Hello all, I have seen somewhere on the web...it said that Amtrak offers something like a 30 day unlimited nationwide rail pass for only $286 or close to that... where you can travel anywhere in USA that you want to...I imagine this as like one of those wristbands at the county fair where you can ride all the different ones unlimited all you want...is this the correct assumption? Has anyone ever bought one of these $286 tickets? I know there are regional tickets for less...I think the unlimited pass for the Northeast is something like $199 or something...anyways...I am looking for anyone with firsthand experience with rail travel of this kind? Or if you have rail travel experience at all. I am retired and thinking about traveling my country alone and staying at Youth Hostels...I have read up on it and you can stay at them very cheap...and they arent just for youths anymore...I have also investigated "couch crashers"...another option. I am thinking of backpacking across the usa but with an HI card for the Hostels and also joining "couchcrashers" and also buying this rail pass...I get a fixed income of $1560 per month but it is all disposable..I have no savings...but I think with this rail pass and one months check in my pocket....I should be able to see a lot of America, i.e. Grand canyon, Golden Gate, Statue of Liberty, etc... with one of these rail passes and $1500 to spend on food for the month if I lodge cheaply. Has anyone ever had any experience with any of this? also, is there high speed internet available on Amtrak trains? Or the consequences if it is carried out?Alright, so I'm getting that it's pretty dirty to use something that you didn't pay for, but does it really matter to the owner since it doesn't make their service worse; except maybe slower, if several people are on it? They themselves are paying for it's use within their own homes, and well; as long as someone's paying for it, why not get the most out of it? Hi I moved to a place a few months ago that had roaches. Well I have a lap top and I believe they are inside of it and all the other things I have. I have killed many of them by taking things outside and spraying them down with raid. Well I am moving soon but them bastards are in my things and my laptop which is a problem. Please give me advise on how to get rid of them all before I go move or I'll end up taking them with me. Where I am moving to is a very nice place that doesn't have not one bug. So I'm saving for a Macbook Pro, and I looked online, and on the official USA Apple Store and on MacMall.com, they are significantly cheaper after the exchange rate than buying them here (Australia). For example, a 13" Macbook Pro 2.53GHZ 4GB RAM is AU$1999 here. On the MacMall site, the same one is US$1429, and after conversion, is still only AU$1570 or thereabouts. And even though they don't ship to Australia, viaadress.com will ship it from America to Australia for a bit over $60, and even then the laptop is still $450 cheaper. So, I have a few questions. One is, if I used a credit card or Paypal to buy it from America, what would it charge me? Would it be the converted price? Or more than that? So what would the American store charge my Australian credit card? Two, would the Macbook be "american"? In other words, would it be any different in terms of appearance or software (if I bought, say, iWork or Office with it?). In other words, what are the regional differences to a Macbook that came from Australia? And finally, would there be any problems with servicing or warranty because it came from America? The last time I asked this question I didn't get great answers. To be clear on the price, which is my main concern, I'm not asking whether it would charge me in AU$ or US$. I want to know whether it will charge the converted price, or more or less. And please make sure that what you say is actually readable :)I'm probably not going to be buying it from eBay. I was looking up where I could in the new USA snowboarding olympics outfit. then all the sudden the anti virus thing popped up it has happened before like last year and they tricked me into clicking the start scan thing and everything went downhill. but now this time i tried to exit out really quick so it wouldn't infect it again. but somehow it opened up and it won't let me do anything. it has ligit taken over the computer and it won't let me click on anything to stop it. spoilt = spoiled in American english. Hi everyone. um this is a little randomish- but judging from the below, am I spoilt? I babysit every weeknight for my neighbour's son, who is 1 yr old and get payed like $5 per hour (i'm not sure what the exact is, I dont live in usa) I have my own room but share my bathroom with my mom (I'm an only child) Sometimes my mom needs me to type up stuff for her, so I do that for her and if it's a lot she pays me for it, around $45 my parents bought me a macbook for my birthday (25/12/09) but only because my dad needed a laptop & he took my old one my current phone (LG), I got at the beginning of 2009, it's been about a year now. I have a digital camera which I got in 2007, a 2nd gen ipod which I got at the beginning of 2009 because my dad wanted my 1st gen one, and a wii which i got so that both my dad and I can keep fit I dont get allowance, but when I need money I ask for it (only when I go out with friends) I buy my clothes from New Look, H&M, New Yorker, Forever 21, etc. and a lot are hand me downs- my moms, my cousins, my aunts, or some gifts. and I feel like saving up for soemthing, because I'm getting money from babysitting, so a couple of my friends suggested getting a new phone. then I started researching blah blah, and a lot recommended a blackberry for the internet and stuff. Anyway im moving back to canada this summer so i thought 'I'll get a phone from canada' because of the network deals. I found a really good deal and I'm gonna save up for that one- no help from parents; purely from babysitting and savings. ok so i have had so much homework lately and have been cooped up in my room. I have to have something important sent by six and i get home at five so i am trying to work on it and i hear my mom's voice. She is on her way to work and i decide oh i will call her because i really need to get this done. So she is calling me and says i have to come downstairs. She then starts yelling at me saying I'm rude and that I'm a goat for not coming down to say hi to her when she woke up. Especially since i hadn't seen her all day. The next morning she explains that when she was sixteen she was in nigeria(cuz that's where she was raised) and was taking care of her family, someone else's family, and doing schoolwork.
