Open Question: 'There is a problem with your sound card'. What to do?

Hello people of Yahoo Answers. Does anyone know the correct course of action to switch the sound of my laptop back on? This morning, an alert from Spotify came up saying ‘There is a problem with your sound card’. This meant no sound from the songs playing came from my laptop. I then found out that all other sounds do not work, eg Youtube, mouse clicks, Skype and so forth. I have an Acer Aspire laptop, with Windows Vista. I have never had any problems with my sound before, however could it be something to do with Spotify, which I have recently put on my computer. I have also recently had problems with my webcam in case this is somehow related. Thank you in advance for your advice and assistance. more

Voting Question: how to get rid of static noise?

i just bought a new laptop the problem is when i connect my speakers to it, i hear static sound , and its kinda annoying when i wanna watch a movie or listen to music loudly there is no problem with my speakers, because i connected them to my phone and my old laptop and my mums computer and there were no static noise. also i connected my phones headphones to my laptop, i had the static noise again! :( maybe something wrong with my laptop or the leed, my sound card out put ( i mean the whole ) is not green, its black, and my laptop is a sony vaio vpceb1e0e if u need more information let me know, thanks :)lol what! i dont think that might help anyway i got tune up utilities installed so thats not the problem thanks any way :) more

I'm trying to troubleshoot my ASUS G71GX notebook for use with Starcraft 2. I read a review of a person having the same problem as me (The game runs smoothly for like 10 min then slows down.) He said that it turned out his Video card was overheating quickly and updating the BIOS fixed his issue. Does this sound right? Could this be my problem? Open Question: A programme won't work on my computer; PLEASE HELP!!?

A CD programme doesn't work on my computer. It might be a Vista thing because I have tried on 3 Vista laptops and they all don't work. I have tried compatability mode and it still doesn't work for any of them. I tried every Windows version. The programme installs but when I press the play button in the programme it comes up with the message: "ERROR: Could not play audio file. Sounds will not play if the EPSILON CD is not in the drive or if you don't have a sound card." The laptops that I played it on do have sound so I assume that the laptops have a sound card. And of course the EPSILON CD is in the CD drive. I have no other computers I can test it on. Is there some way around this? Thank you. more

ok.. so im looking to start recording hip-hop music, mainly vocals, NOTHING else. im looking for a laptop with at least 1 gb Ram [that ill later upgrade] and a good hard drive with 7200 rpm. still debating which is better.. a AMD turion x2 dual core? or a intel dual core? I am an inspiring music producer and I would like to know what kind of laptop to get??? I am going to need one for college anyway and even though I hate Macs a lot of people tell me to get the macbook pro, which is fine but I have a few questions 1. My laptop freezes when I'm doing something to do with sounds (such as listening to music or watching a video; no fancy software!). I have this problem quite a while now. The problem is my laptop sticks completely or sticks and restarts itself. I have tried to update everything like graphic cards, sound cards etc. but didn't try to update only bios cause i don't know how to do. I am using vista home premium 32 bit. Open Question: the sound card on my laptop is acting up?

I have a Dell Inspiron 1440 with Windows 7 and I've installed Skype. I've been having this problem where when I plug in or remove my headphones during a conversation, the whole program will freeze, or if it doesn't I'll lose sound OR video. Also, when my headphones are plugged in, any program (say a web browser) that is making additional sound will still come through the computer speakers. Thoughts? Well after years of having an HP Pavillion Laptop (dv4) i came to realized that the graphic card build it there really suck! so i sold it and now saving up more money to buy the a new laptop built for gaming. Okay currently I have a HP Compaq 2510p which is pretty good except I broke the screen accidently. I want something similar in size to it so not something big and bulky but maybe something a bit more slimmer. My current hard drive is 74.4 GB but it isn't big enough so I want something with a bigger hard drive. This laptop needs to have a CD drive if possible. A good graphics card because I watch a lot of videos online.It needs have to have a good processing speed and 2RAM or more.Just for fun if possible a built in webcam.I need bluetooth on this laptop as well.PS. not a web book. It needs to have good speakers and built in microphone (if possible for the microphone). It has to have USB ports and a good battery life (6-8 or more).Also if possible, already have windows 7 running. ( not a Mac please). First, what in your opinion, is the best (internal) sound card out there? Second, I've seen dozens of USB sound card adapters online, they say sound card & are just a few bucks. What are these for exactly? I've looked them up, but not finding what I want to know - would one of those get me some sound until I can purchase an internal card? Resolved Question: Recovery discs for a laptop?

My Hp Pavilion dv9700 laptop crashed and wont even turn on. Its under warrenty but I didnt know you had to make your own recovery discs. Before I send it off they told me I had to have a computer person locally back up all my files and send them the recovery discs when I send in my computer. Now I have several questions: If I provide the discs for my files to be backed up on will that lower the cost?? Do they charge by the amount of files you have or by the hour? When paying to have my files backed up one company priced me $45 total and another priced me $25 an hour. Which sounds better and why? Do I have to buy the recovery discs from the original company that made my computer or will any disc work as long as its for my operating system? (I have Windows Vista and its a HP Pavilion dv9700 and its part of the entertainment series.) If I can buy them anywhere as long as its for the same operating system, where can I buy them at that dont require a credit card, since I dont own one and dont know anyone who will use theirs if I pay them the money? In case your wondering, they think my motherboard fried which makes it so I cant turn on my computer but they (I've made calls to people who deal with computers:) think that my files can still be saved. I'm mainly worried about my pics. My son's first 6 months are documented on there.... Please dont answer if your going to say some thing stupid or smart allic. I was First planning to buy a Business+Gaming laptop with core i5, 4GB Ram , 500 GB HDD and 1GB gaphics card. after searching many reviews, i narrowed down to Lenovo Y460 for around 53k. But then I started reading forums about After sales/ support/serices in india and found out that Dell and Lenovo people had most horror stories to tell.( no responses, unacknnowledgemen of system faults, massive replacement parts for components etc) Now, im considering buying a cheap reliable laptop within 25000-35000 INR range , Minimum Specs should be 14' screen, 4 GB Ram, 320 HDD, 64bit OS and it shouldnt be too heavy/bulky . any suggestions?
