Open Question: Boot Camp on MacBook Pro with Windows 7?

I partitioned my harddrive to install windows 7 32-bit. Okay that worked fine and I'm on the Windows side of the HD now. However when I boot up my laptop and hold down option and select to boot my Mac HD side it will not boot, it just loads to the blue screen right before your home screen/log-in screen and won't go any furthur. What can I do to fix this problem? more

I'm in the market for a decent laptop at a decent price, heard that the Toshibas fall apart my friend had one, and in one year is dead. The HPs I've also heard aren't very durable but, i've heard either or about both of them (model variations I'm shure). I'm going for a decent price around 450-500 or so, The only things I really do online are, Youtube, Myspace, Emails, Windows Live Messenger, and Habbo Hotel (A Flash Player based MMO game), that's about it. Currently, I have an Acer Aspire 3680 Windows Vista that has fallen apart when in a two year span, it still runs but, hardly. Your thoughts? P.S. Please help! I recently got Sims 3 for Xmas. I first put it on my sisters PC laptop and it worked fine but now I'm trying to install it onto my mac put it wont work? the sims 3 is pc and mac compatible so i dont know whats the problem? Open Question: Need MAC address for wireless connection for TDK Global Freedom 5660 v.90?

Trying to set up wireless internet on a laptop that was just given to me (Dell Latitude CPi) and my router wants the MAC address off of the card. It says it's supposed to be 12 characters but all the numbers on the bottom of the card are 9 or 10 characters. Anyone know what the MAC address should be for TDK Global Freedom 5660 v.90 internet card? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.Ok I got that information and put it on the router page using my desktop connected to the internet. Open Question: what does this red light on my macbook's headphone jack mean?

i have a red light coming from inside of my headphone jack on my mac book. for some reason, the speakers inside the mac book WILL NOT WORK AT ALL (only for the "taa daa!" noise when it starts up, so i know they WORK...) so i always have to use speakers or headphones. my dad is a mac whiz and an IT mgr to boot, and he has never heard or a red light coming from inside the headphone jack. you know how mac ppl are, they have to be all weird and mysterious and sterile. anyhow, the headphones/speakers i use aren't broken, but only one side of the speakers comes through on any pair of anything, unless i put slight pressure on the headphone jack (i.e. setting something light on it, like a bottle of lotion...i know that's not good for it, but if i don't it won't work both sides...) when i go onto my system preferences> sound>output it only shows built-in output for headphones...no built in speakers even exist on that list as an option! the balance is equal the volume is up, yadda yadda. i have been through the basic dummy troubleshooting. i need some real answers here. is my headphone jack thing just shot on the inside? scrap the laptop? simple fix? i am but a wee poor college student, so just some tips for dad to solder it back together or w/e works, but any answers would be helpful. is there anything i can do? thank you for your time :) more

Open Question: How can I transfer a PC driver from a Mac to my PC without internet?

I had to reinstall Windows Vista Home Premium on my laptop, but there are a couple drivers missing and one of them is my ethernet driver, so it disables my wireless card and my ethernet connection. I downloaded the ethernet driver on my mac (.exe) file, and need to transfer it to my PC. I just got my laptop back from Future Shop repairs (under extended warranty) and they said they replaced my motherboard, but my MAC address has not changed, should it have if I did, in fact, get a new motherboard? When i turn on the computer, it comes on normal, then before anything loads a screen comes up with the the power on symbol in the backdrop, a computer code is to the top right of the screen, the screen then goes to a light gray over the code like a see through gray, and then asks to restart the computer...any idea of what to do?The computer belongs to my school, so i don't really know how old the battery is. we havent had problems with it before, however; unless i am completely stupid and don't know anything, when the charger is plugged in and the light is orange it needs charged correct? I've had my mac connected to the internet before but a few days ago the connection broke down. I've tried turning both the wireless router and the Mac on and off, I've done a network diagnostics check, I've tried moving the router around the house, I've checked its the right wireless name and the password is correct, I've entered the IP address into the URL bar and looked at the D-Link control but couldn't log on to it, I contacted D-Link to find the password but it had been changed, I rang Apple Support spoke to them for an hour and they couldn't solve the problem and there is a Macbook, Windows Laptop and iPhone connected fine to the internet but I can't get my iMac on it. PLEASE HELP-IT'S MAKING ME GO MAD more

Alright i've done quite a bit of googlizing and come to the conclusion i don't know WTF i am doing. I am attempting to set up a proxy server at my house on my desktop(mac) so i can use it on my Laptop(mac) at school. Open Question: What kind of iLink cable do i need for a Sony Mini DV DCR-HC28 video camera?

So I've been looking around for quite a while, gone from store to store, even called the Sony company... they do not make a USB for this camera and they say it is impossible to import the video I record on it to a computer. But, on this website http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&productId=11035843&langId=-1#features it says that with the iLink interface I can transfer video from the camera to a PC. I'm not very savvy when it comes to technology, so I always look everything up. I see that it's just a firewire but Sony brand, however there are 4 pins and 6 pins, and I just don't know what it all means. So I'm just sitting here staring at my camera and laptop with a peculiar look on my face, wondering if anyone knows how to tell what kind of cable I need, how many pins, will this REALLY work in terms of putting the video onto my computer? So, if anyone, ANYONE at all knows about this stuff, or maybe has this camera and has figured it out, whatever, something, then it'd be pretty awesome is you'd pass your knowledge on down this way. Also, if this doesn't work, what about some sort of Mini DV tape reader or something? I have windows vista, and someone recommended Pinnacle Video Capture, but I can only find it for Mac. Comments? Ok, Well, i am just wondering. I am a high school student that is wanting to buy a laptop. The education tax rebate for high school students allows my parents to get 50% of $1500 to be rebated once a year. This $1500 has to be spent on things such as computers and text books. I am wanting to take advantage of this to buy a new computer. I am wanting to buy a Mac and my question is, could i give my sister the money to buy it online taking advantage of the education discount and free ipod offer and still get my mum to get the tax rebate? I have an external hard drive currently in my laptop. I would like to delete information i no longer need off of the external hard drive, however I don't have any options.It says I can 'compress' the items, but not delete. any ideas?I tried that, it didn't work. more

I need to "prove" to my parents that I can't connect to the Internet on my laptop from my room. Well I can, using my neighbour's Wi-Fi. Is there a way I can temporarily make it look like it's locked or make it look connected but when I open the browser, get a "not connected" error?
