Open Question: Do I have any credit at all?

I've never used a credit card before. I've only used a debit card (though I've used it as credit). I've never taken out any loans or anything. My dad signed me up for Financial Aid for school, and I'm pretty sure that's under my name. But I believe he's doing a good job at taking care of that, meaning he's paying for it. Other than that I don't pay bills, except for a laptop my dad bought with HIS credit card (I give him cash for that lol). Hmm what else... Oh, I overdrafted 6 times within the same month, and ended up with a balance of -$210 when I got my statement. It was the banks fault and I got my way out of it, and they said they would reimburse me the $210. They didn't give me everything back though, and I still had a balance of -$11. So I immediately payed it off and closed my account. No one's ever used my debit card / checking account except myself, but I've requested new debit cards from the bank for safety purposes (still kept the same account though). I think that's prettymuch it... So do I have credit? If so, does it look bad? more

Open Question: My Fiancee is Ana/Mia...Help!?

About a year and a half ago my girlfriend (now fiancee) confessed to me that she was bulimic. I accepted that she had not exactly been "lying" to me, per se, but was definitely hiding the truth from me and promised to support and assist her in any way I could. She promised that she would stop doing it and we came to an agreement that she would stop doing it and I would support her and help her, and that she would stop, with help from me and her family/friends. For about 1 year all was well, and I thought a new leaf was turned and we had gotten over this stone... Or so I thought... She had been "secretly" purging behind my back the whole time and was, again, trying to hide from me (although, if you know someone who purges, it's pretty obvious) that she was still purging, and clearly had no intent to stop. She is getting so brazen, now, that she doesn't even make sure all of the "junk" in the toilet is gone after she purges, and I lift the seat to use the bathroom and discover particles of dinner in it (sorry for the description; I tried to be as PG as possible). I have encouraged her, time after time, am loving and accepting of her body the way it is, and have offered to help her to cover the co-payment of her going to a local, critically acclaimed and nationally recognized treatment program. Even though I have very little money due to being unemployed she still seems to not want to get better. What's worse is she is constantly nagging on me about the bad things that I do, like smoking, and drinking, that I have given up as a plead for her to be healthy, do the right thing, and get help, but she has this strange rationalization and justification of her addiction of purging as being better than my former habits. She tells me "one day of my (former) smoking is equal to one month of her purging" and it just bothers me that she thinks that way. I have gotten her the number to the local (again accredited, well recognized) eating disorder program and she says that she has called, but is not seeking treatment. And now for the very disturbing part....yes sadly there's more.. I recently had to purchase a new computer because our laptop died. I opened up a line of credit to buy a computer because I am attending college again for I/TT and needed a home computer for school. I am very protective of this new computer because it is an integral part of my education and am leery of viruses and other stuff that can corrupt my brand new computer, that I couldn't afford to replace, again. My computer was acting funny and, being an I/TT computer science major, I decided to use my skills to fix it. Well, as I said, already being wary of the potential danger to my new computer, and doing everything in my power to protect it from getting damaged, I had at it. In the course of my actions, my curiosity got the best of me, so to speak, and I found a lot of disturbing things on my hard drive. There were several pictures and movies of gruesome, repulsingly and disgustingly thin, emaciated, women that had been downloaded to my computer. There is only 2 people EVER that have access to this computer and, by process of elimination, it was not me. Don't get me wrong, I don't distrust her; she is free to look at whatever she wishes to online, and I know that she knows what this computer means to me, but she doesn't seem to correlate the health of my computer to me getting a better job. I just feel that all of this "pro ana/mia" junk she is looking at is only fueling a burning fire and is creating a vicious cycle and supporting her addiction. I really want to know is what is my next course of action? What can I do? What do I do for somebody who is refusing treatment and continues down the same path of addiction? How do I cope with somebody that is rejecting all of my support and not recognizing my sacrifices in attempts to help them? And, worst of all, why should I marry someone who is constantly lying, or covering up the truth, or just doesn't care? How do I marry someone who has no concern about what I have given up in an effort to ultimately help them? more

