Yesterday I bought a laptop with xp 7already installed on it, but I decided to delete it and have XP instead! so I restarted it with the CD of XP in it's CD-ROM driver, then I pressed the Enter key once the message: "Press any key to boot from CD" appeared, and waited. However, although everything seemed normal during the next 2 minutes, a long error message appeared telling me: A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. Open Question: A question about a dim LCD laptop screen?

I have a Fujitsu Siemens laptop and the display is working however it's lit extremely dimly - you really have to look closely to see the display. I have replaced the inverter however that hasn't helped. The backlight is in working order because the LCD is brand new. What could be the problem? more

Open Question: Laptop crackling noise from the power.?

My Fujitsu/Siemens laptop has this annoying crackling noise which gets louder the more I use the laptop especially when I'm surfing or even moving the curser around the screen and over icons. I've checked the fan and cleaned it but its not that which is making the noise. The odd thing I have noticed is that when I disconnect the power lead from the laptop the noise disappears. The only way I can describe the sound is it's like the hard drive searching very hard for a file. Any ideas?Still haven't found the cause of the noise! more

I have recently purchased the game Bully and I hoped it worked great ,however there are a few problems like: -When running the game, when they show the companies that made the game, it runs very slow freezing at every second. - When starting the game, the intro scene also runs very very slow and the voice are not synchronised properly. -While playing the game, It freesez very often for a few seconds and then it runs normally. The game works fine unless this problems. When I first started uni in the UK 4 years ago, around a third of my friends had Fujitsu-Siemens laptops. They were selling well all over Europe: my English friends had Fujitsu-Siemens, and so did my Dutch friends, German friends and Polish friends. Then around 2 years ago, Fujitsu-Siemens vanished from the high street. Curry's, PC World, John Lewis, Argos, and the gigantic computer superstores I visited in Poland... no one seemed to be selling Fujitsu-Siemens computers anymore. Now the only places you can buy Fujitsu laptops in the UK are a few business-oriented online retailers (none of the major ones) and specialist "business IT solutions" shops. Fujitsu, anyone? What the heck is that, some Japanese delicacy? So why has this happened? Other computer brands are doing all right in Europe, and Fujitsu continues to do a roaring trade in Asia. For the record, I have a Japanese Fujitsu laptop which I bought in Hong Kong; it's the most solid, reliable computer I've ever used.203: Thanks a lot for your answer. Resolved Question: Major Laptop Problem, Please Help!?

Hey there, My fujitsu siemens windows vista laptop has always heated up after a relativley short amount of use. However, last night, as I was adjusting my seating position, a loud noise sounded from inside the laptop. After looking at it for a moment, I couldn't see anything wrong, so I just left it. But as I moved the laptop, a loud crackling sound came from inside, as though there were broken pieces inside it. The noises stopped, but soon started again when I moved the laptop to see if it would happen again. The noises sounded electrical and I have a feeling that something inside the main laptop burnt out. The laptop continues to work fine, but I do not want to risk anything by using it again, until I have a diagnosis. What could the problem be? more

Voting Question: Help my hard disk is losing memory for no apparent reason, what do i do?

For ages my laptop's hard disk (C Drive) has been constantly gaining memory and then losing memory, but my D Drive is fine, never loses space for no aparrent reason. Resolved Question: USB Error/Error Code 43?

Hi! I have an external HDD ("LaCie LaCinema Classic" 500GB Multimedia HDD) which recently stopped getting recognized by my Computer (MSI Motherboard, Intel P4, Win 7 Ultimate 32bit) after I installed my new mobile phone (SonyEricsson Vivaz Pro). I uninstalled the phone software etc., but the problem still persists. I also have a "Fujitsu Siemens Storagebird 1TB" external HDD, which had the same problem initially but now works even if I install the phone (after I used a registry repair program). If I try uninstalling/reinstalling the device in device manager, the mouse suddenly switches on/off permanently (including windows disconnect/reconnect sound), and everytime it reconnects it installs a new "unknown device" under the "other devices" section in device manager (must be at least 20-30 in there now). I tried connecting the LaCie HDD to a Laptop running Vista Home Premium, but the same problem occured. I also tried replacing the USB cable, using another port, uninstalling the device in device manager and (as recommended on other sites) unplugging the computer from the power supply. The HDD is definately still working though as it still shows/plays all files when I connect it to the TV and use the multimedia function via remote control. I can't find any useful advice, and I also can't any proper drivers for either the drive or the USB controller. LaCie doesn't have any proper support downloads etc. on their website. Please help, I'm desperate to find a solution. Thanks a lot in advance more

Resolved Question: Each time when I shut down my laptop it starts installing updates (since weeks). How to stop this?

I'm not talking about the automatic updated IE does at night maybe once a month or so, no, I'm talking about updates that my laptop wants to install EVERYTIME i shut it down. Then it says : "do not shut down your PC, it will be automatical shut down" and after about 3-5 minutes the pc gets off. It goes like that since 2 months, altough I've installed IE and Firefox more than one year ago. Anybody knows how to stop that ? I have just recently purchased a second hand laptop which I new was broken and I am trying to fix it, but I am having some problems. I have a windows 7 Disk and I want to put it on this laptop, but the laptop wont start properly. Here is the description he sent me when I purchased it: There seems to be a problem with the screen on this laptop - it was working fine until recently. When the power is turned on, the lights come on and you can hear the usual whirring noises but nothing appears on screen. It came with no recovery disks and I have tried to plug it into another monitor and see if the screen was broken but it just said "no pc input". I don't mind using a "kill disk" to remove everything and start from the beginning but I don't know where to get one from or to download, and if I did I wouldn't know how to burn it to a disk or to use it. Voting Question: Connecting Laptop to Old TV?

