i have working in computer shop. i want to make my own sticker for laptops and cell phones. custom sticker, what do i need to? papers and printer. to make it perfect for any laptop size. starting from 11inch up to 17 inch thank you moreVoting Question: Which notebook for (maybe unreasonably demanding) MA student?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi, there! http://forum.notebookreview.com/what-notebook-should-i-buy/506644-notebook-ma-student.html These days I am about to go back "to school" and I am looking to buy a notebook...I don`t want just any of those "normal" students laptops (ranging from Asus, Acer, Toshiba, to Dell XPS, Studio, etc..) My last laptop was a Thinkpad from R series, and I was very happy with it...However, there were times I wished it had a (non-integrated) graphic card (something around GeForce 9600M GT, maximum being Mobility Radeon HD 5650, but minimum at least graphics equivalent, or better then NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS (all according to Notebookcheck: NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS )... I do have IBM X60s for typing and wild wi-fi signal catching, but would like to take a bigger laptop "for a walk" sometimes... Apart from normal university activities such as word processing, powerpointing , and image rendering, I want to be able to game occasionally (mostly games comparable to Call of Duty 4, maybe CoD6), do some CAD, etc... I know one might say "Well, Dell XPS studio can handle that..", or "Go for Asus G7something..", etc... I did my research on all the ones from that spectre, and I am under the impression that those kind of laptops are boiling most of the time, have lousy build, and aren`t reliable very much... That is why I would like to step into the mobile workstation territory...YES, WORKSTATION LAPTOP IS GOING TO BE OVERKILL FOR ME AND MY NEEDS...But, aren`t all those crazy six quad desktops with SLIs, and 40 inch monitors used mainly for gaming, overkill too? I want clean looking chassis, reasonable processing power, as cool operation as one can reasonably expect, up to 3 years future-proofing, and reliability combined with strong built (not in terms of Panasonic Toughbook, but rather in terms of not creeking every time I move it over the table, picked it up from it, or just carry it to my window shelf to catch better wi-fi signal from the neighbouring office building... I have been eyeing up Dell Precision M4400 (something like http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Dell-Precision...item5194590ef2 ), maybe M2400, Latitude E6500(someting like Dell Latitude E6500 15.4" Work Laptop BLACK @ ndc 4708 on eBay (end time 11-Aug-10 07:31:08 BST) ), Vostro 1720 (Dell Vostro 1720 17"Muktimedia Laptop BLACK @ ndc 10660 on eBay (end time 11-Aug-10 07:55:09 BST) ) and also Lenovo T410 with hybrid graphics, as well as ThinkPad W510 (Lenovo - Laptop computers - ThinkPad W Series - ThinkPad W510 - United Kingdom (GB)) one option that is unkown world to me would be customising laptop Enigma online at PCSPECIALIST.CO.UK - Custom PCs, Custom Computers, Custom PC, Desktop PC, Custom Built Computers, Gaming PC (PCSPECIALIST.CO.UK - EnigmaII Laptops, EnigmaII Gaming Laptops, Build Your Own EnigmaII Laptop) in the attachments you can see the specs.. Basically, I would want a ThinkPad/Precision hybrid-all the reliability of a ThinkPad and build quality (same as Precision, right?) coupled with graphic options found in Precision line, especially M4400 (FX770M)... However, since I am not very experienced, it might be possible that Vostro 1720 above would be just fine for my needs... Money is not an issue, but I hate wasting it...I hate hot laptops, but if under load I would accept 60-70C under my palms...I am ready to invest in, or even construct powerfull notebook cooler (I understand bottom is critical most of the time)... Any thoughts? General Questions 1) What is your budget? Anything between 400GBP/600USD, up to 1100GBP/1650-ish USD 2) What size notebook would you prefer? 17 could be tolerated if anything like Dell Vostro 1720, 15-ish inch probably, 14 kind of squezed all in, but if all is good-why not??? 3) Where will you buying this notebook? You can select the flag of your country as an indicator. UK probably...Maybe I order it from Germany if better offer.. 4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like? a. Like: Dell, Lenovo b. Dislike: Not dislike, but in this case find not up to my crazy expectations and criteria-Acer, Toshiba, Asus... 5) Would you consider laptops that are refurbished/redistributed? Sure...Yes... 6) What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook? wordprocessing, video and photo rendering, occasional (3 hours a week) midrange gaming (CoD4 & CoD6 -I just play certain level on single player and try the impossible since I am immortal there ))) ) 7) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places, leaving it on your desk or both? Both, mostly it will be in my room... 8) Will you be playing games on your notebook? If so, please state which games or types of games? FPS-CoD4 & CoD6 (all on low detail, if necessary (as long as I can hear my seargent shouting, a moreResolved Question: Can someone please help me decide which computer to get?