Bare with me here for a lil guys... Hit by a semi. Insurances paid everything they were responsible for now I’m dealing with the semi company directly. The accident happened in Cali and the law says the minimum they owe to pay for everything is 30k. Details... -I get one vacation a year and it got cut short and ruined because their client hit me. -back is killer and I get random foot cramps (don’t sound to bad but they are intense...seriously) -semi driver was pulled over hour before he hit us and told he was driving too fast and needed to slow down (guess he didn’t listen and hit us). Paramedics also found an open and on laptop in the passengers seat. -had to go out of our way and stay in the area we got hit for a couple days. -plans completely changed meaning we had to spend a lot of money we initially didn’t have to but don’t really have receipts because they were small things... they just added up fast (but not too worried about that stuff) -didn’t get to visit grandparents and it was supposed to be a big thing because I never see them. And my vacation for the year is now gone. -car totaled and I still haven’t gotten a new one which is making my life hell for the past 2 months with work and everything. [Almost lost my job because of a lack of a car!!!] -they lied about a check I was supposed to receive and I ended up getting over charged in my account costing me more money. Did end up receiving the check later though but wasn’t even enough to cover costs of car rental or overages in my account. -cant drive next to semi's without freaking the “f” out. I am always finding myself re positioning my self because I get extremely uncomfortable when driving. -screwing up my credit for the past 2 months also because they still have not paid my medical and now I have collection agencies calling me wanting their money. I was thinking about calling and settling outside court without a lawyer and say I want 60K. I know how they are goona work it and say they will give me 8k or whatever, but that’s barely even enough to cover bills. So well prolly end up at, if it goes the way I want around 30k to 35k. If not, definitely taking it to court with a lawyer. I just figure if I try and settle outside court that will be it and don’t and they will never talk to me again. Besides it will save us both on cost for lawyers and time. Am I correct on this or am I over reacting. Because I believe I’m a well rounded individual and am definitely not a greedy person in the least but I feel I deserve some compensation for what they did. And they did take full responsibility. So from experience where am I sitting? P.S. we do have documented injuries from when we went to the hospital. (This money will be split three ways to cover all of our costs. Resolved Question: Security Wall Firewall Alert keeps popping up on my laptop????? How do I stop it??? Do I have a virus?

I bought this laptop about two weeks ago and all of a sudden last night I started getting this Security Tool Alert saying that I have 37 infected items in my files. I bought Webroot Anti virus with Spy sweeper and installed it the same day i bought this laptop and it tells me all the bad things have been quarantined after I did the sweep last night. Although, one of the quarantined items is a rogue security program. Every program that i try to go in there is a pop up that tells me that the program is infected with a specific worm and the worm is trying to send my credit card info. I don't even have any credit card info on this laptop yet... Can someone help please, how can i stop this stuff from popping up. I already tried to restore and the Security tool will not let me. more

I've never had a credit card, and I wasn't sure how the whole credit card deal works. If I did get one, I don't plan on using it that much, only for emergencies. Is it BAD if I don't use it as often? Let's say I paid for a laptop with it, and made the monthly payments until I'm done paying for it all.. If I have no more payments to make on it, can I just not use it and let it sit there? I have a Sony Vaio P (I purchased for $700US) with a 1600 by 768 pixel screen, 2GB ram,1.86ghz (intel z540 chip), 128GB SSD (Sony OEM not runcore -_-) & ipod nano (2008 model) and a blackberry bold (9000) I love the crisp pictures my Sony P provides, the res is worse on the ipad specs I don't care if the screen is slightly larger, My laptop is smaller, weighs lighter and fits the purpose of space efficiency and portability. It has a spaced out keyboard and the beta version of MS Office 2010 on it. Apple's 'killer app store' provokes a loud yawn and sure it has 1-5% (some) practical value, most of the apps are novelty crap and the only one to defend it's necessity to the death seem to be apple fanboys or dullards whose last major electronic purchase was the NES in the late '80s... I am sick of the plants on radio who promote this crap, the reviewers who seem to be on Jobs' payroll and others who think this is an 'economical solution' at US $500+, it makes me sick... especially when I think about the elderly who've never heard of a tablet PC and get suckered into purchasing this device because of the large colourful screen and reading utilities make it easier to access their books and newspapers. Sure that alone is worth 500 smackers plus your credit details, data payments and download charges for the material. So far no apps have been created to make it a worthwhile purchase at any price ($1 even) I wouldn't waste any of my wi-fi, money or time on it, unless I was paid a princely sum. more

