So I want to buy a business Notebook. It's moslty going to be used for work related programs and surfing, but also some lightweight gaming with newer games. All in all fast is the keyword here. I've been looking at all kinds of laptops, from HP, Asus, Dell, Sony Vaio, but I don't really understand wtf they mean with all the specifications and what's good and not. Open Question: Dell Notebooks: New Inspiron 1564 VS Studio 15?

I am looking for a dell laptop 15.6" display and the new i3 processor. I was always told the Studio line 15" is better than the inspiron. But what I noticed is this. Inspiron 1564 weighs 5.44lbs and is 1.29" - .79" thick. Has everything but backlit keyboard. Studio 15 weighs in 5.54lbs and is 1.5" to 1" Thick. Did they update the inspiron and then they will be waiting to do that to the studio in a couople of months. I would like to have the thinest and lightest 15" laptop that has the best screen. I've recently decided to pursue a career in special effects and that means I will be using many adobe programs(premiere, soundbooth, photoshop etc).I need a laptop to suite my needs and one that is not over priced and still great in performance. One that will be able to run HD videos and what not and be able to run adobe programs but i also play some videogames in my spare time so I also need it to be able to play some games like Mass Effect 2 at moderate graphics, enough to make it a good experience. Open Question: Laptop doesn't turn on, it shuts itself off before the vista loading screen.?

I have an HP limited edition pavilion notebook that was bought about a year and a half ago, not even. When I go to turn it on all the lights come on to signify it's on, the fan comes on also. But the screen stays black. It will seem to try and start up for about 30 seconds, shuts down and then starts back up on it's own, then do that same thing over and over. Yesterday I got it to turn on after it did that for about 10 minutes almost. Is this maybe a fixable issue or maybe I just need to replace a part? Open Question: HP mini 210-1010 notebook help!!!!!?

I turned my computer sideways and the screen adjust to the way I had it. Sort of like an iphone. Is it suppose to do this? If so how can I change it back? or do I need to call HP for help? I've tried to restart it and I've tried to turn it back the original way a laptop is suppose to be also I've tried it upside down to see if it would change. I can use it sideways. Open Question: Trying to decide between a Dell Inspiron 15 and a Toshiba Satellite L500?

My previous computer just died (a Compaq Presario) and it gave me a ton of problems. I'm trying to decide between these two computers because they seem to be good models for about $400. My Compaq gave me a ton of hardware issues (the DC power jack failed, it got so hot that it melted 4 charging cords, etc) and I want a laptop that doesn't suffer from similar hardware issues. Could someone with either of these laptops tell me your thoughts on it? Are there any hardware or other problems that you have had problems with? Additionally, which of these two would you recommend? Primarily I'll be using the computer for school work and watching videos. The DVD burner is also important for me. I have an external webcam, so the fact that these laptops have webcams as an option is not really a concern. I have an HP G60 notebook, and it hasn't given me any problems until now. I haven't dropped anything on it, though I have dropped it once. But recently the sound is just acting up. It will come on sometimes, when im using either the internal or external speakers that I have, but now the sound doesn't want to come on with either one. Open Question: I'm having a problem with some Firefox Plug-Ins.?

Hello, there. I'm currently using Firefox 3.6 on my laptop. I went to check on my Plug-In's to make sure that it was up to date, & there were at least two of them that are outdated. They are called "Shockwave For Director," & "MetaStream 3 Plugin." I went to MetaStream 3 Plugin & clicked on where it said "Update," then it took me to where it said "Viewpoint Media Player." I tried to download the player, then it told to me to download it in which it is required. I downloaded it, & it went into the Download section. When I check back through my plug-in page, it didn't work. It still said the word "update". Then I also went into Shockwave For Director, & it took me to the Adobe Shockwave Player page, & then I tried to install it. Same thing happened, it went into the download section after I have installed it, & guess what, it still said "Update" when I went to check back up on my plug-in check up. :( This is irritating. Can't there anything be done? Also, whenever I'm watching some videos, there seems to be some lag going on whenever I'm watching a video on some places like Youtube, Game Anyone, etc (it keeps freezing up for a few seconds, then it skips a little, even when I switch to the 720p scaler). Hubby is buying me a notebook for my birthday and it says it comes with Windows 7 starter. What exactly does that mean? Also, what kind of router would we need? I already had an HP Photosmart c8100 all in one series printer.... (which we used on his old toshiba laptop and I still use on my toshiba laptop) both are wireless.... but i cannot connect the two because my HP printer says it is for windows 2000, xp and vista (which is fine for my laptop and the laptop my son had previously) the new laptop has windows 7 is there a way around this....... surly there must be some way to connect these.... the hp printer is only about a yr and 1/2 old and works great.... i cannot aford to buy a new printer after buying my son this new laptop... any advise beside a new printer? thank you more

I'm going to be entering college and I really just want a low maintenance computer that will last me 4+ years. However if the SSD RAID 0 configuration which doesn't work with TRIM kills my laptop within a year its going to be useless to me.
