I did some research, and even though I never wanted another HP system since my last HP laptop died on me after only a year and no abuse whatsoever, this HP Elite HPE-170f seems to be one of the best on the market right now. It has everything I need for a super gaming system and seems to have one of the most reasonable prices. Okay. I am in freshman year in high school, and I'm saving up for a laptop. I was trying to choose between a wide variety on laptops, including the Apple MacBook, Apple MacBook Pro (13 inch preferable), Dell Studio 15, Dell Studio 17 and an entry level Dell Alienware M15x. There are many advantages and disadvantages to each of these laptops, and I can't choose which one is the best for me. My father gets a 20 percent discount on all Dell computers as well! The instructions for my new acer laptop says to take out the battery once it hits 100%, but this article says: "Leave your battery in your laptop. Open Question: Will Dell replace my motherboard - under warranty?

Hi, I have been doing a bit of searching on the internet and it seems that most people who own a Dell laptop and it is under warranty are able to get them to replace their motherboard without much of a fuss. I have a Dell XPS M1730 and it just shut down and would not start up again, so I took it to my computer shop and they have told me that it is most likely the motherboard but there is a small chance it could be a problem with the graphics card. My laptop is not under warranty now, but it would be cheaper for me to get it renewed and get them to sort it out than buy I new motherboard. But I just wanted to check before paying the £100 (for a year) to renew my warranty that Dell will sort it out. Would they refuse to replace the motherboard for any reason (apart from it not beinng under warranty of course)? more

So I have Windows 7 for my laptop, but back when I used my computer I had Windows Vista and I was able to use Adobe Photoshop CS. My current home computer has Windows XP for an operating System. I know that some people say that ANY Windows system will work, with my files. I say that thids is "Phony-Balony". I have tried disks, recorded on Windows 95, 98, 98(se), 2000, NT, and so on. No operating system will read recordings not made on that exact system. This is why I need a recommendation on where to find a cheap laptop computer. I dont need net access, bi-lingual, etc. All I need is a machine which operates on Windows XP, and has drives, for floppy disks (if possible), and a CD - DVD reader/driver/burner. I also need a machine which uses WordPad, for Word Processing. Thats what I am using, now, and I know it will only work with other wordpad software. If you jump onto an unsecured internet connection with your laptop (ie too cheap to pay for an internet connection and your neighbor didn't bother to secure their wifi), are the things you searched for traceable back to you some how even though you don't technically have an internet account? I need a new laptop for college, after my Compaq F500 broke down and I sued HP and received a cash reward... (i don't blame hp, I blame nvidia) However, this has left me looking for a new laptop. I am not about aesthetics at all. The laptop could be bright green and pink and I would not care at all. I do build computers however so I know what to look for in a laptop... But I am having trouble finding the right one >_<! Budget limit is $600 The laptop needs to weigh less than 5.5lbs. Core Duo or X2 is a must. Windows OSes, XP or 7. Vista will be downgraded to XP. Screen size is preferred at 14.1" and less - unless there is a thin and light 15.4/15.6" out there. This laptop will not be used for any games. I built a quadcore computer with radeon 4850 for that... Hard drive size does not matter. 40GB and up. I have 2TB of storage on my desktop. So far I am looking at a refurbished Lenovo/IBM T60 Thinkpad... The Toshiba T135D i had in mind is a no-no, since the reviews were really mixed and people complained of excessive heat and a plastic y cheap feel.I dont want to deal with HP again... I mean, I did end up suing them. Toshiba's laptop feel cheap. Tehir quality has really gone down. more

right now im working on a very old desktop computer. in a week or so im getting a laptop in the mail. i want to be able to export all of my files from desktop to my new laptop because i have a lot of music, movies and work that i need to keep. what is the easiest way to do this? if i go to best buy or comp usa and buy a usb to usb cable, connect them and click and drag the files would that work? is there any better way to do this??? more

I'm going to buy a laptop but still haven't choose specific laptop that I will purchase. I'll use the laptop for heavy-kind of programs such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Corel Paint. I'll have much internet activity too and I think I need Wi-Fi service and connections to other computer or printer or any other media included. I won't weigh on sound performance as long as the sound is clear when it comes to play music. I would like my laptop to have high performance and I heard HP and Dell are good options. My budget is around 600US$ but cheaper is better :D more

I do not understand what the difference is between these laptops. My laptop just recently wouldn't turn on and when we took it to a computer technician he said that the motherboard died. He said it would cost $300 to get a new one. I'm not sure exactly what model it is it's an HP it's a smaller one, it's 13 inches and was around $500 but does not have a disk drive. I know that most MP3 players come with a disk to be set up on your computer. Preferably something cheap as well! Thanks more
