In other words, can I make my iPhone function like it does in an iPhone 3GS dock when it is connected to a fm transmitter? or old ipod dock? (i.e. is there an installable option to force the iPhone to always use the built-in iPhone speakers for sound output?) I have an old iPod video dock and would like my iPhone 3GS to still make all sounds (keyboard clicks, music, etc...) through the built-in speakers like it does when placed on the iPhone 3G or 3GS dock. Right now only calls and texts make sounds (everything else seems routed through the dock as if I had it plugged into a stereo). Is there a application on cydia or elsewhere to enable this? Or can I mod my old iPod dock into making my iPhone 3GS think that it is an iPhone dock? I am trying to get my iPhone 3GS to dock without having to take off the case. Resolved Question: How can i fix my 30gb iPod Video?

I have a 30gb iPod video that i bought in Jan/Feb of 2006. I bought an iSkin protective case for it the same day and it has only been out of that case a few times for cleaning of the case so it has been very well kept. Recently when i attempted to use the iPod it wouldn't output sound. All of the menus work correctly and when i pick a track the play icon shows in the top left corner, but no sound is output through the headphone jack or charging dock (when i have it plugged in to my fm radio transmitter) I checked the volume and other obvious settings and the problem persisted. I tried resetting it, trying it with other headphones, speakers and transmitters and still the same problem continued. After the frustration that this caused i eventually resorted to hitting the iPod which unexpectedly made it work briefly, but with some intermittent static/cutting out. This method only worked twice and hasn't worked since the day it broke. So my question is; has anyone heard of this problem and does anyone know of a cheap or quick fix to it? I'm well past my warranty and so i figure that I've got nothing to loose so i might as well try to fix it myself. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated. more

Voting Question: How can I still listen to my ipod classic while it is plugged into the wall to charge?

I want to use my ipod while it is plugged into a wall charger but the screen shows "connected -Eject before disconnecting." Because it is plugged into the wall, I don't have access to itunes to use the eject function. There must be a way to use it while it's being charged, especially with all the car charger/radio transmitters on the market. The model of ipod I have is the 120 GB ipod classic(video). Last Christmas, when I drove to my mom's house, I used my 5th generation video ipod (bought in 2006, no warranty at this point) in a Belkin Tunebase FM fm transmitter for entertainment as I drove. It worked fine. Since I got back, though, my iPod won't turn on. I took it to the Apple store, where he said: 1. the battery was completely drained and 2. the iPod won't recognize the usb cable to recharge it. He said he used one of their charging cables to get it to boot up, but he said I won't be able to use a usb cable with it to transfer songs from my PC or to charge the battery. He said all I could do was buy a new one. So, now I have a very expensive paperweight and it makes me mad. Since it's already toast, is there anything I can do? I tried resetting it, but the battery is still drained. I can't get it charged up at all. Since I've accepted the ultimate outcome that I will probably have to get a new one, I have no problem with doing things like opening it and tinkering with it or strapping it to a gerbil wheel to power it that way. I recently bought a 32 gig 2nd Gen iPod Touch, it has the 3.0 software update, if that means anything to you. I've always been able to play music through my Nano in the car using an FM Transmitter. I tried doing the same on my Touch but there seems to be a lot of interference everything fuzzy and I can barely hear the music at all over the buzzing when turned up loud. It works fine when I'm playing a video through it clear as day. I've tried switching the numbers and moving it around amongst other stupid suggestions from my mates but nothing seems to work. Is there something I'm missing? Or is the answer right in front of me and I'm generally just being a bit thick?? Any help or suggestions would be fantastic. more

Voting Question: How to fix a car's loose DC / accessory outlet?

I use my car's accessory outlet to play / charge my iPod off an FM transmitter. But recently, the iPod randomly cuts out (automatically pauses when the power turns off, so it would just stop whenever I hit a bump no matter how small). I've found that if I pull the transmitter dock towards me and hold it there while driving, the power does not get cut on the outlet, so it's definitely not a fuse issue. To test this theory, I unplugged the FM transmitter, and noticed that I could jiggle the outlet forward and backward. Any ideas on how I can keep the outlet still / hold it in position? I can shoot a quick little video of how it jiggles / what it looks like, if necessary. more

Okay, so I really want to buy a pair of wireless headphones to use with my laptop, flatscreen TV and iPod. The iPod will be mostly music, and the TV/Laptop will be mostly videos/movies. These three are in different rooms, and I have no idea how wireless headphones work exactly. Is there a transmitter that can simply be placed into the audio jack? My real dilemma is cash. i dont want to spend over $50 if possible (I'm fairly short on cash). I'm thinking of getting a bluetooth jabra, but I'm not sure if that will work with a device that doesnt have bluetooth. It seems like now I dont find out about songs that come out anymore, because I never expose myself to new music. When Im in the car I always use my FM transmitter for my ipod. I dont ever watch music videos anymore, so now it seems that a song will come out and people will be singing it and when I say I havnt heard it theyre shocked. Does this happen to anyone else? more

Resolved Question: iPod video turns off by itself after playing 5 - 6 songs?

My iPod video turns off by itself after playing songs for like 15 - 20 mins? This is new and I have just recently discovered it. The first time this happened was like 2 - 3 days ago when I unplugged it from my "Kensington iPod FM transmitter for car", as soon as I unplugged it, it turned off. Then the second time was the same night when I just plugged it in to load a song on it. I unplugged it and started listening to the song and that time it lasted only for 2 mins and 15 seconds. Today it happened for the third time and this time it lasted for about 20 mins. Currently I'm playing it on my iPod dock (which is supplying power to it) and it is working just fine. Been playing for like 40 mins now without any trouble. Is it some other problem or the nightmare has come true where I have to get the battery replaced? Will restoring it help in case there's some problem with the software?? Cheers! more

Basically, I have an ipod video 5th gen, that for some time has been able to play songs, but when listening to the songs via headphone, or via the port at the bottom, through my FM transmitter, the sound does not come out. The only way I can get my ipod to play songs is if I access it through itunes, which sort of defeats the purpose of having a mobile song player. Anyway, since everything else works just fine, and since the sound only comes through itunes, I am thinking that itunes does the decoding itself, so the audio decoder chip in the ipod probably went bad..and so this would then entail replacing the whole logic board...which I would rather not do. If my diagnosis seems correct or incorrect, please let me know...one way another. Many thanks in advance to all who offer their help.I've already done the reset, and the factory reset, which deleted all of my songs...so I don't think anything simple like that is going to solve this more

I have tried simply converting the 1/32 inch jack to the 1/8 inch and plugging it to my ipod and that did not work. Ok , i have a 4 GB i Pod Nano and i had about only 400 hundred songs and a couple of videos . Well the last time i was using it ,it was in my car .I have a ..(it called a tunebase FM transmitter ) were i can charge my i Pod and im able also to listen to it in my car. When i arrived home i wanted to listen to my songs again and there was nothing .it wouldnt play.so i restarted it by pressing the middle button(select)+ the menu button and waited until it turned off and restarted. when it did it was to my surprise that my iPod was not reading my songs because the memory said that i have 400 songs but when i go to my videos and songs it says that i have zero songs T.T.. i tried everything i even charged it all the way . I have a book of CDs that I carry back and forth from my car to my office and back every night. I would like to streamline this process. I have an mp3 player for the gym that is tiny and suits me wonderfully. I don't really plan on using the video options, but it might be cool for roadtrips. Ideally I'd just like something that holds all my music, can easily navigate and will shuffle the stuff. The wi-fi and syncing and all that stuff isn't that important to me.