I really want a nice little laptop until I can get my bad-ass one (I have to wait for my credit to build up before I can get it, it's over $2,000 and has everything I could possible ever want, as designed by my brother-in-law, who is a comp. tech). My Dell laptop's (that was under warranty) hard drive went bad. I was sent a refurbished hard drive and told to send the old one back. my main problem is that my parents won't let us be able to watch tv anymore(aka no antennae or cable) First b4 you write anything i need to make things clear, we're not poor! we moved from apartment to house and we bought a new lcd tv (?). O and don't say it's my parents money and that they can do whatever they want with it, i know that, thats why im trying to convince them rather than stealing their credit card or something. Ok we moved into this new house last year and our neighbors are asian, this is perfect for my parents cause they're asian too and speak the same language. Now my parents are looking at they're son who is awesome in school (not saying that i suck, which i dont.) they're family doesn't have cable tv (but do have an antennae which my parents don't care about). they still play violent video games and that but my parents looked over that for some stupid reason. so they are trying to get close to my neighbors and copy everything they do, from sharing netflix accounts (where the movie goes to their house and we have to get it from their house, seriously) to paying half the internet bill even though we have horrible reception cause the modem thing is in THEIR house. then my parents took away my xbox and laptop when they go to work (im home alone 4 hrs a day) and expect me to finish my homework (another misinterpretation of how my neighbors live, their son does play video games in the weekdays sometimes.) of course now they want to my xbox for a whole week so that i would literally have nothing to do at home cause there arent any board games and i dont expect to read for 3 hours a day just waiting for someone to be home. so now they decide to go the cheap way and say that i have to be excellent in everything so they take away and possibility of getting cable for the rest of my years. ive had to be home alone every day for 3 yrs and now i have absolutly "NO ENTERTAIMENT, IT MAKE YOUR GRADE BAD!" as they would say it. i used to have cable but now their sucking up to everything my neighbors have and i bet you that in 2 yrs we would be living under the same roof and paying half their mortgage. It was in his name (IDIOT!) and when they broke up 8 months ago, she was supposed to get his name off the credit card, the court said. It bugged me so bad cuz it wasnt getting taken care of and he told me constantly to mind my own business and its in his past so let it go. EVEN THO IT WASNT IN HIS PAST YET!!!....so i bugged him enough to make the decision to go get the laptop from her and he would pay it off....She payed the minimum every month so the total on the card was actually more then they paid for the ocmputer because of all the interest build up.. I'm about to try and apply for my first credit card (and no your not going to talk me out of it) and i have a plan on how im going to use it. only problem is i know nothing about any of these credit companies, and wouldn't even know where to look. the plan is to just use whatever card i get for a down payment (or if i get used, i'll buy it off) on a car, and possibly a laptop for school. and thats it, and just pay it off without using it anymore except for maybe the occasional soda. PROBLEM, i have really bad credit, and it was hard enough just to get a phone service. any help?also: i already have, and have had a checking account for over 2 years. the reason for my bad credit is not being a deadbeat, its because a car dealership screwed me over on my first car when i was in the military, and i couldnt pay it on military pay, then the car suffered 5grand worth of damage and it was unpayable for me so it was reposessed. My husband and I have known each other for 5 years and we've been married for 1 year. During the first 2 years of our relationship he had a really bad issue with texting and using messengers. He took the conversations too far and sometimes pictures were exchanged. I confronted him and he stopped exchanging photos and starting working on controlling the issue. What didn't stop right away was the occasional flirty phone calls, and text messages between him and other random girls. He would talk to them through chat rooms, myspace, facebook, & yahoo messenger. Most of the time he would do this while I was away or not in the same room. Naturally these women were becoming very interested in him. I found out about most of this after he had left his phone on text messages and a few of them were "exposed". He had also left his laptop on his messengers and I saw the in depth conversations he was having. It made me feel unappreciated and depressed. After seeing these messages I confronted him again and he immediately stopped talking to all of them. It's been over a year since the last incident. Recently he left his phone on again and I saw some flirtatious conversations between him and two other women. I let him know how it makes me feel when he does this and I even tried to understand why he does this still. He says that he knows he's a flirt and that he is still trying to stop. He says that it is more of an impulse thing that he is having trouble controlling. I give him credit, he stopped sending pics and it all seems as if its not as bad as it was in the beginning. I kno he still sends messages and texts to 2 women, and sometimes they get a lil too flirty. He's been talking to these women from what I've noticed for at least 4 months. When I found the text messages I looked to see if they had ever called each other, from what it looked like, I would say yes. The girls get mad when he doesn't talk to them on almost a regular basis. But he assures me it is nothing but flirting and that he is not about to go sleep with anyone or looking for anything. He says he has what he wants (me) and thats all he wants. I can't help but feel like I got myself into something crazy. Should I accept that is is part of his personality and not take it so seriously, or should I try to do something about it, or should I leave? more

