Discount Laptop Batteries Questions asked
Resolved Question: Which laptop would be better?
Okay I think i know the answer to this question already but i just need a little reassurance. I'm getting my own private laptop soon and i want something that isn't top of the range but still has a bit of power. I've narrowed my search down to two options. Tell me what you guys think... Choice 1: HP DV6-1330SA (http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/store/cur_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@0961929024.1263996456@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccdhadejgjedledcflgceggdhhmdgmj.0&page=Product&fm=2&sm=1&tm=0&sku=341753&category_oid=) Specs: Intel Pentium Dual-Core processor T4300 (2.1Ghz, 800Mhz, 1MB Cache) Genuine Windows(R) 7 Home Premium 4GB Memory 250GB Hard drive Up to 4 hours battery life Webcam LED Backlit screen HDMI connectivity Firewire port Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics processor Price Tag: £499.98 -or- Choice 2: TOSHIBA A500-1GL (http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.207-3172.aspx) Specs: Intel Core™ i3-330M, 4GB, 500GB, 16" Screen, 1GB Dedicated Graphics (NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 330M) Windows 7 Home Premium Price Tag (With Staff Discount): £679.00 - £67.90 = £611.10 Second one is a bit out of my price range, but im thinking of just making it happen. What do you guys think? moreVoting Question: Laptop warranty.....?
My laptop is old, but it still has the warranty where you can send it in and get it fixed. But, it has tons of problems. For example: Pink screen after startup (which means the video card is failing I think?) The socket in the back where the charger is plugged is loose, so if it's wiggled or moved in a certain way (if the laptop is lifted up), the computer shuts down. ---It shuts down because the battery is at 4% and will no longer charge. As soon as I uplug the charger it'll shut off. Gotta leave the charger in at all times. The screen is wobbly...I have to have it at a certain angle or else it will go black. It'll flicker or just completely go black. I have to have my laptop on an angle or else I can't see anything. There is barely any memory left and everything runs slowly. I also get runtime errors that pop up every 5 minutes (literally) and I have no idea what those are or why they're popping up so frequently. So...will they likely fix these problems (and others that it probably has)? Will they give me a new one? A discount to get a new one? Nothing at all? Judging by the problems it has, what do you think it'll do?The laptop's 3 years old. I take good care of it. I have antivirus programs installed. I've never dropped it. Rarely do I take it anywhere. I mainly only use it for games. moreResolved Question: Get my Personal Anti-virus to work with school network?
Hey all, quick question about Anti-viruses My girlfriend had a Laptop running Windows Vista running Avast Anti-Virus, her college school network didn't put up a hassle when she first connected, but had to download Cisco Clean Access Agent to connect which is understandable. Then she decided to make the upgrade to Win 7, bought the $30 student discount version (Home Premium I think?) Installed it, worked like a charm and threw avast back on there. She goes back to school, attempts to reinstall the Cisco Clean access and it keeps failing because the program squawks that she does not have an antivirus. So she cannot get online (meaning I cannot remote access in). She goes to the school IT department and they insist they must install McAfee Anti-Virus on there, which in my opinion is a very poor program. My bias was increased when she calls me one morning saying some program popped up saying she needed to download some security patch... yep it was a Trojan. So as I scan with my battery of other programs, I ask is there anyway to make the network see Avast as a legal anti-virus as it once did with Vista, I honestly do not see how it worked on Vista but not allowed on Win 7. Not anything that would get her in trouble of course, just a little tweak to Windows maybe? Any Suggestions?Thank guys, I'll try the MS Security Essentials to see if it helps, Win Defender caught some stuff (McAfee Scan was useless), Spybot turned up squat as well. moreVoting Question: Which laptop is right for me?
Im going to college next year. WOO-HOO! and for christmas I'm getting a laptop. I don't want Dell (They crash in less than a year and there battery stinks) and I'm interested in HP and Apple laptops. I really want a good one but my parents don't want to spend a lot of money. I need it for homework, email, music, PowerPoint's, and all the other school stuff.Which laptops (please specify) are right for me and when is the best time to buy them (like specials or discounts all that good stuff) PLEASE HELP because if I don't choose one, they will. Thank! GO SENIORS!! O one more thing, Is Windows 7 so far good? moreResolved Question: 2 questions regarding laptops?
