Open Question: How do I change the audio recording settings on my computer?

I want to record the audio of what's playing on my computer (videos on youtube and stuff) but when I use the recording program, it's automatically records from my microphone (I have one built in). I'm using Smart PC Recorder. I've tried other programs, but those programs won't let me change the settings either. I think it's some setting on Windows, but I don't know how to fix it. This is a Compaq Presario CQ50-107NR Notebook PC laptop with Windows Vista. I might just have to go out and get a double male head plug and record it that way, but I know there's a simple way to fix this without having to use the cord, because I've done it in the past, I just can't remember how. more

My High Definition Audio Controller is missing. I looked through my system files [didn't screw with anything] and I had the HD audio driver, but the controller itself was missing. This is a Compact Presario CQ50-107NR Notebook PC laptop with Windows Vista. Anyways, I noticed with this laptop, there are a lot less keys then the standard keyboard, but with the home, insert, delete, etc. keys, and with the function keys, they have other choices for the keys. For instance, on the scroll key, it says scroll and underneath scroll is a little box that says num lk, then on the insert key, under insert it has a little box that says prt sc. My question is, how do you change the setting so when you hit those keys, it will do what it says in the little boxes on each key instead. I tried caps lock, but that doesn't work. I just want to be able to use the print screen key, so please let me know if you have any suggestions. more

So, I've had my Compaq Presario Notebook for about 6 months now (It has a year's warranty). It's been running smoothly without problem up until a few minutes ago, and I really don't know why. I was on the internet when the screen faded out of nowhere. I suspected that it was hibernating / sleeping but it woudn't turn on, it still won't! No matter how long I hold down the power button. I have a brand new Compaq Cq61-414NR Notebook windows 7 home premium. I had it a little over a month and I already had to do a system recovery. This was because of Norton Internet Security, which I hate with all my heart. Everytime your subscription runs out it completely messes up your computer as if to say thats what you get for not buying a new liscense. What are some free softwares I can download that are simple and effective? what should I look out for like programs not to install and things I shouldnt do. The problem that norton caused was a disk error and my pc could not even run check disk to fix it. I couldnt system restore or boot in safe mode. but the free trial comes with the computer..I have other virus protection to install. but is it safe to remove norton regularly or should I use the removal tool? Hi I want to get a new laptop soon but I have no idea which one to get. I want one with lots of memory and sort of the same size as the one I have now. I also want one with nice keys. I know this sounds stupid but I like clicky ones and I adore the Apple laptop keys! But I can't have an Apple laptop due to the fact it's MAC and stuff. Resolved Question: How to reset RAM in the laptop?

So we have this laptop (Compaq Presario V6000) just formatted and dividided it's local disk drive into 50gb each in C and D. Then we've been using it some months now and it's pretty fast thou but then just the other day, the notebook crashed and was making some weird noice and goes "Teng, teng, teng, teng" and a blue screen with some white notes and stuff. I don't remember any of the words anymore. We pressed and hold the power button so that it shut down and then we turned it on again and then after that incident the notebook run slowly than before. I tried to find out why it slow down, I checked on the Local disks memory (C & D) but they're both 1/5 of the total memory. My mum said that it's the RAM that's causing the problem and she said that it'll reset in few days but until now it's still running slow as the day it happen. I tried to research on how to reset the RAM in computers but I don't know if it's for Desktops or laptops or will it matter. So how do I reset the RAM in my laptop? more

I want to connect my compaq to my tv, it doesn't have an S-Video output only a VGA one. My TV only has RCA input (the yellow, white and red cables, I'm pretty sure it's called RCA). Well, it also has the other input where you plug in the digital cable thing and another Audio/Video input (only the white and the yellow ones) on the back. Finally upgrading from a 2003 Dell notebook to a brand new Toshiba, maybe. I know Dells are decent computers, and I know how to fix 'em if they break. I don't like HP/Compaq, Sony, and I can't afford a Mac. So my question is if Toshiba's are good computers over all? Do they have a history of breaking quickly? Or having over heating problems, or anything of that nature? Because I cant shell out 200 bucks for a decent warranty ontop of the computers retail cost. I just want to know if buying one would be worth while, it'll be a LONG time before I upgrade again. It's a Satellite L500-ST2543. 15" display.. windows 7.. Intel T4400 (2.2G), 3Gb RAM, 250GB HDD, Integrated wireless of course. keeps restarting, when i disabled automatic reboot I get the error: unmountable boot media. I know a checkdisk will fix it or a system repair with a cd. but... it has no cd drive and when trying to start dos through safemode the error occurs and it reboots. The only two options I can think of are getting a docking station with cd and reloading/ repairing windows that way. I tried dl'ing the drivers for the HP Deskjet 990c, but something didn't work right (more than likely on my end - I'm not entirely computer savvy), and I REALLY need someone's help on how to fix this so my printer will work!