Right, I'm wanting to connect my Fujitsu Siemens Laptop to my Sony TV. These are the sockets at the front of the television: S-Video Headphone Mono (three slots, coloured red, yellow & white) And, on my laptop, I have: A speaker port (same size as average earphones) A headphone port (same size as speaker one, average size) And a sort of connection one which I've not used before. Also, there's a slot which envolves the screwing in off the nail things either side once slotted in (one of those), three USB drives, disk drive & a like broadband/internet port. Could someone please advice (send links to pictures) that would enable any of the laptop ports to connect with any of the TV ports which allows me to see what I'm doing through my laptop, on my television. I have connected my laptop to my TV with a VGA cable and it's fine, but obviously there's no sound coming through my TV from my laptop. I know it's something to do with a MINI to RCA cable (which I have) and I know you plug it into your laptop and your TV. That bit's sorted, but no sound is coming through. Resolved Question: Largest HDD upgrade for a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro ?

Its a 5 year old Celeron laptop with 30GB hard drive running Win XP (Amillo Pro V2010). I want to keep using this as a secondary PC as my Win 7 machine does not want to run many old applications, but I want to fit it with a decent sized drive. Read somwhere that 128 GB was as big as this machine would go / address, but I can't see why I couldnt go to at least 160 GB ... The current drive is a Toshiba with an IDE (P-ATA) connector.... the current drive is compromised with malware, so I would need to re-format it anyway, and as its going to be a "low security machine" I use for downloading and the dodgier sites think a bit more internal HDD space could be useful. ... also think there's a limit as to how big a 2.5 inch IDE "legacy" drive you can buy ? more

i have been having this problem for a while.. i'll be on my laptop then after a while an error will come up saying.. "hotkeyapp.exe" then the whole laptop will shut down. I can then turn my laptop back on again and it's fine until the same error happens again a little while later like 30 mins. What can i do for this error to stop? My laptop is Fujitsu siemens amilo. I know where this hotkeyapp.exe file is too in.. C:\Program Files\Launch Manager People say it isn't harmful but can you help? It's really annoying when i'm trying to get work done! Resolved Question: Laptop wont start up, even in safe mode?

A while ago my laptop failed and since then hasn't been able to start up properly. It comes up with the options of how I want to start it up with safe mode and all. None of these options works as it starts a little but a blue screen (possibly of death) comes up saying if this is the first time then restart it and if not check the disk. I don't know how to do that and I know that this has happened to some people and as far as I know it has to be forced into safe mode or something but I'm not entirely sure what to do with it. I have the Windows XP home premium OS and it's a Fujitsu Siemens laptop which is about 5 years old now (I can't afford to replace it though). The BIOS menu comes up from F2 and there are other menus through F12 and ESC. There's no disk in the drive and I haven't downloaded anything new recently enough to make this difference. Help will be greatly appreciated as I really need my own laptop back, thank you.Under technical information on the blue screen it says: ***STOP: 0x00000024 (0x00190203, 0x83393DD0, 0xC0000102, 0x00000000)I can't get into any mode, the windows logo comes up for a few seconds like a normal start up but then the blue screen appears and it restarts to cycle round again. I have been having a problem with my laptop screen going blank- I took it to be repaired and was advised the problem was overheating and it was cleaned and serviced, problem solved so I thought. I am in the middle of designing some invitations - customer collecting them 2moro and the screen has gone blank again. I have returned it to the shop and they said my laptop has basically had it. I have managed to fire the comp up and the windows logo has loaded ...... here is what the next screen says Your computer was unable to start . Startup Repair is checking your system for problems If problems are found, Startup Repair will fix them automatically. Your computer might restart several times during the process. No changes will be made to your personal files or data. Searching for problems.........checking disk for errors. This may take up to one hour. after about 10 mins another screen loads with :Fujitsu Siemens Recovery. Backup/restore data Restore factory default settings. if you restore factory default settings, personal data will be lost. next.....cancel I know enough about computers not to press next, but I can get my laptop to do anything else. Can anyone PLEASE help me . I have invitations to complete by 2moro and I really dont want to let people down :( Thank you for any suggestions more

Okay, I recently formatted my old laptop, and made a change from windows xp home to windows 7 ultimate. Everything works just fine, but I can't connect to WIFI anymore. It finds all the networks around, but when I connect to some of them, it says: Windows was unable to connect to... So i also clicked "troubleshoot" and it tells me to restart my router, which I have done already. I've checked if i write the password wrong, but not. All my other computers work with the same WIFI network with no problems. I have downloaded the latest Intel(R) PRO Set/Wireless drivers, but still nothing. hi, i own an fujitsu siemens laptop using cd drive "TSST corp CDDVDW TS-L632H ATA" device disk tray opens normally, driver says it is working properly, but whenever i put disk in, the light flashes and it makes the noise of the disk whirring, for over a minute, but it never finds the disk. what could be the problem, and is there an easy fix? more