1. Are there any shops that give student discounts on laptops if I show them my college id card? 2. I am looking for a brand new laptop and I was wondering you guys can name some that has the following features × A big hard rive for storing videos (mine currently has 51GB so even 100GB is good enough) × Big RAM for fast performance. × Budget for a student/ £500 max × Must be wireless so I can connect to my dad’s wireless connection × mouse/webcam/ battery life doesn’t matter × I don’t mind what it is run on (Windows XP/Visa/7 etc) It would help if PC World sells it since that is the best laptop I have where I live. moreResolved Question: Need help choosing a laptop at £650?

So, looking to potentially get my first laptop. My desktop is on it's decline and have been offered some Dells at a great discount. First, I was offered a Dell D610, maxed out RAM (2 GB) for 300 bucks. I have a docking station for it, so that would be convenient. I know its slightly older, and Pentium M, but would be an upgrade from my current desktop. The HD is 120 GB, but that doesn't matter, as I have an external HD. The other 3 options are brand new Dell laptops, but I don't know which one to choose, if I were to elect one of these options. I really only play 1 EASports game on it, that is a few years older now. Other than that, I use my PC mainly for internet, documents... nothing really graphics intensive. Just really multitasking. So here are the new laptop options. 1 - Inspiron 14 - 1440 $539 Intel Pentium Dual Core - 2000 Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor T4200 RAM: 4 gig HD: 320 DVD/RW Integrated 1.3M Pixel Webcam 14.0 inch High Definition (720p) LED Display with TrueLife Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD Dell 1397 802.11B/G Wireless Mini Card 6 Cell Primary Battery 2 - Inspiron 15 - 1545 $529 Intel Pentium Dual Core - 2000 Intel Pentium Dual Core T4200 RAM: 3 gig HD: 320 DVD/RW No Camera 15.6 WXGA Laptop Screen Display with TrueLife Genuine Windows Vista Home Basic Intel Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X4500HD Intel WiFi Link 5100 802.11a/g/n Draft Mini Card 6 Cell Primary Battery 3 - Vostro 1520 $529 Intel Core 2 Duo - 2200 RAM: 2 gig HD: 250 DVD/RW Integrated 1.3MP Web Camera and Digital Microphone Genuine Windows Vista Home Basic 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS Dell 1397 802.11B/G Wireless Mini Card Dell Wireless 355 Bluetooth 2.0 Vista 6 Cell Primary BatteryWhy 15? I need a new laptop for college. I will have to take out a student loan to buy one, but I will get a part time job and pay the loan while I am in school. My 2 year old sony vaio doesn't turn on anymore, and I'm using my sisters old laptop with a broken screen (I have to hook it up to my 32 inch LCD tv, and use it as an external monitor while sitting two inches away from the screen to type anything) The macbook pro that I want is $2000 (with the education discount, plus I get a free ipod touch) With these specs: 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB 500GB Serial ATA Drive @ 7200 rpm SD Card Slot Built-In 7-hour Battery SuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW) MacBook Pro 15-inch Glossy Widescreen Display NVIDIA GeForce 9400M + 9600M GT with 512MB versus this laptop from HP for only $950 including tax: * Intel Core 2 Duo Processor P8700 (2.53 GHz, 3 MB L2 Cache, 1066MHz FSB) * 4GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm) * 320GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection * 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT - For DDR2 Memory o Provides an HDMI port * 18.4" diagonal High Definition HP Ultra BrightView Infinity Display (1920x1080p) * Blu-Ray ROM with SuperMulti DVD+/-R/RW Double Layer * Webcam + Fingerprint Reader with HP Imprint Finish (Fluid) * Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N Mini-card * 8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery * Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1 (64-bit) o Eligible for Windows 7 Upgrade * Weight: 8.82lbs Ok. The macbook pro has a $1000 price difference from the HP dx18t. The specs aren't that much different, and the HP has a blu ray drive and a 2 inch bigger screen. My question is, is the macbook pro really worth the extra $1000? I mean I don't really like Windows XP/Vista, they get alot of problems, but I heard Windows 7 is supposed to be better. And my friend told me 'once you go mac, you never go back'. So is the macbook pro worth more money? moreResolved Question: What a good laptop to get for college?

Has to meet these requirements (see details)?