I currently have a Dell Inspiron 1520 and, in short, I'm not in love with it. Four of my best friends have a Macbook and they absolutely adore them. I want to purchase one before the next semester of college begins. I'm a sophomore majoring in Biology/Pre-med at the moment, but I may change to architectural engineering. I take lots of pictures and would like to be able to edit them with something along the lines of Photoshop but preferably not that expensive. I use the internet a lot as well as Microsoft Word! I definitely want a aluminum MacBook Pro!! What picture editing software do you suggest? Would you choose Microsoft Office for Mac or iWork? Would you suggest the AppleCare plan? 1) What is your budget? Willing to pay whatever for quality but don't want excess 2) What size notebook would you prefer? 13 inch 5) What tasks will you be performing with the notebook? word processing, internet surfing, music, lots of pictures, editing, possibly architecture drafting 6) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places or leaving it on your desk? I need ultra portability for class and going back-and-forth to my house 7) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games? nope 8) How many hours of battery life do you need? as many as possible, I have a packed day of classes 9) Do you mind buying online without seeing the notebook in person? I've looked at and used many macs before so I'm okay with buying online 11) From the choices below, what screen resolutions would you prefer? no real preference, i might watch the occasional movie 14) When are you buying this laptop and how long do you want this laptop to last? I want to buy in the next month and I want it to last for all of college 15) How much hard drive space do you want? I don't know how much I would need. I have many folders full of pictures and save quite a few word documents for class 16) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a CDRW/DVD-ROM, DVD Burner or Blu-Ray drive? CD drive for sure, possibly a DVD burner too. 17) How much memory do you need? I'm not sure how much I need. I like to have several applications open and I like my computer to run swiftly. moreResolved Question: What second PC is needed for day trading?
Should I get a desktop or a laptop? Please read below: •A PC with a good monitor: Most personal computers sold nowadays have the processing power to handle day trading. Because you'll be spending a lot of time in front of it, do yourself a favor and get a large flat screen — at least 17 inches diagonal. •A second PC: Computers are fickle. No matter which brand you buy, you're subject to different mechanical or software glitches that can shut you down. That's why it's good to have a duplicate of your system on a laptop or second PC, so that you can switch over quickly. •High-speed Internet access: You need a fast, reliable connection. Period. •Spreadsheet software: Still haven't figured out Microsoft Excel? It's time. Spreadsheets will help you track performance and analyze returns. •An online brokerage account: Several brokerage firms specialize in the needs of high-volume traders. They offer online access, real-time quotes, backtesting and other analytical services, and low commission to those who make many trades. moreVoting Question: whats a good laptop for me to get?

I want a laptop desk that I can sit in bed with comfortably. I type a lot, so it does a number on my wrists to sit in awkward positions whenever I write in bed. I brought one from Wal-mart but it was plastic and it wasn't very good. Not to mention, it was for a much smaller laptop. I've noticed that most of the lap desks that I've looked at are for average sized laptops. The one that I had fit my sister's laptop perfectly (15 inches I think) but mine kept falling off. The point is, I'd love some help finding a good laptop desk online that will definitely fit a 17 inch computer. I want the kind that fits over one's legs and is adjustable. Preferably made of wood or something else that'll last long. Anything but plastic. . I'd rather not spend over 60 dollars for it (actually I'd rather not spend over 20 but I know that's probably not going to happen...haha...) Links directly to the item (on trusted sites) would be great. Thanks! moreResolved Question: Need advice...Which notebook is "better"?