I'm in the market for a decent laptop/notebook for less then $500, maybe $600 if my credit will allow it (I'll definitely being going on a payment plan). My fiancee and I have been together for two years. I should mention now he is not a high ability person and he doesn't have many skills to offer in the job market, he has ADD so he's slow as hell at completing any task, and I don't hold any of it against him. I take 18 credit hours in school, work 15 horus a week tutoring, am lining up an internship in Washington DC next spring, and happen to also be getting an economics thesis in the works and looking at graduate schools. The only thing I ever ask of him is that he stay home and keep the house clean and take care of our ferrets and devote his time to me. In return I do everything else for our future you can imagine. In light of this, we've been fighting for a couple days and I dont' know how to get myself to be able to forgive him. Sunday we had a wonderful day, great dinner, really deep connecting time in the bedroom, lots of laughter and kisses and genuinly just an amazing day!! That night when we went to bed though I mentioned he had bad breathe and he got really angry and said 'oh, well I'll just sleep on the couch then' and stormed out of the room. He didint' come back to bed. The next morning, I woke up to find out he had done the dishes, cleaned everything, and made the house look really nice. I stayed up so late I overslept and asked if he wanted to just spend the morning with me since I missed my class and had free time before work. He said no because he had to go sign a lease on the new apartment. We got in a fight about this because I just wanted him to stay and hang out with me. Well, he finally called me at 6pm, 3 hours later, and was drunk at some friends house. A friend whose birthday he wouldn't have even known it was if he hadn't ran into him while he was out runnign errands....So I'm crying, telling him that I'm hurt, and that we really still needed to talk after our big fight and how could he waste the only free afternoon I have all week, and that I'm leaving the state soon etc.( Now's a good time to mentino that in a month I leave for my DC internship for 6 months and won't be able to see or spend time with him) So, he keeps saying no and ignoring me. I call back and leave a voicemil on the friends phone to have him call me. I just got out of rehab a few days ago, after being there for 31 hellish days. If you want to know why, I was highly addicted to Vicodin and Oxycodone after being prescribed it for 6 months for a simple ankle surgery. Ok here's the deal.....Verizon Wireless is selling their Gateway LT Netbook for $29. It's only for a short time and the regular price is $99. The catch is that you gatta subscribe to their 2-yr contract for $39.99 or $59.99 for internet i think. I was thinking of getting that mini laptop, but not for ME. I wanted to get it as a Christmas gift for somebody, but i don't wanna get into a 2-yr contract and I'm sure they wouldn't wanna do that either. Hi; Im 18 and in college and recently broke my laptop. My mom has been getting on me about starting to gain credit and such so we both thought this would be a good time to apply for a credit card. Hopefully I can get one soon, maybe before black friday, and buy another laptop on it. I have a job so I should be able to pay it off completely by the end of spring semester. Resolved Question: Good or bad: Take $8,000 loan to pay off smaller credit card debts ($4,000) to only pay 1 bill/month?