Has to have: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor 2 Gb RAM minimum installed, expandable to 4Gb (but I'd like to start with 4Gb if I can) Windows (Vista preferably) A really good graphics card Under 15" (preferably) I'm in Computer Programmer Analyst so I can't have some piece of Junk laptop. When I started I got an LG R500 which the school told me was like the best one I could get...Cost me $2000 with the student discount and It didn't last long before things started failing on it like the web cam, broken hard drive connector, battery port, DVD burner and now the graphics card (which is on the motherboard) is shot too and I'm not putting in the cash to fix it with all the other problem. And LGs service sucks.. when I sent it in for the faulty hard drive connector they fixed it with a PIECE OF TAPE instead of replacing it. I generally know what to look for in a laptop but my main concern is the graphics card, and I pretty much have no idea what to look for in a graphics card. I'm only done 2nd semester and I already shot my graphics card not doing anything too intense, and higher semesters are really intense on the graphics programming side (like we start 3D game programming and Direct X). Literally 50% of the people in 3rd semester I've talked to blew their graphics card in school. So I need one with a really good graphics card, preferably separate to the motherboard so it's a bit easier to replace. I think I'll pretty much need a gaming laptop. My budget is around 2500 canadian, and I'd like a good warranty with it... I don't mind spending a little more for something decent because I'm not buying $2000 junk again. It also needs to have Windows on it because we do things like Windows GUI programming.. which I can't really do on a Mac.. Though I'm open to the idea of a Mac, I'm just concerned that the cost will be too high since the computer is 2299, warranty is 550, and then the cost of a copy of windows on top of that. I've pretty much narrowed it down to either an a Mac (which is better.. Macbook or Macbook Pro? ) or a customized Alienware.. but I'm open to other suggestions. Help> ?@Ramon. I know what I'm talking about here. I'm NOT getting XP. I prefer Vista. My whole school uses Vista anyways so XP won't really do. Between the two, to be honest, most of my class prefers Vista. moreResolved Question: Laptop Advice (New College Student)?

Hi and thanks for checking out my question. Ok, I bought my (now ex, unfortunately) girlfriend a New Dell Laptop for christmas, I bought it via ebay and when it arrived It had been opened and it switched straight on without needing setting up. After a few uses it starting asking for the windows Serial key before it would allow use. I asked the good people of Yahoo Answers where I could find this seriel key and was told it should be on the base (or possibly underneath the battery) of the laptop BUT it was 100% not there. No CD or documentation other than the user manual was supplied with the Laptop so the seriel key is nowhere with the laptop. I know that there is software than can be downloaded which will supply the seriel key but as I cant acces the laptop at all I cant see how I would be able to download this in the first place. What can I do? Is it possible to get the seriel key? (To everyone who ever read a topic like this with the same name, this is a new one...sorry, posted the wrong specs on the first one) Hey, I'm thinking of getting a laptop for gaming and work...flash animations, and video editing...for several reasons. I'm always going places, my desktop computer at home is terrible by today's standards, and I also want to try out Vista. But I don't want to pay a whole lot for it. Lately ive seen allot of tablet PCs getting big discounts. And I was thinking in waiting until the end of the year to buy one. should i wait? Lately ive seen a very good spec t2z from hp for less than 750 dollars... is their any reason for this reason for this drops in price? Im thinking they are either just dropping in price in general for tablets and they will maybe just get cheaper by the end of the year without much else to think about. or they are about to make a big upgrade to the hole line of tablets in hp and i might be better of waiting for it until the end... its not urgent or anything.. my current laptop works perfectly fine (except for a 3 minute battery). I want the tablet for e-reading, help fixing other people's computer, college work, games, and comfortable multimedia experience that comes with the tablet factor and probably gps navigation with an external adapter... so basically ill need something that will last for at least 3 years in the technology side of things (meaning it wont feel sort of old and obsolete hardware wise with in the first 6 months). weather it will last that long with such heavy use might become a miracle. and i might have to upgrade to a bluray reader/writer at some point. good thing of amd is you can upgrade the processor to a newer one without having to change the hole motherboard... Also i know theirs a new amd processor codename fusion coming out in 2H of 2011.. so if i buy the laptop at the end/beginning of 2010 it might stay relatively good compared to the current market for 1 and a half years... Tho i guess i could save up during that time to buy a 30nm fusion based tablet or nvidia's, intel's countermeasure moreResolved Question: Should I buy this lapop?