We are talking about 2 HP pavillion laptops... the first one has these performances: CPU:Intel Core i5-430M processor 2.26GHz with Turbo Boost Technology up to 2.53 GHz RAM: 4GB DDR3 HDD: 500GB GraphichCard: NVIDIA GeForce G 105M 512mb it is 17.3 inch widescreen the second laptop has these performances: CPU: 2.13GHz Intel Core i3-330M Processor RAM: 4GB DDR3 HDD: 500GB GraphichCard: NVIDIA GeForce G 105M 512mb it is 15.6 inch widescreen if we look carefully the main difference is in the CPU one of them is i3 the other one is i5 plus the other difference is the screen length one of them is 17.3 the other one is 15.6 one advantage of the first one is that it has also a remote controller... my problem is that I have not yet decided which one to take, the difference in price is 130dollars... the second one is cheaper of course... having in mind that I study computer sciences which one is much useful (based on the screen length)...of course you might think that I am a bit crazy since I study IT and I still ask this question... I am totally aware that the first one is better than the second one based on the performances but I am not sure if the difference in price is a real one so maybe I might benefit if I get the first or the second one... thanks in advance :) moreVoting Question: Off to college and picking a Laptop need help?

I’m looking for a new laptop and I’ve found two that I’m very interested in, one is and 17 inch HP which has 6 gigs of ram and a 500 gig hard drive. The other one is a 15 inch dell and has 4 gigs of ram with a 500 gig hard drive. I would without a doubt go with the HP other than the 17inch screen, I’m using the computer for school and I travel a lot and don’t want to lug around a 17 inch computer. So I want to know if 4 gigs vs. 6 gigs is going to make a huge difference. If you want to look at the computers here are the links. I just bought a display model on clearance at Best Buy which was about $1300 (ended up paying a little less than $2000 after tax and a warranty). I was really excited to finally own an alienware, but now I'm really regretting it and I'm not sure if it was a good idea... First off, the laptop came with no box of manual, so I have NO clue what any of these alienware terms mean. Can anyone explain to me what BIOS is? Or AlienFusion? Or Stealth mode and how to/not to use it? Also, it's just not as impressive performance-wise as I thought it would be. "Greatest 17-inch gaming laptop?" I'm not so sure about that... it seems barely able to run Crysis -- which lags badly at times and freezes randomly (Like when I try and exit out of the game). I'm not sure if I need to reconfigure some things or install new drivers? Or was this display model a big waste of money? It seemed like a good deal but... I don't know. Please computer experts, help me out here?4GB RAM and a GeForce GTX 260M video card. I don't run anything in th background. I don't know what the problem could be, it is brand new :( moreResolved Question: Alienwear Laptops: Help with Building!!?
