Okay, I bought the latest version of SWBFII (Not sure which it is. The one that the crack file on the internet is actually a virus) and I'm having a little trouble with it. I'm able to get to the main menu, and all that kind of stuff, but when I actually attempt to play a level, the game quits itself without even giving a warning message. I've attempted dumbing down the graphics, playing from the actual game (bypassing the launcher that demands you have the DVD in for playing) and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I don't believe that my laptop's hardware is too low for it, as my brother's is the same, only with a weaker processor. But I make software, I just use it. Open Question: Audio problems with new update on Windows 7?

I noticed after installing an update on my computer any audio my computer played sounds patchy and was slightly slower. The updates were - (Important) Update for Windows 7 (KB976662) Update for Windows 7 (KB979306) (Recommended) Cumulative Update for Media Center for Windows 7 (KB977863) Update for Windows 7 (KB 976264) (I figure that the part at the end is how big the update is.) My computer had to restart to install these updates but after open Itunes up and selected a song to play I noticed it was patchy as if my speakers on my laptop were messed up. Well then I opened up Windows media player to see if it wasn't just Itunes and it did the same thing. So from there I went and got ear phones and plugged them in, even with those there was still a patchy sound. Any idea's on how to fix it? more

Open Question: How do I get into my laptop's HD to back up my files if I can't boot it?

For the computer experts on here: I keep getting a blue screen of death error every time it tries to boot Windows. I want to try reinstalling the system from the restore CDs, but I need to copy all my files first so I don't lose data. I have an external hard drive and another laptop. What's the easiest way to get into the HD to make a backup of all the files? Oh, and the CD drive in this laptop is broken, so I use an external USB CD drive. Do you know if the laptop will be able to read or use any CDs from the external drive with Windows not working? Any help will be greatly appreciated. I'd rather be able to fix this myself, as I don't have hundreds of $$$$$ right now to pay a repair place to do it, (yet again....) more

Open Question: Question about Laptop?

Normally, when you close the lid of the laptop, your computer goes into a lower power state (sleep mode) When you press the power button, it hibernates or shuts down. My laptop doesn't do these things. Ever since I got my laptop back from a previous repair of the heating pad, it hasn't been doing these things. I went to the control panel and went to change battery settings and selected "Choose what closing the lid does" Everything was the way I wanted it to be. I clicked Save changes and then I went and tested it out. When I close the lid, my laptop was still on. When I press the power button, it does nothing. The only way to get my laptop to shut down, hibernate, sleep, etc. is if I go to the start menu and click on the actions. What's wrong? Also, when your computer goes in a phase where the screen is pitch black while the power button is slowly blinking, all you do is touch the mouse pad and then it will turn back on. Mine doesn't do that. How do you fix it? more

Laptop LCD screen scrambles, horizontal lines, when there is dark colors dominating display.Appears to radiate out from middle line of screen. I can turn up brightness and gamma and turn down contrast to help but would prefer a permanent fix. I have hooked up to external monitor and have no issues that way. All drivers up to date. more

Open Question: My DVD/CD Drive is not working. Whats Wrong?

Recently my DVD/CD Drive is not working. It wont read any CD's and when I click on the drive in My Computer its says Application Not Found. Ive gone to Device manager and there is something there under the DVD/CD Drive section. (NN3330K BN0521P SCSI Cdrom Device). My computer is an Acer Extensa 4420 (laptop) and I have the basic Windows Vista. I have looked online and cant find anything. I tried going to Regedit and all that through H-Key and deleting Upper and lower Filters with no luck. Also I would scan for Hardware Changes in Device Manager and occassionally a new item would come up under the DVD/CD Drive section. (HL-DT-DVDRAM GSA-T20N ATA DEVICE) When this came up my dvd's would work but temporarily the movie would all of the sudden stop playing and my dvd player (Cyberlink) would crash and then the new drive item would be gone. Now that other drive is no longer coming up. I have tried unistalling and reisntalling the drive numerous times. I also tried fixing the problem through DriverMax but found nothing relating to the DVD Drive there. Please help. Thanx. Also I cant afford to take it into a repair shop. If I upgrade to Windows 7 would that resolve the issue? Also if I do upgrade will I lose all my stuff? (data, game downloads etc) more

Alittle while ago i deleted alot of programs from my laptop to make more space not know what they were and now my speakers on my computer dont work for things such as movie or music except they will work if i click on something im not supposed to and make a beeping noise. It is very frustrating and i know that my computer is not on mute and i went to the control panel and looked at sound and speech and when i go to sound i am not able to click on anything, all the choices are shaded. Open Question: anti virus xp 2010 infection on dell laptop?

I had anti virus xp 2010 infect my computer. I ran malwarebytes anti malware and spyware doctor. I believe that i got rid of the infection. But now none of my programs will open. for example when i click on internet explorer i get an open with window. it does this for ever program i open. i cannot even open add/remove programs window. do not know if a clean install of windows will fix this or is there something easier. websites with step by step would help more

I'm going to try to post as much info as i can. so i have a Belkin G+ Mimo router and it has worked fine for years. i have been connecting to Xbox Live through wireless to my laptop to an ethernet cable right to my xbox. recently, (like a week ago) i have terrible connection, i can't even stay in a party for more than 5 minutes, and i have no clue why. i've tried resetting my router, turning everything off and on, it seems like nothing is working. Open Question: My laptop won't play CD's...?