I'm having a hard time picking one for the following two reasons. First, I can't find one with a powerful enough graphics card It seems. I have an 8800GT in my current rig, and nothing I research seems to match or beat that. That 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT doesn't look like it will cut it on the HP HDX18t, and the ATI Mobility RADEON® HD 3670 - 512MB benchmarks on the Dell aren't any better. Second, I'm worried about huge resolutions. Yes that included full high def screen is nice, but that 1920x1200 native resolution is going to kill my FPS! I know when you don't run native on an LCD, everything looks blurry. Thanks! General Questions 1) What is your budget? About 1500 max bottom line. I will use financing. Don't forget that a quick Google search can reveal coupons up to 20% off, and some up to $500 off. Also, you can find programs where if you buy through a certain website's link, like Treasure Trooper or something, you get a small percentage back. So potentially, I can get a 2000 dollar laptop down to my price range. 2) What size notebook would you prefer? 15-17"+ screen. I would prefer as close to a full size keyboard as possible, nothing worse than typing on a scrunched up keyboard. 3) Where will you buying this notebook? USA. Online. 4) Are there any brands that you prefer or any you really don't like? a. Like: HP and Dell because I get a discount through school, but I can't combine this with any other offers like coupons. b. Dislike: I've always had issues with Compaq. 5) What are the primary tasks will you be performing with this notebook? Gaming, gaming, gaming, gaming, and maybe typing a report if I have any downtime in my gaming. 6) Will you be taking the notebook with you to different places, leaving it on your desk or both? Mainly on my desk at home and work and school. 7) Will you be playing games on it; if so, which games or types of games? X³: TERRAN CONFLICT, EVE Online, WoW, Spore, Oblivion, Warhammer, EQ2, Command and Conquer 3, etc. Crysis maybe. 8) How many hours of battery life do you need? It will be mainly on my desk and plugged in. I'm sure anything over an hour or two is fine. 9) Would you prefer to see the notebooks you're considering before purchasing it or buying a notebook on-line without seeing it is OK? I can go without seeing it. 10) What OS do you prefer? Windows Vista. I need DX10! Screen Specifics 11) From the choices below, what screen resolutions would you prefer? Doesn't matter, I hear that 1280x800 is bad for gaming though. Any resolution that is good for gaming. 12) Do you want a glossy/reflective screen or a matte/non-glossy screen? Doesn't matter really, as long as it's clear and bright. I think glossy screens are attractive, but its not a requirement. Build Quality and Design 13) Are the notebook's looks and stylishness important to you? No 14) When are you buying this laptop and how long do you want this laptop to last? I can buy as soon as I find something I like! I would like it to last as long as possible. Notebook Components 15) How much hard drive space do you want; 80GB to 500GB? Do you want a SSD drive? I would say 250gb minimum... but I still haven't filled my 120gb at home ... 16) Do you need an optical drive? If yes, a CDRW/DVD-ROM, DVD Burner or Blu-Ray drive? Of course! I rarely burn anything and I don't have any Blu-Ray disks, but its always nice to have! I'm looking to buy a new aluminium macbook 2.4ghz in uk. I was hoping to buy in a store so I open it there and then to check for defects and perhaps get a new one on the spot if there was any defects, as I know many people complain about loose battery hinges. Just wanted to know if I walked into an apple store if they do student discount just like online and what kind of id do I need with me? Also does anybody know if it's traditional that apple have new year sales on macbooks or accessories? And I heard you can't have an extended applecare warranty over the already brought 3 years, so what happens if your laptop breaks after the 3 years is over? Thanks moreVoting Question: Do you think the laptop battery for acer here is cheap?

OK, so I'm buying a new laptop. With a generous academic discount, the model I've decided on is the HP Pavilion DV5T with a Core 2 Duo and Vista Home Premium (32 bit). I'll be using this laptop mainly for Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and web browsing. No games, or video encoding. The only encoding would be occasional mp3. Here's what I'm stuck on: 1. CPU - T5800 vs P7350. Both are 2ghz Core 2's, but the difference is FSB speed and cache size. I've also read that the P7350 is a little better on battery life, but that may only be true under certain conditions. Are there any other differences between the two CPU's, especially given what I'm using this for? Any other insight on these choices would be appreciated. 2. RAM - My inclination with 32-bit Vista is that 3GB would be best. But I read someone else's post that buying 2GB+1GB "disables" dual-channel functionality because of the different module capacities. My experience years ago (and things may have changed) is that dual-channel performance is negligible vs non dual channel. For what I'm using this laptop for, I'm leaning towards more RAM vs dual-channel (if that's even available with the above two CPU's). Feedback please? 3. Shared vs Dedicated Video - again, I won't be gaming or working with CAD, photo editing, etc. So, I'm leaning toward shared. Would I notice any difference in the apps I mentioned above by using a dedicated card? Also, If I got 4GB of RAM, that wouldn't really enhance the shared situation under a 32-bit OS, correct? Or would it? 4. Wireless Card - to Intel, or not to Intel. That is the question. Does the Intel wireless perform better (speed, range, consistency, etc.) than the "generic" wireless G-card? I'm grateful for any and all insight to all of the above (even if your answer is redundant to someone else's). I guess the main things I'm doing is wondering if I should go with shared video and use the savings toward a faster CPU or not. I just don't want to have intermittent missing blotches of images, etc by using a shared video setup. I've had this issue in the past but it's been years. moreResolved Question: is this dell laptop battery worth to buy?