Just calculated all my CC debt and I have a grand total of $2450 in debt. I also have to pay tuition next semester which will be another $2,000. So $4450 total. This CC debt is hanging over my head and annoying. I just want to get rid of it once and for all! I have been offered a loan of $8,000. My minimum balance per month would be $280. I would take the $8,000 to pay off the $4450 debt which leaves me with $3,550 in my bank account. With that $3,550 + my current bank account balance + work I will pay the $280 per month. ...Then I will not rip up my CC cards (3 total) but I will just straight up not use them. Actually my highest balance is on my Best Buy store card (bought a laptop, a desktop, and an HD Canon over the last 6 months)..... So do you think it is a good idea to do this? I do because I will pay off and "consolidate" all my debt into one payment a month. Instead of worrying about 4 due dates I'll just worry about 1....Not to mention this loan will boost my credit score and report (which is good so far, not one missed payment or late payment, staying below 35-40% of my max credit limit at all times).... Here is the good part. I recently was approved to buy a foreclosed home. I believe I can get (renting it out) $800 a month. The problem is I am waiting on the bank to get the paperwork together so I can use my money from my checking account (yes I have enough to pay off all my debt listed above + way more) BUT I want to use this money to pay for the house THEN LATER when the house is paid for + repairs worry about the $2,000 in debt. It has been a few weeks since the bank accepted my offer and I am hoping any day now they will have the paperwork ready so I can get a tenant in there. So the good news is (hopefully just before Xmas) I will have an extra income of $800 a month which will by itself pay for more than the min. balance of the loan each month. Since I said I would have roughly $3550 of the loan money left after I pay my debt I will use this + the first months rent + the deposit from my tenant to pay a large chunk of that $8,000 debt off (probably $6,000). Then from that point I will go on with my life and business and only owe $2,000 on the $8,000 loan which I will pay off quickly. Now I spoke with the lender and they said if I paid the loan early I would barely pay any interest whereas if I pay over the life of the loan I will pay the full interest. ...Then several months down the road I will try to talk with my bank on getting a home equity loan (to use to buy a second foreclosed home)... Just wondering, I am a first time homebuyer. 22 years old and make around $14,000 a year at a part-time job. I attend college and plan on getting a house. The house is $69,900. Okay on Wednesday I was grounded for not cleaning my room and back talking. Such as when someone rents a laptop computer from them, then 3 months later gets laid off and moves to another city to get another job, and takes the laptop with them, and stops paying. Then the rent-to-own store has all the expenses of skip tracing etc. And what if the customer already had bad credit and was being hounded by collection agents? The rent-to-own store advertises "no credit check" which implies they don't care if they rent to deadbeats. How do they survive all the losses? more

i want to get a new laptop and i want to put it on a credit card to get some credit rolling best buy denied me for there interest free credit card but they did say that they do have another credit card but the interest is kind of high cause if for people with bad or no credit. can i get it buy like 200 dollars worth of stuff then pay it off within a month or so the would that get me credit more

No one in my family has a laptop/computer (single mom, on disability), but I am a senior and need to make up 2 credits I know I won't be able to do it at my school or any other school(personnel reasons). I think it will make things worse if I just stay at my current school or move to a different school. I just want to get this crap passed me and would love to get back on track. Out of school rite now looking for solutions. I just need to find a considerably easy online school. I have tried IQ WAY to hard for me.