My laptop is not working when it comes to playing CD's. It used to work, but now it doesn't. The CD is new and perfectly clean. There is no physical problems with it. I fixed it once and it worked, but now it isn't anymore. When I go to my computer and then click on the cd drives, it doesn't even say anything is in there, but it does detect a drive. I have windows vista if it matters...if you need any more details I will add them. sorry if I sounded kind of vague. more

The card says microSD not SDHC. That isn't the problem. It's a 2GB card that I just bought. I formatted it on the cell phone but it's not working in my computer slot. ok i last talked to you when i was in a cave right. So i called up my friend on my built in computer phone and he said well i reccomend you stay there and see what happens. Soo uh yeha thats what i did. After about 10 minutes of waiting for something to happen, i finaly got my results. A man with a beard came up to me and took my laptop. He threw it at the ground. Your probably wondering then well how am i writing this? Ill tell u later. So then i was all like yo wtf man and he laughed and kicked me in the stomach. I coughed out some blood. And then some poop. You dont wanna know what happened next. But ill tel you. He sneezed and then he took the snot out of his nose and then pissed in it and then put it in a cup and then pooped in it and stirred it. He then forced it into my mouth. Like ferreal? I had no choice. I drunk it. It tasted salty. It tasted like nurse. I threw up. You guys think anything will happen? im pretty scared in this dark cave.. He left about 5 minutes after that. I think he comited suicide cuz i heard a shotgun and a scream. His scream. Oh yeah i fixed the laptop becuz there were some tools in his work area. I had vista guardian 2010 on my computer a couple of days ago, and I finally got it cleared up, but now my laptop is throwing a temper tantrum. Whenever I attempt to open a file or start a program, I get a notification that says "application not found". I even tried locating the files on the disk and running them as an admin, but I then got a notification that said "___ is not a valid win32 application". When I try to open other programs, I get an 'open with:' window, but it is a .exe file. Firefox worked, but I had to start it from the Internet icon on the start menu. Am I royally fucked, or is there a way to fix every program on my computer? more

Open Question: How do I Install an OS on a laptop without a disk drive?

My mom got a virus on her computer and she stole mine until I fix her computer. Well it would be a simple task to just format and reinstall XP on her laptop however, nothing can ever be that simple. The thing with her laptop is that it has a disk drive, but it refuses to read any CDs I put in it. So what I was thinking was if I install XP on a separate partition would I be able to format one of the partitions, and just boot the OS from the new Partition while still using the old one for storage ect.? Sorry if this doesn't make sense.I have a .iso of XP on the laptop as well as a CD with XP on it. more

Open Question: computer failure help on what is wrong?

its a dell xp. started freezing a lot at random times for the past many months. comp tech came out and tried to fix it but was unable for some reason. i guy my mom knows who know A LOT about computers gave her some special protection thing. she installed it on one laptop and then was going to do it on our desktop (the one that froze). when on the laptop, it found many viruses avg never had found and got rid of them all. he said to unplug the network cable, uninstall avg free, then install the newer better protection. she uninstalled avg and like always, the comp froze just like it does a lot. restarted it like we always have to do and tried to turn it back on but does not do anything. why is it not turning on??? nothing happens at all. we unpluged all cables and cords and did nothing. what is wrong? more

Open Question: What is wrong with my laptop?

Ok so I have a Dell Inspiron 14. Maybe about 5 days ago when I turned it on the normally black screen would be red and the pretty blue screen where I type my password would have streaks of pink, but if when I tilted the screen back slightly the strange coloring would go back to normal. About 3 days ago that wouldn't work, but once I got logged in the screen returned to normal. Then, maybe 2 days ago the previous problem was the same, but once I'm logged in my desktop picture and all my pop-ups (internet pages) where all reddish. I could still see everything and it still worked the same, but the coloring is all off. Like there would be patches of red around all the pictures and stuff like that. It was really annoying. Now just this morning when I turn my computer on it doesn't work, the 'on' button lights up, but it never gets to the log-in page. The screen stays this pale bluish (mostly white though) color and is like that until I finally just turn it off again. So does anybody have any idea what is wrong with it or how it can be fixed? I'm really freaked out, its pretty new and I need it for school a lot. If you have questions feel free to e-mail me, I'm desperate to know what the problem is. more

ok I have a used laptop, just got it, put in the password for our lynksys system, and it wont work. It says it's connected, but all i get is 'internet explorer cannot display the webpage'. i've tried unplugging, turning things on and off, refreshing, i'm not set to 'work offline', and it still wont connect. the only thing i can think might be wrong is that it says 'network area cable is unplugged', but i dont know how to fix it or what it even means. so, help? more

ok, so i have an acer aspire one laptop. i keep it on my comp. desk in my room. but when i woke up this morning, i noticed that my cat had spilled over my water cup and some of it got under the comp. i hurried, and dried the computer off, and put a towel under it before i went to school. it wasnt that much water. when i came home from school, i went to go check on it. i pressed on the power button, and the comp started to come on. the screen remained black (it does that sometimes) so i held down the power button for like 20 seconds, until the comp shut off. but when i tried to turn it back on, it wouldnt come on. i plugged the battery cord in, and the light that tells me its plugged in came on, but nothing else is coming on. did i hold the power button down too long? is there any way we can fix it???? the laptop is only a couple months old. PLZ HELP ME!!!!!! CAN U EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT TO DO????? I NEEED HELP! =( more

Open Question: I have a torrent thats almost done downloading, but suddenly it stopped.. suggestions?

Okay, I waited for like a day until it got to 91.8%, and I had to pause it to shut my laptop off for the night. So the next day when I went to it again, it didn't download anymore at all. It was pretty healthy and all, but it won't go above that number...anything I can try to do to fix that? I was trying so hard to find it, and when I did, it just stopped. T_T I use BitTorrent by the way, if that makes a difference.Oh, and before you suggest - right click on the torrent and click Start, already tried that. It's not on pause, its just not downloading.