hi all - I am thinking of purchasing a macbook as follows: White MacBook (Late 2008) 2.1GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (2.27 kg) 1GB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM - 2x512MB - (max 4Gb) 120GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm SuperDrive 8x (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW) Graphics - Intel GMA X3100 13.3" Screen (1280 x 800 pixels) Battery - 4.5 hours direct from Apple UK Online (with Edu discount via Uni network) £618.05 (inc VAT+shipping) -- mainly to be used for dreamweaver&photoshop cs3, msOffice and surfing the web - maybe some light video editing... basically, my question is, what are my other options? this seems like a sweet deal but can anyone suggest pc/laptop equivilents that might be just as good...?thanks for your answers, just to note that I am after a portable laptop rather than a desktop... in terms of adding the extra memory, I should have mentioned that I planned that - does anyone know if using 3rd party (ie. cheaper) DDR2 affects the apple 1 year warranty? moreResolved Question: How to choose Battery for Apple?

Ok, Dell XPS m1530 vs. hp dv9930us. Both are customized to how i want them so they are the same in almost everything including price with a discount i have.the only differences are the dell has a intel duo core 2.5 processor and 6 cell battery, when the hp has the same processor but with 2.0 instead and an 8 cell battery. I prefer hp but i'm told hp breaks easier and is harder to repair... moreResolved Question: Looking to buy a new laptop with certain specifications?
I presently have a Dell D600 Latitude (1.4GHz Intel Processor, ATI Radeon 9000 gfx card, 1.2 gb RAM). It's a bit slow for my liking... I've had it for about four years now. I think the model is between four and six years old, at least. Anywho, I would prefer to get a laptop with XP on it, but I suppose it isn't a necessity as I could always use my serial from this laptop and install XP on that computer if so desired. I would like a laptop with more GHz than what I have presently (1.4)... and with maybe 2 gigs of RAM. Hard drive space could be as low as 3GB-5GB, since I'd use flash-drives/external storage for my work. I would really like to have a long battery life. This battery only lasts me an hour or two. I think its a six cell battery, but I could be wrong. I'm willing to pay a little extra for a better battery. I want it to have a good wireless card, and an ethernet port. I don't think I'll need firewire. Would like a DECENT gfx card. It would be nice if the laptop could run the game Runescape on HIGH detail. I would check the specifications but the site is blocked here, at my college. I'd like a DVD/CD combo drive as well. Preferably this would cost me around $600-1000. (Hoping to spend 700-800 at most... 900-1000ish I'm open to though). To summarize: *Maybe 9 cell battery -something that lasts a while *Hard drive can be as small as 3gigs * Good wifi card * Decent GFX card * 1.5+ GHz (preferably a few decimal places higher, as my present laptop is 1.4) *2+ gigs RAM *CD/DVD combo drive * Ethernet Port *It would be a plus if the laptop had a TV-tuner capable card, but not a bit deal if not. *Warranty (of at least 1yr w/ manufacturer) I want to use the laptop for a little gaming, but also for school... MSOffice, etc. My present laptop is a bit slow for all of this. Lastly, please name the best (or some of the best) times of year to buy a laptop. Obviously with the price range I'm asking, I may not get so much of a discount, but I figure it can't hurt to ask. Here are the specs for "Runescape HD": ~ * 1.5 GHz processor or higher * 256MB of RAM or more * 64MB 3D Graphics card, such as Nvidia(R) GeForce(TM) 3 or above * Sun Java 1.4 or higher ~ So not very high at all, yet I fall short of the GHz requirement by .1. If I were to upgrade my ram from 1.2gb to 2gb, would it help at all? I mean, why spend nearly $1000 for a laptop if I can get this one to do what I need...? So, I wonder.. should I upgrade? I have enough money to do buy a "new" laptop, but I don't want to spend it if I don't need to. I guess if I don't end up deciding to buy a new one, I may try getting a battery to go in my CD-Rom drive (they sell those for this model)... and hope that the RAM upgrade would be enough. Overall though, I guess I would prefer to get a new laptop - as 1gb stick of RAM would cost me $80-100, I think. Please forgive my spontaneity...=P moreResolved Question: Can someone tell me if this is a good laptop and a good price?