Okay I've posted a few questions about the Alienwear Laptops, and I've finally decided on getting one. Now I just need some expert help and advice on what components should choose. I really have no experience with this stuff, and don't necessarily know what each thing is for or what i need. I never had a really good computer and that's what I want now, a great computer, that does not lag, has great graphics, and can have all of my games installed at once (plus works well for browsing the internet and just a few other things like i tunes. Basically I play, the sims, zoo tycoon, spore, and world of warcraft (plus maybe a few others if i come across ones that i want to try). I'm not a hardcore gamer or anything but i want the games i like and play to run without problems (especially lag, and i want great graphics), but i don want to buy more that what i need (for memory, etc). ANyway I was "building" my laptop and it came to a few parts where I just have no idea which part to pick, i don't want to but extra ram, or memory or whatever if i don't need it, but i don't want to cheap out and have it be mediocre. So i'm going to list the parts and hopefully somebody knows enough about this stuff to help me pick which part i need. I am looking for a laptop with enough power to run such games as crysis and age of conan smoothly. I would like a switchable graphics card because I am taking this to college. I have the latest version of the Macbook Pro, as of June, 2010: 17 inch, 2.4 GHz Core i7 processor, etc. You probably can figure out the details from that information. I had a friend who had an older laptop, approximately an '06 or '07 edition of the Macbook Pro, who had a cable that, when plugged into the computer and the TV, could display his screen on the TV, using the television screen as a monitor, if you will. I don't know the name of the cable, but I know that somewhere between the '06 and '10 model, the plug-in for that particular cable has been done away with on the Macbook Pro. What cable can I use to display my new computer's screen onto my TV? I really just need the name, hopefully from that I will find one on ebay or a comparable site. moreResolved Question: Is Mac better than GNU+Linux?
Macs are overpriced. Simply put, if I want to run Mac OS X, I need to buy a Mac. If I am going to buy a Mac, I don't want to get ripped off. It is only worth switching if I need a new computer anyways and if said new computer is competitively priced. Macs are not competitively priced. First, the Macbook. 2.4 GHz processor, 2GB DDR3 memory, 250 GB hard drive. Priced at $999. I found a Dell laptop on BestBuy's website (Item #9536451) which has a 2.53 GH processor, 4GB of DDR3 memory and a 500 GB hard drive. Surely, a better computer than the Macbook. The price listed was $839. That's $160 less than the Macbook - and it is better than the Macbook. This isn't just with the Macbook though. The Macbook Pro comes in 6 different models. A 13 inch screen with 2.4 GHz 4GB of memory and a 250GB hard drive for $1199; same screen size and memory but with a 2.66 GHz processor and 320 GB hard drive for $1,499; a 15-inch screen with 2.4 GHz processor, 4GB of memory and a 320 GB hard drive for $1799; same screen size and memory but with a 2.53 GHz processor and 500 GB hard drive for $1999; same screen size, memory and hard drive but with a 2.66 GHz processor for $2199; 17 inch screen, 2.53 GHz processor, 4 GB memory and 500 GB hard drive for $2299. I found an Asus laptop on bestbuy.com (Item# 9556125) for $999 with a 17 inch screen (this matches or beats every single Macbook pro), 6 GB of memory (this beats every Macbook Pro), a 2.53 GHz processor (this ties or beats every Macbook pro except the $2199 15 inch screen one) and a 500 GB hard drive (this ties or beats every macbook pro). Every single macbook pro is priced at least $200 more then this one. It matches the 17 inch Macbook pro in everything except memory - which this Asus laptop has 2 GB more of. So Macbooks and macbook pros are overpriced. Perhaps it is just the laptops? Both versions of the Macbook Air seems to be outclassed by the Dell laptop mentioned earlier (the more expensive Macbook Air is priced $960 more than the dell laptop). The iMac comes in 4 models. I am not going to take a screen into account simply because although the iMac is encased in the monitor, that means that you can't switch out monitors. The ability to change monitors with most desktops outweighs the extra cost of such a monitor, however I will keep in mind that the cost of a monitor should be included so I will add on $200 to the price of the non-apple desktops I compare. The iMac comes with either a 3.06 GHz processor with 4 GB of memory and a 500 GB hard drive for $1199 or the same thing but with a 1 TB hard drive instead of only 500 GB for $1499 (1 TB = 1000 GB), or the same thing as the second one but with a larger screen for $1699. The most expensive iMac is like the previous price point but it comes with a 2.66 GHz processor instead of 3.06 GHz. I should note the most expensive one also has a better