know how to tell wether its a 1g/2g.... i just need my internet on here fixed!!) when it asked which version (1g/2g..) i selected the 1g 3.1 or whatever to download.... could i have possibly selected the wrong one? i really doubt that this ipod is a 2g+ thanks. more

Resolved Question: Should I buy an iPod Touch?

I've had my 5th gen iPod Video about 3 years now and I think it's time for an upgrade. A few of my friends have the iPod Touch and I think it's really cool, I like the touch screen, the app store, Safari, etc. The only thing I'm worried about is that Apple is going to release an even better one again in September (which you know they will) and make mine obsolete right away. Does anybody have ideas of what they're going to do with the 4th gen iPod Touch? So given that information, do you think it's a good idea to pick up an iPod Touch at the moment? more

Voting Question: External Hardrive question - (sorry, duplicate question; marked 'undecided' by mistake)?

Okay this may be long if this window allows but here it goes...I bought an external hard drive (1TB) as opposed to a larger hard drive for my laptop. I wanted to open some of my space; when I originally bought this computer, I had told the salesperson that I would not use it for much more than online gaming and school however, I have since then changed LOL. I do save school work to my external hard drive and I know about saving pictures and etc. I have started doing a lot with music and family pictures and transferring these pictures - I figured removing these pictures and music from my drive would allow for a significant amount of space however, I'm not sure what I was thinking or what field I was lost in but it did not make much difference because even before I would store them on flash drive - therefore, pics and music were not the issue - as for music, I put that immediately on my iPod and delete it; I think iTunes keeps track of your purchases anyway...well instead of babbling my first question is can I move larger files to the external hard drive like Officer, Nero, CD games I bought, etc.. I read somewhere that you cannot move anything that takes an installation or uninstall to an external hard drive - is this true because it will not function properly or is this true because it would be annoying to have to connect and disconnect the external hard drive all the time to a laptop? lol In addition to this question, my other question is I have also read that when you move these programs to an external hard drive they will not function on any other computer...is this true? Because, as you can guess, I am looking into purchasing a laptop with a larger hard drive and this one is 4 or 5 years old anyway! Now-a-days, you can even recycle and get a credit for a used computer...but even still I have to wait just a little longer to purchase a descent one - which can be 'pricey' if I need one with a good-sized hard drive, not to mention, I'm procrastinating incase I need to purchase all this software over again. I have purchased, Nero, Microsoft Office, numerous CD games, Adobe & Adobe Photo shop, and so much more...I bet added all together this would add up to three times more than the computers we do have. (Youngest has a desktop, oldest a laptop, myself - a laptop) anyway, I have quite a bit of money invested in programs alone on this laptop. I have a total of 73gb on the hard drive with 11.5gb left. I know this all might sound confusing - I'm hoping not, but I did want to put down even the 'babbling' because I want to make sure my question and intentions are very clear. I have taught myself a lot on the computer however, I sure as heck am not as technically savy as I'd like to be...matter of fact, this is how I pretty much learn what I do know - searching, questions, demonstration videos, etc. I'm thinking, 11gb is still a good amount of space however, the comp runs slow sometimes and I'm not sure if that's because of the amount of space left or the age of the computer. I did put in more RAM memory...originally had 256, now has 1.5 GB (lol another investment, not much but still additional money to keep me wondering if I should continue to use this or move on) more

Right now i own a nano chromatic *not the video one* and i've only had it for like 7-8 months. I now really want an ipod touch for the apps, music, videos, large screen, internet, etc. If i traded in my nano at the apple store it says i would get 10% off my next purchase making the ipod touch 3rd generation 8 GB $180. I recently had this problem with my iPod Touch 8g (I got it on christmas, so it isn't that old.) I got this one to replace the old one i had (same model, everything worked fine until the motherboard snapped in half and wouldn't work) and my dad got an Apple Care thing that works for three years (my dad told me that it would repair any type of problem on the ipod, unless it was completely broken OR had been jail-broken) just in case anything of the sort happened again. So, yesterday, I was going to sync my old apps and music with my new ipod. I synced old photos, videos, music, and apps. I did not sync any movies, and my iPod didn't have maximum captivity. So I was all happy because all of my settings were back to the way they were. I wanted to try out a new app that I had bought. I tapped it, it opened for about 2 seconds, then it went back to the home screen. I was confused, thinking that it was only with that app. I deleted it, re-installed it, and the same thing happened. I thought that only that app had the problem, so I tried an app that I had recently recovered from my old ipod. (NOTE: My old iPod did not have any TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES, it just broke from a horrible fall down the stairs.) The same thing happened. I tried with an app that I had before, and guess what happened-- it wouldn't open. I got frustrated, especially because it was new and there was nothing wrong with it the same afternoon. I moved back all my information to my computer (which has plenty of space on it) and restored it. moved one app over to my ipod and tried it. It wouldn't open. So I deleted all of my apps, and tried it on the ones that came with the iPod (calendar, mail, contacts, clock, safari, youtube, and notes.) That worked fine. I could access Safari, and do all of the crap that nobody really does. Is there any way to fix this without going all the way to the Apple store and having them fix it for you? Also, it the number of Gs on it the problem?When you say "reset" does that mean turning it off? more