graphics card which is likely the reason for the increased price. I found a Dell desktop with a 3.2 GHz processor, 8 GB of memory a 1 TB hard drive and a graphics card better than the highest price point iMac. All of this for only $779. Go ahead and look at item# 9697521 on bestbuy.com. Even if I factor in the cost of a monitor, it is still cheaper than the cheapest iMac and marginally better. The fact of the matter is that Macs are a lot more expensive than other computers. However, some may say that you are paying for the Mac operating system. This would mean that it is more expensive than WINDOWS which I have to pay for if I get a non-Apple computer. GNU+Linux is itself free in both free beer and free speech meanings of the word. I can give it to my friends, install it on an unlimited number of computers, even modify the source code and compile every part of the system myself to create my own personalized version. Can I do that with Mac OS X? Not according to the license agreement. I can't distribute Mac OS X if I buy a copy. I can't modify it except for certain parts which are open source. I can't redistribute my modifications. Are these things important to most users? Probably not but if I buy something I expect that I can do whatever I want with it. Therein lies the problem. Mac OS X is licensed not sold. Macs lack in modification of the desktop environment. The dock can be set to auto-hide, be bigger or smaller, be put on any screen edge (except the top), and so on. There's only so much which you can do to change the dock. GNU+Linux? I don't even have a dock, I don't like the dock, however I do know that my panels can be put on any screen edge, I can move around the stuff on the panel (such as the notification area, menus, icons to quickly launch applications, windows list &c.), add new stuff, take stuff off, &c. Not only that but I can use a variety of windows managers or even switch desktop environments. Installing software. It's hard to beat the ease of installing new software on GNU+Linux. Ok, so I travel a lot and game from time to time, so I decided that I needed a laptop and a powerful one, so I am wondering what laptop can replace a desktop machine? Thanks, cheers. When mentioning a laptop that can replace a desktop, I do not mean a notebook that can replace a high-end desktop, but a casual desktop that you can game on just fine. I mostly play Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning, so I would look for a machine that can run this game smoothly. My old PC is at the end of it's rope, so I'm looking for a new one. i'm thinking either a dell mini 10 with ubuntu, but i'm not sure it will be fast/powerful enough for what i normally do with my computer. My price range is around $700 or so... if i really needed to go higher i might be able to, but i'm looking for something in that range. I'm not currently too worried about the memory or the hard drive space because if i need more than 260 gigs i can get an external hd. but i'm worried about processor speed. WHAT I DO WITH MY PC: play music, watch streaming television, surf the net, instant messenger, word processing, etc. I tend to be that person who has 10-25 tabs open in my browser without meaning to, sometimes while playing music and using pidgin. i'd say that my biggest resource hogging programs are pidgin, rhythmbox, and chromium. i'm not into gaming or anything like that. it's just that i tend to have a lot of things running at once without meaning to. i need something small because i'm a college student and not only do i want to be able to take my pc to class, but also to be able to take it out of my apartment for a few hours sometimes when my roommates are loud. the size appeals to me so much on a netbook because i'd be able to easily carry it in my regular school bag. i also have kind of vision issues with my current laptop- the screen is so huge to me at 17 inches that it's hard for me to focus on it sometimes. not incredibly hard, but i think a smaller screen would work a bit better for me. definitely don't want to go more than 15 inches ever again. moreResolved Question: should i buy apple mac book pro or toshiba qosmio?

We only have a 3/4 bed, and at first, it was fine... now it just seems a little too small. We need room for a bigger bed, but we already have a wardrobe, a television, a stereo, our present bed, a mini-fridge, as well as this large L-shape computer desk with his computer on it. Is it asking a little too much to get the computer and the desk moved downstairs to another room? I would really like our bedroom, to just be a bedroom... plus, he would be able to stay up on the computer a little longer since it wouldn't bother me so badly. P.S. My father would also use his computer, because it's about 10 years newer than his present computer, and I think he would like the newer one :). P.P.S. We would still have my 17 inch laptop upstairs that could be used, just not for a crazy amount of gaming. Is this really inconsiderate? Do you guys have a computer in your bedroom? moreTop Computers 17 Inches Laptops Links
